America: Write Your Own History

Treasury of 500, No slavery in everything except Hawaii, Africa, and New Mexico. Because everyone knows plantation crops grow well in the deserts and jungles.

slavery in south africa, 1000 gold

No slavery in all of them, 300 gold in treasury.

What I suggest if you're adding more votes is that you turn this into a "Model Congress" game, where us players can write bills to do various stuff in-game and organize into political parties like in US congress. Because we can't possibly cover everything, one of us could run for President (you would still run the game, but it would be much more in the players' hands). If you don't want to ruin the historicity of the game, we could all be Senators and write bills, but you would propose the Presidents and make their decisions about vetoing. I think it would be a pretty cool idea, but it's your call.

This type of discussion would be better suited in the Social Group. Short answer is this is an IAAR, not a Realpolitik.

With that said, I vote that there should be slavery in Africa, New Mexico and Hawaii (as those territories would benefit from it, so I believe the population would vote that way), and a minimum treasury of 1000 gold. I'll leave this vote up for another 12 or so hours.

Slavery only in New Mexico and South Africa. Minimum treasury of 500.

1000 gold treasury

No slavery at all! 1000 gold treasury minimum

I will keep my position of anti-slavery, and talking with some specialists in economy, 1000 gold in treasury may lead to a reduction of the inflation issue (Random Event stuff)

Spoiler :

Not too late at all. You were exactly 6 minutes before the post was literally 24 hours old.

His supporters praise him for his extension of important issues to popular vote, and his support of research. His opponents say that the war with Mexico was ill-conceived without a good invasion plan or preparation, along with angering southern states by his inability to promote slavery.

Campaign News:
The elections have closed! The Whig Party has sweeped the elections, retiring President Cass from office and continuing the Mexican-American War. The most pressing issue is slavery, and General Winfield Scott and General Zachary Taylor have very opposing views on how to settle it. Scott wishes to push the envelope and demand the South retire their slaving ways, while the South cry misinterpretation -- they're being abused by Northern industries by demanding low prices for cotton -- the only way to keep up is with slavery! Zachary Taylor, acknowledging Winfield Scott as his superior, gives the nomination to Scott on the condition that he does not push the South into succession until all the wars are finished. With that compromise, Winfield Scott becomes the nation's 9th president.

Democratic Party 3

Whig Party 9
• Taylor 3 (switched my vote to Scott to end election)
