All this talk of war success is truly sad. There can be no success in war, except to make peace.

The real issue is whether the political prisoners have been released. Has the rest of the left been left to restrot in jail without trial?

If so, it's time to get the beam out (of our eyes), and recall the troops from the far-flung corners of the globe to fight the totalitarianism and tyranny at home.
 
YELLERS GAZETTE NEWS FLASH​

Earlier this week a major communist leader, Caterpillar King, was attacked by alleged SPA supporters. These four men were seen today trying to escape the police after stealing a large amount of liquor from a store. They have been identified as fierce supporters of the Harding Democratic Party. Their names will not be disclosed but after interrogation and much research, they were found to have no connection to the SPA. After hours of interrogation the leader of the four agreed to having dressed as if they were a part of the SPA so the blame would not be found on them. They are also believe to be connected to the UN shooting but this has not been proved yet. Further investigation will be conducted to find out if they were involved. SPA leaders are glad to see that they are no longer seen to blame for this attack. CaterpillarKing publicly announced his apology for not seeing through the sham. Saying that "it was too difficult to tell when you're running for your life", SPA leaders and the communist supporter are now on better terms that the real convicts had been caught. The police said they will now investigate into whether they were involved in the shooting.​

Debs released political prisoners, but in exchange demanded a large amount of compensation for the 1917 Riots from the Socialist Labor Party. Debs has also worked on isolating extremists within the Socialist Party by cutting off their supporters and their access to the media (but this is all unknown).
 
Yeah I am terribly stupid I do not know why I thought the Nazis weren't violent. I even recently watched a video on that I am sorry :lol:.
 
What is the status of the KKK in this timeline btw? Are they a major political force? From Harding's election promise to crack down on them I'm guessing they are quite prominent?
 
They rose greatly after the Birth of a Nation film, which was popular both for its cinematography, huge box office, and endorsement from President Wilson. They are anti-immigrant, anti-communist, prohibitionist, anti-Catholic, and racist. As immigration increased from territories such as Australia, South Africa, and Ireland becoming states, it sparked a huge revival in 1921; down from being just a small organization in 1915. With soldiers returning from the war, they have also been pushed to be more militant as blacks and Irish-Catholics seek to compete with them for job openings at home.

In game, I have around 250,000,000 citizens. I'd say there are 250,000 KKK right now.

Debs has not made attacks on the KKK, fearing it would provoke the far-right. He has however aimed to curb their growth.

While I was originally opposed to peace with Germany, I think that the fact that Germany and Russia are going to tear each other apart will weaken both nations considerably and give us time to recover. If Russia hadn't declared war on Germany and we still had made peace, I would be highly opposed to peace, but I think Debs made the right call in waiting for Germany's attention to be occupied before going for peace.

SPA deny criminal activity: cover-up?

Following the recent New York shooting, Philip P. Liped, chairman of the Society for the Protection of America made a public announcement denying all criminal allegations that have been made considering his organisation. Liped insists the Society opposes all forms of violence and encourages peaceful dialogue.

What is to be made of this statement if the facts speak otherwise? A reader an subscriber of the Workers' Daily, Mr. Cater P. King, was attacked by an unidentified group who all wore SPA attire. On top of that, the cars sighted in the recent New York incident match the vehicles spotted by Mr. King.

All clues considered, it is very likely that the SPA, established as a peaceful organisation, has since derailed into thug activities. Mr. Liped could be either the victim of this situation, having lost control, or the cunning mastermind of a criminal entity.

Debs' actions (in continuing the various wars in faraway places) have diverged markedly from his rhetoric. I hope these crackdowns of his on other leftists (which on the face of them seem fairly reasonable) have not been motivated by electoral self-interest.

If they were to result in Debs being the only viable candidate from the entire gamut of the left, then I would strongly suspect he has been 'turned', and now secretly serves capitalist masters.

We of the left, the true egalitarians and democrats - indeed the true patriots - must ensure that all leftist voices and opinions - except of course for those that incite criminality - are heard and valued.

Huh, I said that there were 1,000,000 KKK members; it might be an overestimate in-universe. Given that my sources would've consisted of black civil rights leaders, it makes sense why such a number would appear. However, I can see future history books give the KKK's membership as "250,000 (conservative estimate) to 1,000,000 (high estimate)."

Could depend on if you count active current members only or also include ex-members and mere passive supporters. Just a suggestion.
 
With the war with Germany over, what else is Debs planning to do? I know he is going to continue the America-Thailand war (OOC: I've actually had two Thai exchange students, which is kind of funny.), but is he planning on doing anything to actually stop the KKK?

The KKK needs to be stopped, and also other groups that are terrorizing American citizens. While Debs has to work on world peace in order to save America and other nations, he really should stop worrying about public opinion and start saving America's people.

OOC as well: I really need a persona for this like everyone else. :lol:

socialist lies! The SPA is a force of good and would never commit such heinous activity.
 
Frankly, the current state of the mainland of the USA is terrible. I have heard stories of the recent happenings and I am appalled. I have been communicating with Caterpillar King and he told me that he was incorrectly quoted by a newspaper. A newspaper known as the Yellers Gazette stated that the men who attacked Mr. King were not part of the SPA and that Caterpillar even said it may not have been. This is clearly a sham by both the policemen that arrested the four, whom are obvious SPA supporters, and the newspapers writers. I condemn those who lie about the recent attack on Caterpillar not being part of the SPA. My client barely escaped with his life and if this type of libel, lying, and corruption with some policemen continue, we will not be able to solve other people's problems because we cannot solve our own! I am not saying that all policemen are corrupt but it is obvious some are not working to the full extent of the law. These terrible happenings must be stopped, this is why I plan on traveling to the United States to seek the advocation of a peaceful cease fire between SPA, KKK, communists, and the public. We are in the beginnings of a civil war and if we do not do something soon we will surely fall. Thank you for paying attention to this public announcement, have a nice day.
