OOC: After thinking it over i'm going to post this. If I shouldn't have just let me know. Also I know it isn't much but i've never really done anything like this before.
IC: Communist Conspiracy? Recently obtained documents seem to show that the Communists were able to bribe officials into letting Connolly run knowing full well that would ruin any chance of Stanley Bruce being re-elected. When we called Mr. Foster his press secretary replied that he was "looking into the accusations". This news update reported in the Lexington Herald.

Falsified Conspiracy!
After much investigation, the documents claiming that the Communist Party bribed Connoly into joining the race have been proven false. President Foster thinks the forged documents were planted by secessionist spies attempting to frame him in order to plant a capitalist dictator from Australia in power.

Conspiracy proven! The Lexington Herald has spoken with an source who wishes to remain anonymous that was part of the investigation team stating that "Foster ordered us to suppress anything the would implicate the Communists and to cover this up fast." The Lexington Herald would like to say that the source is also a high ranking Communist himself.

Former President Stanley Bruce Leads Australian Secession!
Following defeat at the polls and an attempted impeachment, Stanley Bruce returned to Australia in November 10th, 1928 five months before the end of his term. With heavy support from his fellow Australians, Stanley Bruce has been leading the Australian secession movement for two months now; neglecting responsibilities in Washington. After a referendum in Canberra, Australia has declared with 88% of the popular vote to secede from the United States, reduce socialist and environmentalist programs, and re-elect Stanley Bruce. This has caused a huge commotion in Washington as the constitution is unclear in who to elect president as several key leaders have joined the rebellion; including Bruce's vice-president. After an emergency meeting, the Communist-controlled Congress has voted to quickly inaugurate Foster on January 20th, 1929 -- nearly two months before inauguration day. This inaugural day would become tradition, with inauguration moving from March to January. During Bruce's secession movement, the executive branch was inactive and failed to maintain programs. During Australia's secession and Foster's quick inauguration, General John J. Pershing assumed commander-in-chief and roughly re-established order within the executive branch.
Australia's secession was followed by the Northwestern United States declaring their secession with a 62% vote and forming the nation of Pacific Columbia. Southeastern United States voted with 71% of popular vote to form a confederacy of 9 States. Texas seceded with 93% popular vote and joined the United Mexican States due to enclosing Mexican forces. Finally, South Africa broke into chaos when armed rebels stormed several city capitals, although no official country has been formed yet. Argentina has also declared independence, only months after their surrender.
Immediate Australian Conquests:
Following Australian secession in early December, Australian troops have stormed several Pacific islands with their renown Australian and New Zealand Armed Corps. Guinea and Phillipines, after strong defense by American SAM units, fell to Australian forces in early January. Bruce hopes to strengthen Australia's navy to blockade trade between Asia and America, while trying to create a coalition between Pacific Colombia, the Confederacy, and the South African rebels.
Foster's Inauguration:
With congress moving up Inauguration Day to January 20th in order to speed up Foster's assumption of office, Foster gave his Oath to Office amidst what many deemed the Second Civil War, although political scientists are debating whether it is truly a civil war; with only 1/3 of the nation, largely Australia, seceding. Foster vows to not only keep his campaign promises, but to settle with Australia and regain the Pacific Northwest, Atlantic Southeast, and South African territories from rebels.

At the capital of Canberra outside of Sydney, President Stanley Bruce declared to his nation that Australia has risen above the ashes of American imperialism and fascist governing to create a free Australian state. With troops storming Guinea and Indonesia, America's public was in a state of extreme distress as America seemed to be losing all foreign gains.
Pacific Columbia, the name of the nation that was founded after Oregon, Washington, Idaho, British Columbia, and Alaska seceded and declared an independent nation, began sabotaging highways leading through the borders in order to stop the movement of American troops and try to defeat their offensive with guerrilla warfare; hiding in the thick, forested hills of the western Cascades.

Nine southeastern states, with their capital of Atlanta in Georgia, declared independence as well.
