Looks like a nice bloody game. Took away Elizabeth from us, I'll try this with Victoria.

Any way to get a Pangaea-like hemispheres map? I couldn't make it happen.

Would random personalities be a good option here if you didn't want to be so blood thirsty?
 
My search skills are lacking...

I'm going to assume this is based on difficulty level, but maybe not. I've run into this problem at Prince in the last Minor game and now again at Noble in this Major. I'll find a capital with my initial warrior. I invade and find the capital is empty with no warrior in sight thanks to hills etc. Before my next turn the AI gets a free warrior in the city.

Is this free warrior based on difficulty level?
Does it only happen inside of a certain number of turns?

I've not been able to generate a pangea-type map. I've also not been able to generate a map with islands that link to more than your "continent" (tried all the way up to max of 6 with every combo).
 
They get bonus hammers at the start. I think you have 3 turns to get their cap undefended

It depends. I just played with WB and it looks like AIs at noble get 12 bonus hammers when they found their city. So you might get only 2 free rounds.

This does not seem to be reflected in this thread I found on AI bonuses.

I suspect that the AI is just moving the warrior around to protect a worker, which seems to be the second unit built by most AIs after the garrison unit.
 
1500 AD. Not a super great finish date. Went the vassal enough votes to win route.

1480 BC Oracle of Civil Service to start, then went Engineering as my military tech. Went down the Music line for The Great Library and the Epics. Feudalism (to collect vassals) and finally to Mass Media.

Killed Ragnar with Trebs, Maces, and Pikes
Killed Genghis after stealing 6 workers in previous wars.
Asoka peace vassaled to me and never left.
Killed DeGaulle. His Cap was my UN city that I gifted to Monty.

Then went to the other continent and
Vassaled Isabella, Hammurabi, Alexander, Sitting Bull and Wang Kon to secure enough votes. Eventually had Cavalry and Redcoats at the end.

My continent was Myself (Victoria), Ragnar, Asoka, Genghis, DeGaulle, Stalin, and Boudica. We got 5 out of 7 religions. Monty started a few wars against Boudica and Stalin.

The other continent was Elizabeth, Alexander, Hammurabi, Isabella, Sitting Bull, Wang Kon, Mao. Alex seemed to cause some problems early for Isabella. Most everyone was fighting Mao at the end as I came in their back doors and vassaled them.

Fun game, but the high military games are such a slog. Galleon chaining is just plain annoying but necessary for this map. I was amazed at how slow everyone was teching. Even the all Hindu continent was not at Feudalism as my army arrived at the shores.
