Mormon Buck

Given the revolution and riots gave no result, let's hope Buck will give civil liberties. Browder's decission to lead Foster to trial is strange.

YOU'RE VOTING FOR BROWDER!!!??? The guy who shot at PEACEFUL PROTESTERS!!!! The guy who's taking pages from the playbooks of Hitler and Stalin!!! ARE YOU INSANE!!!???

With Browder there is a strong chance that there will be peace.

What will voting to riot actually achieve? I enjoyed Australian Independence immensely but all the rioting and protesting hasnt achieved anything.

I say

Give democracy a chance

For at least one election can we see what happens? If someone can make the case for a different candidate I will change my vote but atm endless rioting and protesting seems unlikely to achieve anything.

RT said it best himself in how Browder is working. He's taking pages from the playbooks of Hitler and Stalin. Stuff like that doesn't change whether it be war OR peace.

Except USSA is much more developed than Russia and doesn't have the crippling pressure of being surrounded by great powers like Germany did. With all the rioting and rebelling I doubt Browder could get away with everything with impunity. That being said, the rebellion is clearly losing out here. The last time a mass rioting took place, nothing was achieved, and now after those bomb blasts it would become even more difficult to organize any kind of resistance. On the contrary Browder will just take it to use more repressive measures. Maybe he would finally make the change to totalitarianism in the civics.

The fact that there is only one party running with very similar candidates, all of the opposition is dead, and the votes were rigged last election, democracy doesn't have a chance unless we riot.

Totalitarianism was already switched to after the Operation Eagle thing.

btw when does the election end ?

Elections are always 24 hours or more. So... 6 hours from now.

Didn't you say that the side with more supporters would be the civ you played? Now that every sane person watching this thread is clearly against Browder, won't he be going down soon? (by this evening because I leave tomorrow for a month without internet?)

Browderville Summer Olympics

Wishing to show the world the Communist Party's excellence in administrating the USSA, William Z. Foster in 1931 fought to have the International Olympics Committee pick the United Socialist States for the 1936 Summer Olympics. Other candidate cities were Boston, San Francisco, Honolulu, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Rostov, and Tokyo. The committee was condemned for favoring communist cities, but nevertheless ultimately Washington was picked. The decision to change the host city from Washington to Browderville occured after the 1932 election and Earl Browder's plan to make the town in a pure, communist image.

To outdo the Marseille games of 1932, Browder installed a new 200,000-seat track and field stadium on the outskirts of Browderville. Also included were six gymnasiums, and many other small arenas. The facilities installed the highest-technology cameras and televisions, and the games were broadcasted in 41 countries around the world.

President Browder saw the games as an opportunity to promote communist excellence and his own government, and the paper The New York Journal wrote that "Corporate magnates and imperialists are too barbaric to enjoy the games." However, facing boycott from other nations, Browder relented and allowed high-standing capitalists admittance to the game. In an attempt to clean up the surrounding areas around Browderville, Browder sealed off hundreds of acres around in order to prevent mass rioters or terrorists, along with removing the local farmers and relocating them in West Virginia.

Total revenue for the games was 27.5 million dollars, generating over 13 million dollars in profit.

The games were also a way to "weed out the weak", by promoting the ideals of brotherhood and unity over the divisions and greed of capitalism. Starting the game was a torch run from Boston to Browderville, symbolizing the connection between the revolution that started there and the communist revolution manifested in Browderville.

Browder was seen next to Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Communist Party officials, his campaign opponents, and leaders of other Browderist/Fosterist communist nations. Some nations, such as South Africa and Australia, boycotted the Olympics by instead playing in their own version, the Spartakiad. Going against Hitler's idealogies of racial superiority, several medals were won by African-Americans, as Browder agreed in universal brotherhood -- claiming he had good ties with Eugene V. Debs.

Turkey and Britain, both client states of Australia's Commonwealths but not completely annexed by Australia, were a part of the Olympics but generated controversy when they refused to shake hands with Earl Browder.

World relations greatly improved after the Olympics, but relations with the Australian Commonwealths deteriorated, and relations with Indonesia and Turkey did not change.

two comments

1. who came up with the name Spartakiad? it sounds ridiculously stupid
2. The day Browder has good ties with debs is the day the trotsky rises from his grave and condemns the world to death by icepicks-falling-from-the-sky

1) Please remove the quote part of that message, it takes up a lot of space and I edited it since then.
2) Spartakiad was the name Russia gave to their version of the Olympics. I, however, changed my mind and instead made Australia's version be the Spartakiad. I renamed the Browderville version back to Olympics.

ok, can you give a snapshot of the civics in your next update ?

The United Front in Paris

May 2nd, 1936

A week after the Browderville Olympics, Trotskyists, Secessionists, Capitalists, and all those who opposed Browder's administration met in Paris. Leon Trotsky, making an elaborate speech to the attendees, described his exile from the Communist Party following the Comintern Schism, and the evil and corrupt actions done by the Browder Administration. Logan Whitmeyer, former governor of New York, Michael Linz, former US lawyer, and T. Renzo Trevisan, former senator of New Jersey, made extensive drafts and edits to a proposed bill to reclaim America from radicalism. Trevisan, after several drafts, was met with opposition to Linz as he felt no political organization should be banned no matter how radical it may be perceived. Finally, Whitmeyer created a compromise that edited and included aspects from both bills; the Whitmeyer Compromise was passed with a majority of the activists present.

Section 1:
The Communist Party will not be outright banned, but rather be barred from holding the following positions:
-a majority in either House of Congress,
-President
-Vice President
-Secretary of State
-President Pro Tempore
-Speaker of the House
-Subsection A: Between December 1st, 1958 and January 1st, 1959, Congress shall decide on whether to continue this ban and for how long, with this clause included. If it is discontinued, Section 1 of this bill shall be amended to state "no political parties may be banned by national, state, or local governments, unless they have been proven to endorse and execute treason against the United States Government."

Section 2:
A reconciliation and compensatory commission, hereby established as the "Grievances and Reconciliation Council" will be given the responsibilities of determining, adjudicating, and reconciling actions of the Foster and Browder administrations. This council will give full amnesty to those who willingly confess their crimes to the council, express sorrow, and serve the community for no less than 400 hours.
-Subsection A: All prisoners imprisoned by national laws passed during Browder's or Foster's administration or abuse of already existing laws during that administration shall be freed.
-Subsection B: The list of those who will be granted amnesty excludes former President Foster and current President Browder, along with the Justices of the Supreme Court, USSA Congressional members, all members of the military above the rank of Colonel, and all governors, legislatures, and judicial members of the states. These individuals will be subject to investigation and prosecution.
-Subsection C: Supreme Court members charged for these crimes will be temporarily replaced by new presidential appointees approved by Congress, and they will permanently assume Supreme Court membership if their respective accused are found guilty. Other non-military communists, if convicted, will be replaced by runoff elections of the next eligible election period. These elected officials will only serve the remaining term of those who they replaced.
-Subsection D: President Foster and President Browder shall be specifically tried by the Senate (after elections) for Violation of the 1st Amendment, Violation of the 4th Amendment, Suspension of Habeas Corpus, multiple charges of Murder, lying to the general public about government affairs, and suspension of democratic principles, among any others raised during investigation.

Section 3:
The Constitution, as a legal framework and protection of rights, may never be suspended at any point during peace or war nor may any single part be suspended at any point. The writ of Habeas Corpus can only be suspended for 30 days with a 3/4 majority from both parts of Congress necessary for an extension.
-Subsection A: The right of a citizen to private property will not be infringed; If private property is need for a public works project, the citizen is entitled to full compensation at market value for the property and further legal discourse. Private property may be temporarily seized for a period of 30 days in order to conduct criminal investigation. In this case, a warrant is needed for the seizure of property. A warrant may be renewed by a judge every 30 days for property under the value of $1000. All property above $1000 require a grand jury and a judge's consent in order to renew a warrant

Section 4:
The death penalty cannot be used as a weapon by the Federal government as a means of suppressing protests or rebellion, unless crimes requiring the death penalty were committed as part of such protests.

Section 5:
At least two parties with significantly politically or economically opposed views must run during each election, as determined by the Supreme Court.

Section 6:

Congress shall have the power to enforce this bill with appropriate legislation.

Section 7:
All bills in conflict with this bill are declared null and void.

Trotskyist Moai, following the passing of the bill, gave the following speech:

Comrades,

The Browderist secret police our on our tail. I have been called to lead the United Front in this most uneven fight. But we will not falter under the communist colossus, we will not fear his autocratic whip, we will not give up the fight, no matter how dire, we will fight in all theaters with the vigor of a Jihadist or Crusader. We will never surrender no matter the costs, even if we have to lose our sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, Gods and hope, we must continue to show the filthy pigs of Browderville, what the American Dream really is. The people will win in the end, or cease to exist trying. I call all men, From the proletariat to the bourgeoisie, to the immortals and mortals, to Atheists and Popes, to those of this world and those from others, grant us glory in our mighty struggle against the forces of evil. This is a day which will forever live in infamy, but we will show them what it means to be FREE!"

After a round of applause by the conference, military operations were discussed. Michael Linz gave the following information:

We need the troops to specifically enter the capital without alarm, until they can begin their assault, so Browder has the least amount of warning. We need them to enter the capital at different entry points and strike at specific locations on the mall, White House, and Congress. Then we evac on the Mall with air cover. We need to be quick, otherwise their air superiority will negate our surprise attack. We can't risk using a nuclear weapon, there are too many civilians in the area. The problem is, Browder cam evac quite quickly in the event of an attack. Seeing as though this is the USSA capital, we need to preserve the advantage of surprise for as long as possible. Get into the city, kill Browder or capture, and neutralise as many executive, judicial, and legislative members as possible. Lay down artillery fire along with air power as the attack begins to stun DC authorities. Whether we succeed or fail, within 1-2 hours, the remaining troops would be evac'd on the National Mall while heavy artillery and air fire is laid down. Even if we fail to take or kill Browder, we can still damage his ego and reputation. Besides the fact the USSA knows about the missing weapon already and most likely has anti-weapon systems defending their capital against such an attack, a fleet up the Chesapeake Bay would be reason enough for Browder to evacuate. The best solution, then, is to cause chaos within the city while neutralising Browder and his Congress. Our troops will be implanted in the city while our air units are managed from offshore to provide cover. Remember, this is their capital. We need to use our men and air power wisely to disable their defences. We also need to be absolutely sure Browder is in the city and vulnerable. Nuking a city doesn't particularly help our image, although that's the last concern at this point. Over several weeks, the entire remainder of the Dixie army will arrive at various warehouses in the city. When the day finally arrives, I envision 250 soldiers on the Mall to expedite evac. 500 others will directly assault Congress and the Whitehouse. Remaining troops hold off USSA reinforcements. If it all goes as planned, we should be able to kill or capture Browder, evacuate via Huey's with air and artillery cover. On the day of the assault, three groups will assemble, one at Union station, another on the Mall, and the final one on Pennsylvania Avenue. At 1200, group A will secure Union Station and prevent any rail travel. Group B will evacuate the Mall of civilians and set up camp. Group C will divide and proceed up the Avenue while subset 1 assaults the Whitehouse and any means of escape. We expect a strong push back from the Whitehouse and local garrison, so we must be quick. At approximately 1245, Group C should secure the grounds outside the Whitehouse and proceed in. Air operations are crucial at this point to gain air superiority and prevent a loyalist push back. Subset 2 of Group C should be assaulting and securing members of Congress at this time. Group A will defend the Station until approximately 1345. At this point, we will begin evacuation whether or not Browder has been killed or captured. Group B will hold its position, while the other groups make their way to the Mall. At this point, it is imperative all remaining forces are assembled by 1435. Evacuation will begin and hopefully end by 1535. The atomic artillery will be used in the event of a disaster.

Following the discussion, the group "Garuda", named after a Hindu god with eagle-like parts, was formed to attempt to take out key USSA officials and carry out "Operation Tea Party."

Leaving the conference, the members were asked to quickly run as signs were appearing that Browderists were on their tail. South African and Australian forces, lending aid to defend the meeting, had a shootout in upper Paris resulting in two Australians dead.

I will not be here by the time votes are finished so I am staying out of it at the moment. If I come back in time I will vote. If not, have a bunch of fun.

The Burning of the Capitol Building

Following reports of the United Front meeting in Paris, a devastating fire has burned down the Capitol building; rendering the Congress unable to convene! A young Dutch entrepreneur, Lubbinus van der Marre, was caught later and was convicted of the arson. During the trial, which was publicized on television, the court found that Marre had recently moved to America and became a bricklayer and had aspirations of joining the United Front. Marre was sentenced to three lifetimes of hard labor in the Appalachians, and later reports found that his relatives were murdered outside Amsterdam.

President Earl Browder, on May 14th, 1936, passed an emergency decree to suspend Congress in order to counter the "political divisions laid down by capitalist terrorists and spies." After the decree, the Communist Party issued mass arrests of congressmen who opposed the suspension of congress (most of them moderate socialists). With a branch of the government gone, and the Judicial Branch consisting of Browder's puppets, Browder proclaimed himself temporary Chancellor of the United Socialist States; expanding his executive branch over all regions of the government with unopposed control.

Following the burning, Chancellor Browder officially signed a bill that switched the capital of the United Socialist States from Washington to Browderville, citing that Washington now held no influence in American politics. Off the balcony of his new estate in Browderville, he gave the following speech:

My fellow Americans: tonight our country, that which we stand for, and all we hold dear, faces a grave and terrible threat. This violent and unparalleled assault on our security will not go undefended... or unpunished. Our enemy is an insidious one, seeking to divide us and destroy the very foundation of our great nation. Tonight, we must remain steadfast. We must remain determined. But most of all, we must remain united. Those caught tonight in violation of curfew will be considered in league with our enemy and prosecuted as a terrorist without leniency or exception. Tonight, I give you my most solemn vow: that justice will be swift, it will be righteous, and it will be without mercy. -Chancellor Browder
