As Pacal II had heard, the people to the north of Maya in Mexico had banded together and formed the Aztec Triple Alliance. In case they wanted to be peaceful, Pacal gave them a gift of 30 gold, and that made Montezuma open their borders to Mayan traders. Pacal thought the relationship between Maya and Aztec was off to a good start.
Also, Uxmal had finished building the Great Cothon, and started building a temple to Kukulkan so they could have better protection of their cities in case something attacked. Pacal also got news from the scout up north that they see a pride of lions near them in the land that is quite north and cold.
An artist was discovered to be born in Uxmal named Cipactli. Cipactli made great works of art and stories that would make the locals of Uxmal very happy, and helped the culture of that city flourish. After the royal advisers of Pacal II gave him news of this man, Pacal told Cipactli to stay and settle in Uxmal to bring commerce, culture, and happiness to the city.
Also, the scouts up north won a victory against the lions. Pacal was proud of these scouts, and after all these victories, deemed them the 'Invincibles'.
As Mayan scientists had finished mastering Theology, and completely reforming the religious sector, Mayan historians deemed themselves in a new age, which they called the Midevil Age.
In this new Midevil Age, everything from mines to buildings were reformed into a new style. Pacal II didn't know what to think of this, but he accepted it, and embraced a new age of science and technology that the Mayans had reached.
As it turned out, the scout couldn't get through a native village to meet Inca, but a trireme made in Mayapan was able to meet these Incans. The Incans liked the Mayans enough from the start to open their borders, but wouldn't trade the secret of money and currency, just like the Aztecs.
At least Maya had neighbors, Pacal II thought. Pacal, fearing odd beasts from the sea, moved the trireme back from Inca to the east of Maya in case anything comes from that sea.
The people in Yax Mutal also finished building a Colossus, and this made the traders on the coast want to work harder, so the commerce gathered by working the coast increased, and so did the Mayan economy. Pacal was happy he was able to do that, and with a rising economy, he took much of the gold Maya had gathered, and upgraded the warriors protecting the cities to holkans.
He also started taking defensive measures and built barracks and walls in Mayapan, and trained a holkan. Pacal was preparing for something, but he didn't know what.
