Hi, im new in this forum. I play DoC for quite some time now and have a suggestion regarding the Arab spawn and their flip zone containing Egypt.
I had one game with Egypt, played for UHVs, completed them. But with the Arab Spawn, all my cities (Niwt-rst, Per-Wadjet and Yebu) flipped to them!

Historically, Arabs were in Egypt and spreaded Islam, but they had to expel the Byzantians first. Why does Arab flips all the cities in the Egyptian core? I propose that Arab does not get that flip, but maybe more troops so they stand a better chance against the Byzantians in Egypt?

I do not know if this would break the game or anything. But I would love to hear your opinion. For me, it feels now like if I am playing with Egypt, I can only play until the Arabs spawn..

Hi and welcome to the forum (or to the end of lurking)!

You're right, that is unfair. Cores in general should be protected from flips. I plan to make flips more dynamic in general, so I want to move away from forced flips (and desertion) and use troop spawns and similar effects instead. But that's something for after the upcoming release.

Thanks for your response! That would sound a lot than the forced flip.
Though I had one other idea for that solution, though I am quite sure that this one is impossible to implement in the game.
With Egypt, when they survive the attacks of the Greeks and Romans, they are like ALWAYS gets Christianity. If not from Ethiopia, then from Rome or Byzantia. I really like that and it seems logical. And with that Christian roots in this surreal scenario, Egypt is even more distanced from Arabia.
So might it be possible to only flip the cities to Arabia if there is no Christianity spread in Egypt? Dont know if that would be a clever solution but I would like to hear some feedback.

This seems like a thread that kind of fits an idea I was having, so I'll give it a go.
Could we give Arabia a new UP (I'm not playing SVN currently so don't know if they still have it)?
Just kicking out the former religions doesn't reflect history very well, in fact it would fit a lot more to Spain or other catholic nations. I was thinking of making the inquisition project cheaper for Arabia while keeping the free temple and Islam bonus or giving them a bonus in terms of commerce for foreign religions. This would represent the jizyah system while erasing the problem for Byzantium and others to re-convert cities after only a turn or so under foreign occupation.
Any thoughts?

What's so surreal about the area being Christian before the Arabic conquest? That's how it was in real life (though Egypt wasn't independent back then, of course).

Commerce bonus for foreign religions really makes sense here actually.

Right, my fault. Well, then I think the troops for that area are a better idea, so whoever controls Egypt at that moment has to confront rising Arabia, that just sounds right.

In my last game I had a very powerful Egypt that had most of the middle east except for Persia. I got the window asking if I'd like to flip a few cities to Arabia, and since I prepared by moving units out of those cities, I agreed. But nothing actually flipped. Arabia was trapped in the Arabian peninsula and really had no chance of ever becoming powerful now. When the Moops spawned, they switched to Christianity in a few turns.

Was something changed in the latest SVN?

As far as I know, the latest SVN prevents city flips in core areas from other civilizations. So Arabia cant flip Egypt cities anymore.
The only exception is that they flip, if the cities are also in the core area of the new born civilization (for example with HRE/Austria and Prussia at 1700, where Prussia should get Hamburg and Frankfurt as they are now in Prussian core area).

So why didn't the cities I allowed to flip flip? There were a couple that were asked in the usual pop-ups and I said yes, but all that happened is the culture around those cities were empty for a few turns, then everything went back to normal. Arabia didn't even stand a chance.
