Over five years have past since the attempted reunion of the United States. Very little information has been retrieved from these lost years. It is known that the Decker Regime, taking over from the Lemnitzer Regime, tried to restore civil liberties and pursue individual happiness. This failed for them. Soon after, the Wheeler Administration arose and restored a socialist semi-democracy that was closer to the USSA. Society at this point was already too difficult to repair, and programs meant to restore order were ignored. Finally, the Johnson Dictatorship, naming the regime as Columbia (not to be confused with Colombia) arose with an iron grip similar to Earl Browder. For over three years, society, by being threatened and whipped by lazier men, began rising out of the ashes and rebuilding infrastructure.
It is also known that the world escalated in war during this time. Although the former United States of America teetered on instability and stability, the rest of the world was past the point of instability. Huge migrations of starving, thirsty, and weary citizens from different religions and ethnicity moved across continents -- raiding and pillaging and murdering those who kept pride. The Sicilian Commune, although initially thought able to survive this post holocaust, eventually dissolved from inner-turmoil. The Pahlavi Republic, depending on oil, collapsed as the world market shriveled. New Rome was attacked on every border from waves of looters and pillagers. Russia dissolved without a central government. Japan divided into small nations after the homeland was obliterated. Even nations such as Arabia and Brazil soon collapsed from environmental destruction and anarchy. Although, deep down inside people knew that if another nuclear war broke out, humanity would be lost. But just above that gut feeling, there was an even stronger feeling. Pride, prejudice, and a wanting for greatness.
Culture during this time was dreary. There was no funds for patronage of the arts, and musicians did not have the nourishment nor creative outlets (cough cough LSD) to produce unique albums.
Looking through the few remnants of humanity, we find various bits of sounds files indicating the second and final nuclear holocaust. Screams, screams from children, teenagers, the elderly, the crippled, and presumably those who never had the opportunity to enjoy happiness. The bang of nuclear bombs going off in the distance stops all ambient sounds, and for the first and last time in humanity, everyone focused on a single issue; themselves, and their own selfishness.
Listening to the radio, the last sparkle of humanity thought beyond the ashes of the Earth. Far above the atmosphere, he dreamed of a utopia; kindness, equality, humbleness, honesty. A utopia where people could pursue their dreams and achieve higher than their primitive desires. His thoughts then dissipated into a void. There, walking along an orange haze down a purple tunnel, he saw the figure of tall beings. Following the tunnel, he entered into a room of various shapes and colors. Sounds, all sounds, were music. Every scent reminded him of the memories he had in his life, until eventually his very life left his train of consciousness. There he stayed, and there he is, in an endless void.

Thank you everyone for enjoying this story over the last half a year with me!
Be sure to look for America: The End of Days, a scenario based on the final years of this story.
The story was scrapped. Mainly for 3 reasons.
1) It bored me writing the story
2) It wasn't a necessary step in ending the America story
3) Someone already guessed where the story was heading
Wow. It's hard to believe it's gone. It was too short. Ended before it could achieve its greatest height. Throughout its life, it was loved. To love it, was to know it. To know it, was to love it. It's sad to see it go. But, even in this time of hardship, the show must go on. We must remember its memory, for the good of the community. We should not remain with it in the past, for even though it marks the end of an era, we must endure. It's what America would want us to do. May it forever rest in peace.
"Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay."
I'm going to have a mental breakdown oh my gosh. I have read the end like four times. So depressing. So great. No story I have ever read has been this incredible. No show I have ever read has been this intense. This is the only place to get stories of this caliber.
