Information & rules:
Spoiler :
All games in this series will be set to IMMORTAL difficulty. User civilizations, maps, and opponents will change each game, but the pace will always be set at standard and the starting era will always be ancient. We will try for a variety of starts, and not just having a crazy warmonger as your next door neighbor (although there will be that too). This isn't a competition so there will be no predefined victory conditions. New challenges in the series will be posted every other Wednesday.

Who can play?
Anybody can play. The more the merrier. Even if you normally don't play immortal games you are still welcome to try. The games can become great learning resources for the player trying to improve. Even if you don't finish the game, we are still interested to hear about your experience.

Do's and Don'ts
We are going to be using the honor system. Feel free to restart, reload, play the same game multiple times, but don't use the science overflow exploit. Also please don't edit the game in IGE. If you do chose to cheat, please don't share your results in the comments. Also, please use the spoiler tag if you post a picture, comment about neighboring civs, close by wonders, or locations of ancient ruins.

Also, please tell us about your Build Order, Social Policies, Tech Order, and what type of wonders you went after. I know a lot of this stuff seems pretty mundane to the experienced player, but the details are incredibly useful to people trying to learn.

Future Games in the Series
I want users to submit saves from turn 0. Preferably the person submitting the game has played enough turns to know the map is either difficult, fun, or unique in some enjoyable way. Write a short description as to why it is special and email the save to immortalchallengelineup@gmail.com

Important
If you submit a game for the challenge, you must have the DLC map packs disabled. Not everybody has them and they are honestly kind of useless. Having them disabled will allow more participants.

*drools in anticipation*

T87

Spoiler :
I thought I had cleared the continent, then with the arrival of a Byzantine scout realised it wasn't a Continents game - doh! Ah well, thinking it was helped me clear out everyone around me fairly fast so I could kill them all before anyone else showed up. Maybe I can kill Theo before she tells the world about the smouldering ruins of Jakarta, Edinburgh, Ulundi, Assur and Istanbul?

Either way, this map is perfect for a Honor 2 city NC DomV with the Huns. Cheers budweiser!

Screw it, I'm joining in on the mayhem (thought to use the other part of Huns UA and make a peaceful culture win)

if consentient took 5 caps in 87 turns, then if I do it in ~130ish, I'll pat myself on the back :)

I took 5 caps. I made a major mistake when my eastern force lost both melee units (it was more like a freak accident but I should have been paying attention) and I had to send fresh ones all the way across the map. After that, I made a grand strategy mistake that led to a giant quagmire. But still its a great map and while I was rolling it was tremendous fun.

The HA are effective until t 150 at least with their logistics and range.

Yeah, closer to T200 because by then you'll have March and other stuff too.

Yeah, I was going against 18 defense cites that would maybe upgrade to 25 and thats not enough to keep out the HA.

Spoiler :
I dont think you need the NC at all. In fact, I only ever built a monument in Attila's Court and went straight to The Wheel. Much later I built a barracks, but for the first 100 turns it was only units in the cap.

Iunno, HAs were still good in that Deity game where I took out a cap on turn 130 something and it may have even dipped in 30s

T108 Total Domination

Huns are fun. With them, Total Dom is just as quick. Raze everything you don't need!

Cheers. I tried hard to consider each move. No surprises for guessing who defended his lands the fiercest. I actually lost two HAs to his spearmen ;)

The rest was plain sailing. On Immortal, HAs are too much for the AI.

Spoiler :
1. Jakarta. 2 HAs, a Warrior and an upgraded warrior (Ram)
2. Edinburgh. 5 HAs and a different ram that had made the long march through the rough terrain a looooong time before.
3. Ulundi. A ton more HAs join in, plus the 2 rams.
4. Assur. The Western army completes its task while the 2nd Army goes East.
5. Istanbul. I killed his army, he offered me his 2 expos. Razed them, finished him 10 turns later.

Annexed Jakarta early and rush-bought a few more HAs there, mainly with the sale of the disbanded Western Army.

6. Rome. First because the Romans only had Ballistas. Pathetic.*
7. Constantinople. They had a few Dromons, but I had Range and Logistics by this point. Cataphracts might have slowed me down a bit more.

* = The Immortal AI not only gets less advantages than the Deity AI, but is considerably less lethal. It lacks any kind of killer instinct. I'm convinced that there must be something in the code that makes it kinda ' about' a bit more. Why did the

Romans
not have anything to show in defence? Why when I play like this - as in the Mongols/Aztecs/Siam ICLs - does the AI seem to perform even less well? The France ICL seems to be the last time I can think of where warfare wasn't plain sailing (no criticism to the hosts - I enjoy being on top and going for fast finishes).

Acken, you quite like scouring the code. Maybe you could keep an eye out for anything that confirms my theory.

consentient, you have just become too good for Immortal AI :D If you play far less optimal (and random) then Immortal is still fun and can even be challenging :)

There is a huge difference between Immortal and Deity, for sure.

But there's two reasons I'm not playing ModAcken anymore (where new challenges no doubt lie):

1. The Mac version is incomplete compared to the Windoze version
2. The AI behaviour on the Mac version is completely erratic. DoF/Denounce/DoW seemingly at random.

I tried to install Windows on my Mac (which I've done before) but this time, it did not work and frankly, I cba to try anymore.

Played this yesterday. Had a nice game going and aimed for a t120ish-win when I fell asleep and somehow managed to keep playing... When I woke up I had a domination win t168.

Didn't take any screenshot at the time but this is the "proof" from replay...

I'd play it again but I rarely have fun the second time. Thanks for the map! Very nice for Attila!

Spoiler :

Sloppy, but on Immortal it's godd.

I need to trudge through Rome and Assur and it's over. 105 Turns have passed. Christ, the Huns are beastly

Turn 126 Ragequit

Spoiler :

A mixture of dreadful terrain and insanely defensive Legions, Rome took a while to capture, it was the only cap remaining and after wasting enough time trying to take out the invincible Legions, they got the Great Wall up, so I quit. Screw that

CV T266

Spoiler :

I just conquered Jakarta and then went for a CV. Surprisingly lost both WF and IG to Romans by a pretty big gap - something I have never seen before on Immortal. Other than that pretty standard game. Had to defend against Ottomans and Zulus at one point, and almost lost Jakarta but luckily survived.
