SGOTM 22 - Anti-TSR

So, what's the plan? I know LC wants to check the saves to see what the AI have been up to. But who's playing next or is DV still playing?
I'm swamped with work and don't think I can play until 10/5, unless it's just hitting enter a few times until GW is in.
Incidentally, Darius completing The Oracle on T19 fits exactly with my prior analysis, assuming Darius completed the barracks on T8.
Interesting that Darius has not built a worker. Did he start with one, or just a ton of pre-improved tiles?

Also strange that Zara is still at pop1 and working a 0F tile again.
What's the easy way to calculate the hammers in the build from teh espionage screen? I forget...

Hammers=(SabotageProduction / CityRevolt) * (650 / 6)

Regarding 0 food for Zara, I suppose if you set a city and surrounded it with mountains, it would be unconquerable, right? Or could you nuke it to death?

An AI bunker civ, immortal, surrounded by mountains, might not need to grow.

Then we would all be going for space, after we learned the ugly truth.

That would make BSP a bald-faced liar.

This scenario is intentionally more straight forward than previous games. It won't be easy, but less confusing, hopefully. Our goal was to offer an opportunity to players who didn't take part in any SGOTM in the past. All our teams are happy to accept new members of any skill level.
For all I know, he's bald, but I don't think he's a -faced liar. :D

I think the main danger in this game is the raging barbs. Everything else is whatever.

Tech: Masonry-Mysticism-TW (might as well focus on buildings for REX, if we fail on GW, we can still build the Great Warrior Wall)

MM: Per Pollina's plan

Warriors: be as safe as possible, collect cheap XP, move into sentry position. Forget about farming a slave from Hannibal.

Build: warrior (partial)-GW

Plan to play tomorrow if no major objections.

When do we learn Archery? If we fail the GW, do we switch to Archery at that point and pump out warriors until it's done?
We don't need archery if we get GW, right? If we get the GW, we plan to eventually steal techs with a Great Spy Mission, right? Actually, that's a bit of a PITA for cheap techs. Seems like it would be better to build cottages. Anyway, we want to REX for now and minimize unnecessary techs, right? I like Sailing better than other techs except that it doesn't give us a building.

Mysticism, can't we tech that after the GW fail? We can build a monument while the settler is walking...
Maybe we will fail on teh GW, but I'm not planning to. :p What tech would you prefer first? If we wait on TW, we might get a few beakers more of a bonus.

Researching Mysticism first just to get a couple of bonus beakers on TW later seems pointless. I would go TW -> Pottery. I know how much WT likes monuments, especially in the capital, but I'd rather have our "REX building" after the GW be a granary.

That was my first thought.

Thing is, 1) how many cities do we want asap, 2) how soon do we want city 3, and 3) are we going to want to expand borders of our secondary cities?

We can build a granary while the gems settler is walking, but what about city 4? Plus, what about more workers? I'm thinking we might as well settle stone to the north rather than to the south, but that requires some roadwork. Library is 60h more than monument.

Then again, the sooner the library the better.

Ideally, infrastructure in Rome goes GW -> granary -> library -> monument. Yes, we'll want to expand borders in other cities, but it will be less of a priority with the GW...

We can connect horses with roads at wines-1S and wines-2S1E and culture expansion. Maybe it's better to build the 4th mine at wines-1SW, even if it means not working the pigs 1t.

We'll need a second worker for gems. Assuming GW, should Rome build GW-settler-worker-settler-building3?

Are Zara and Gilga still without Mysticism? Do we know Gilga's hammer output?
Don't know and don't know. There are too many variables now, but we know that 3 or 4 AIs have Mysticism, so that probably didn't change.

Darius will probably complete a settler on T25 at the earliest. Who knows, he might settle on stone. Seems like there's plenty to go around.

I think BW and GW(T37) is our safe route, both in terms of getting the GW and in terms of not getting overrun with barbs, but I'll go the other way, since that seems to be the consensus. Basically we're going to gamble on the optimal solution. Okay by me.
