SGOTM 22 - Anti-TSR

We won't get the 40% religion bonus, if we steal Calendar on t171. That's 340 EP instead of 165 EP (50% spy + 40% religion).

Anjar's culture mod will be negligible in a few turns, which should make DaGift the better city for stealing techs again. DaGift already has Hinduism.

Spy in Rome goes near Anjar (in our land) and waits for other spy to finish
I would send the spy to DaGift, so that we can get another steal from Darius earlier. He seems to have around 30 culture in Anjar. That's only a 12% culture mod. Mission cost is already almost equal in DaGift and Anjar, as DaGift has a lower distance penalty.
 
End-Game Strategy Idea

Plan: Fastest conquest by revolting cities before capture. Maintain happy cities with happy resources, low WW, barracks. Produce 1 unit per turn everywhere.

1. Courthouses everywhere asap. We get 1/2-priced CHs. Now that we have CoL, we should build a ch in every city asap and always work a spy specialist. That's upwards of 60eps per turn. Over 50t that's a GSpy. Not including the maintenance savings * inflation.
2. Keep Aksum(Pyramids) to enable Police State for +25%military-hammers and -50% WW. I think we'll be able to keep our cities happy without HeredRule if we keep happy-resource cities.
3. Nationhood gives 2:) on RAX and 25% on eps (works on the ep slider). This gives us more eps to revolt cities, faster endgame.
4. Golden Ages are not critical if we're running Police State and Nationhood. We have 1/2-price on maintenance and civics and we can still get close to 1 unit per turn in each city. That's not to say we don't try for GAs, but just to keep in mind.

Keys for keeping cities:
1. Happy and health resources.
2. Pyramids.
3. 1 unit per turn capability.
4. Chops, et cetera.
5. High AI culture so we can raze later.

Other strategy keys:
1. Courthouses asap, work spy specialists.
2. Spread Hinduism, if possible, to all hill cities and cities with walls and castles.
3. Plan to have 50% spies in target cities for revolt.
4. Steal techs maximally cheaply, using DaGift cities nearby Rome, after AI is down to 3 cities.
5. Rax in all our cities before we run Nationhood.
6. Run Police State when our cities can be happy enough without HeredRule.
7. Rome as large as possible.
8. Forges as needed for 1 unit per turn.
9. Run espionage slider to acquire enough eps.

So we should certainly keep Baghdad for the gold tile it will eventually have. +2 happy.
NotreDame is also +2.

Maybe Sal needs to lose Najran right away too. Simultaneous with Lalibela. We'll have a 2nd medic by then.
On 2nd thought, maybe a peace deal so the waters aren't so dangerous on the Zara attack.
Baghdad is in revolt anyway and then needs to expand borders. Najran can wait.
 
I can play only a couple hours starting in about 30 hours from now.

Our Pike kills the WE with no dmg! Sweet. I move 2 workers to the Pike so we can road and load the Pike T168. (other worker finishes workshop)

Knight/Healer kills catapult and positions himself to heal all the scattered, injured units.

Southern boats and units do a little shuffle. I need to decide what to do with the units in Damascus. I'm thinking at least 2 loaded should come over this turn to provide happiness to Mecca. And I'll load the treb for sure.

Right. I just wanted a long-term strategy out there so we could think with it. In cities we want to keep, it's an easy 2whip.

Hopefully we'll get lucky in Zara's cities.

Sal is crippled. Zara will be crippled after Lali-Aksum-Gondar. Then we can stagger if not cripple Gilga, the single other tech runaway, with Uruk (Colossus).

Both Gilga and Hannibal have Optics, btw. I think we should plan a major tech steal from Zara as soon as we capture Gondar. Gift Hindu Rome-3N1W and steal Nationalism+Compass+??? on T+0, steal Optics+??? on T+1. Stick 2X spies in there, all at 50%. This takes foresight. Probably devote HC, FC, and Bovino to that after they build the archers/chariots. The spies can sit on the tile before the city is planted and still get the bonus. We only need to settle the city on T-1 to get a bit of culture in there.

Edit: Hm. If we want to re-capture Rome-3N1W, we'll need to grow it to pop2 first. That would require settling it T-6 and working bananas or T-8 and working a farm. Plus, we need to build the farm if we don't want to steal it from Rome.
