RFCE 1.3 Playtest Feedback

Kiev 3/3 UHV
Not optimal, used youtien's trick with liberated 2nd city to another civs (Bulgarians) for free units - 3 HA. Capture Constantinople for easy money(with save/load ofc)

abuse flip mechanics when AI civ refuse liberated city:D, but you gets and the city and the additional troops

I didn't use such nasty abuses (will be gone anyway when I revise the flip / defection mechanics), also didn't reload my game even once :p
Will finish my testgame tonight, but as I said I'm pretty sure it's doable

Hi,

I've been trying to edit the Python files but when I click save it says I don't have permission to do it. Specifically, the RFCEMaps file - I wanted to change the Scottish city names from Scots to Scottish Gaelic, as well as move some cities around that I felt were too far from their IRL locations. Is there a way to enable editing of these files, or is it not possible?

This is not an RFCE specific problem, but a (small) issue with your administrator rights. Just give yourself administrator rights for all files and you should be able to edit the files.

(right-click on the RFCE folder -> properties)

Where do you want to edit those?
In your own version you should be able to do it without any issues. Maybe check admin rights?
Write access on SVN (sourceforge) is limited to the developers of the mod.

Nevertheless it doesn't really matter.
If you have some improvements, just upload/suggest them here on the forum.
For CNM (city name maps), probably this is the best thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=429472
We can discuss the suggestions, and I will commit whatever we have at the end to be included in the main mod.

There is a small chance that I made a minor mistake connected to Kiev in one of my commits a couple weeks ago.
And by small chance I mean 100%
Also by minor mistake I mean absolutely gamechanging for Kiev
The Kievan food UP was not working at all... :crazyeye:

Big :hammer2: for all of us for not noticing it sooner, it is not that hard to spot it after all :)
An even bigger congrats for SanJose and all the others who managed to do it even under these circumstances.
(I also succeeded, but reaching the food limit was way harder than I remembered. Unfortunately only that was the point when I looked around for possible mistakes...)

Anyway, after my next commit I think we should restart the Kievan Food UHV challenge.
Stability is in a much better shape than before, barbs are managable, and I had a very fun playtesting game with the Rus :)
 
Still need as many crashing savegames as possible, upload if you have any (with stating which version is it with)

Here's my contribution: SVN 1195 as Venice, Windows 10.
Just conquered Tangeri, plague hit Firense. CTD at the end of turn.
Fortunately no CTD under Windows 7, I could continue this game.

Thank you. Yeah I just wanted to edit my own files, though I might post them once I've updated all of the British Isles.
 
I have big issues with culture. I like to culture-push cities/civs but sometimes its become akward or insane. Like in case of Brest vs Vannes, Brest obviously have no culture at all! He run culture slider for 20 turns but still should not got my lands!!!!! Can you tell me why I cant push my borders if i have 70/turn in my city and the other have 3/turn????? Its very very irritating. Oh and Pope got Protestantism in Rome :D
Austria's unreal borders also very frustraing with no culture production it shouts to raze me :D

There are modifiers for culture based on province-level.
If a province is core or historic for a civ and unstable for you, the other civ will easily spread over it's culture against yours, even if you produce somewhat more.
(IIRC the modifiers are 3* for core, 2* for historic, 1* for ok, 1/3 for unstable)
So yeah, don't expect to push Austria out of those territories when they are unstable for Venice :)

Also, on the Brest situation you only have 13 culture/turn.
That wouldn't be enough to culture push without modifiers either.

About the Pope: did it happen right on Reformation?
Do you have a savegame right before it happened?

Hi - I got a CTD in my Spanish game - just purge Islam from Fez and hit end of turn (happens also without purging Islam) ... thx, it is 1.3.1 patched, no SVN.

In the meantime I worldbuilded walls and castle in Tangeri, as conquering that only city the Krak des Chevaliers didn't do its job.
I even tried SVN 1196, but it still crashes. And again, it's all right on Windows 7.

Do you have a savegame right before you conquer Tangiers?
Does the bug appear again, or was it only one instance?

EDIT: nevermind, found the issue :)
interestingly it's connected to the Moroccan civ having cities in the Sahara desert :crazyeye:
 
After so many years, finally I could do all 3 Arabian UHV. However it's not that important, during the game I found some strange things.

ss1: 2 great spy i not enough for a Golden Age. I had only 1 for 2 uhv done, no gp were used before.
ss2: the Zymmajads (or who) revolt. at stability ~ +120 the chance they are stay is -6% WTH?
ss3: If an empty city go indy, it gains 1 defender, out of nothing. Its BAD!!! delete this feature pls, if it is. Or its apply the new 1 defender system, instead of two. But its new indies never got, only player/AI.

also added the save so you can watch how it was done.

ps: it seems doable on emperor too. also broke my stability record, also I were at -110 stability in this game and did not collapsed. also having cities in border/foreign territory still core-city went indy!

1: for golden ages you need different kinds of great people.
2: minor nation revolts are a strange mechanics anyway, but will look into it
3: why would it be bad? I have a hard time understanding what you wrote here.
IMO the free indy defenders are good for gameplay, as it's broken if you can just ride back into an empty city right after it went indy.

4: You were very lucky if didn't collapse. Always the secession mechanics started, and not the full collapse mechanics.
5: it's possible that your core/historic cities go indy with bad stability. Cities in border provinces have significantly bigger chance, while cities in unstable provinces have way bigger chance.
