Update 7 – Year 1908

Global Events:

Iroquois declared war on the Sioux, citing ideological reasons. The Japanese soon follow. Many people around the world could not help but compare this with the beginning of Eurasian War, however it is different, as the Sioux are more prepared (they have just finished the Red People’s Army project) and undistracted.

The Iroquois, nevertheless, achieve much results in the ensuing titanic clash (read below).

(-10 Iroquois divisions, -15 Sioux divisions, -5 Sioux air wings)

The Japanese, after failing to find any Sioux Pacific islands, have landed, after a short and victorious encounter with the outdated Sioux fleet, on the islands just off the Sioux coast – the locals call these Victory Islands. The Japanese did not receive much resistance there, but many think it is the calm before the storm and Sioux probably do have some nasty surprise for them...

(-1 Japanese task force, -3 Sioux task forces)

The Incan education crisis is over. Meanwhile, the Incas have signed an alliance with the Brazilians, the Dual Emperiste. They have also established joint control over the recently-completed Panama Canal (+2 Economy for both Incan and Brazilian Empires).

The Brazilian militarization continues (OOC: happy now?). The Brazilian Emperor, emboldened by the militarization, has decided to ally with the British in the Turkish War. It seems that the tide is turning against the Arabs now...

To add to that, the British have recently finished the Royal Aviation. With this boost, it seems that the Empire is ready to avenge Uskudar.

Catalonian liberation movement is again rampant! Occitanian Catalonia is in major unrest and several acts of terrorism were committed. That has greatly distracted the Occitanian forces from the Turkish War.

Peace in Europe – mostly. The Burgundians have signed peace with Germany, withdrawing to pre-war borders. Many in Germany are somehow disappointed, as they wanted to liberate the suffering proletariat of Burgundy. Speaking of Germany, work has begun on the new capital – Germannia – to the south from Berlin. The population is very enthusiastic. The government will remain in Vienna for now.

Following the defeat from Finland of all countries, many rightist factions were on the rise in Scandinavia. Recently, Erik Magnumssen and his government, as well as the Royal Family, was overthrown by fascists, who demanded that Finland returns Northern Sweden to Scandinavia. It’s stance towards Russia’s temporary occupation of Visby is, as of yet, unknown.

As for Hungary, the referendums resulted in a changed map of Eastern Europe. Croatia decided to join the Balkan Alliance, and was admitted by a landslide. Hungary split – the main area, around Budapest, swore it’s allegiance to King Lajos Ungeren, but the Carpathian Hungary, also known as Transylvannia, decided to join Russian Republic instead. Romania was admitted as an autonomous republic in Russia, it’s war-time military remained in the Russian army.

Heavy fighting in Sicily. Italians failed to make much progress until the famed Red Baron and 25 German air wings arrived. The initial bombing runs have caused not much destruction, but astonished the Sicilian military and broke their morale. Soon enough, the island was captured, but the newly-assembled Sicilian fleet fled, along with the local leadership... It is unknown whether anything will be heard from them again.

(-19 Sicilian divisions, -5 Sicilian air wings, - 5 Italian divisions)

Turkish War in Africa begins to stalemate, it would seem. The Arabs and their allies have entrenched heavily on the Southern Front, and the British commanders do not want to attack the trenches. Analogically, the Arabs do not want to attack Suez, which already claimed many lives. Seeking to get local support, the Arabs have granted independence to Libya, which immediately committed the newly-trained army of ten divisions to the Islamic cause. Then came Brazilians...

Just when Egypt begun to recover from British bombardment, just when the army was done putting down (for a while) the rebellion, the Anglo-Brazilian fleet entered the Nile again, despite the Arabian bombardment and the Egyptian fleet, and advanced despite many troubles in Sudan, where a very large Brazilian army disembarked and beat up the Egyptians, whose forces in the formerly rebel area surrendered. The local population welcomed Brazilians as their liberators. This effectively cuts off the heavily entrenched Arabo-Egyptian forces to the south from their supplies... Moreover, the Brazilians have brought reinforcements for their and British forces using a new invention – the parachute.

(-4 Brazilian divisions, -3 Brazilian task forces, -1 Arabian air wing, -5 Egyptian divisions, -4 Egyptian task forces)

As EPAN grows, so does the Madagascaran economy – from increased trade and tourism. The capital city of Sarinosko has converted it’s docks into a Superport, an amazing sight to behold. Also of note is that the Madagascaran Professional Armed Service project has reached completion.

In Asia, the Arab forces have took Cyprus again, without finding any Occitanian or Iberian troops there. Soon, they discover why – the Occitanians and Iberians have seized Cyprus as a temporary base only. They have now landed in Turkey, along with the Iberian reinforcements, and took over Antalya after the initial fighting with the Turks.

(-2 Turkish divisions, -1 Iberian division)

Back in Arabia, the Caliph realizes that drastic measures are needed. The much-spoken about secret weapon seems to have finished completion and is ready for use. A draft was declared (+30 divisions). How will these developments change the course of the Turkish War – or whether they will at all – remains to be seen.

Pakistani rebels, encouraged by the lack of Indian military’s attention (and by the supplies, funds and arms coming from an unknown source), have seized control over a very large area.

Mongol Uprising is over, after the Khan was abandoned and died from his illness, and after the Russians have gave Mongols autonomous status. The grateful Mongols have migrated there from Japan and their entire rebel army merged with Russian military, 23 expert cavalry divisions (+23 divisions for Russia).

Despite it being delayed by the incompetent bureaucracy, the Chinese lands south of Yangtze have rejoined their brethren. Great celebration are held in Tsingtao.

Oceania, too, has joined the EPAN.

Random Events:

In Great Britain, the speech given by King Chris and the fact of Brazil’s assistance have greatly increased the war-time morale and enthusiasm (+1 Culture). 5 divisions worth of volunteers join the British army (+5 divisions).

Scandinavian public opinion is bitterly split between the Fascist and the Democratic ideology. Rumors of a counter-revolution spread, tensions with Finland are high (-1 Culture).

Spotlight:

Iroquois Blitzkrieg – Take Two

“The Iroquois troops advanced into Aztec territory like lightning. Nothing could stop them. It was as if Genghis Khan and his Mongols somehow got modern equipment, and were on their rampage once more.”
- Moltke, German military observer with the Iroquois forces. 1906.

For eight years now, Iroquois military was gearing up, recovering from the defeat in WWI, and modernizing. In 1906-7 Aztec War, the Iroquois have shown what they are capable of, overrunning the Aztecs in six months and acquiring oil to fuel their war machine (and to trade with Russia to receive the new technology).

By 1908, their military got even better. Technologically-advanced, disciplined, numerous, the Iroquois have prepared to attack their worst enemy – the Sioux.

The Sioux were not taken by surprise. They had numerous nasty surprises, such as Apawhata cocktails, bazookas and minefields across all of the border with Iroquois. But even that failed to slow down the Iroquois horde. Bombers decimated what little fortifications there were, and damaged the Sioux airforce. The Iroquois soon occupied a half of the country, using their Blitzkrieg tactics and superior weaponry. The Sioux organized fierce guerrila resistance, and their forces were not entirely crippled, and the casualties were high for both sides, but the speed and power of the Iroquois attacks has astonished the world...

NPC Diplomacy:

From: Sioux
To: The World

You have seen the aggression of the Iroquois; you have seen the aggression of the Japanese. If we fall, these two beasts will be searching for more victim countries to consume.

*secret*
From: Sicilian Leadership
To: Burgundy

We have been defeated. But we still have a fleet – ten task forces! If you give us refuge in Burgundy, you will receive that fleet. Consider this offer.
*secret*

From: Pakistani Rebels
To: Indian Empire

This is a great land, Pakistan. Let us not shed blood over it, while there still is time. Give us independence, or we will take it from you, anyway.

OOC:

Everyone, I decided that instead of adding new economy levels, I will use Amenhotep’s model from now on (meaning that if anyone grows economy beyond economy levels, in economy to the right from the level there will be +x).

Look - the Map!

To Britain and Brazil

Any of you two interested in selling some African land (I really need to be more colonial. )

To:Brazil
From:Arabian Caliphate
You betrayed us, we had signed a NAP. That was just your biggest mistake to betray us. I hope your troops in Egypt will like Arabia's new weapon.

To:Iberia and Occitania
From:Arabian Caliphate
It would be smart of you to withdraw yourselves from this war or you will face Arabia's new weapon.

@conehead
When was that official? I know we talked about you wanting me to declare war in PM, and I declined, this was why...

@das
:D

To Inca
From Brazil:
We would be happy to sell colonies on the African continent, and will be carving up Egypt when we are done with the campaign. As the war pertains, your involvement is not needed as of yet, however, would be appreciated. If Incan forces are required, that will be looked on favorably for more lands than anticipated exchanging hands. ;)

@thebignastyone
But in that PM you asked for MPP and I agreed to it.

well, i guess I did agree to a NAP looking at the front page, well, in my defense, there wasnt a specified time that would stay in effect. :satan:

conehead, welcome to BN1 politics 101.

@bignastyone
Well I inform you that my secret weapon will be used on your troops in Egypt, before anyone else.

From: Iberia and Occitania
To: Arabian Caliphate

What would that weapon be? Whatever it is, we do not fear it!

From: India
To: Evil Rebels
Die die die you evil scum! Mwahahaha!
"Give us independence, or we will take it from you, anyway" indeed. I will not give you independence, as you have no reason for it, and you simply cannot take it from me.

Orders: Use all troops to crush the rebel scum. I outnumber them 4-1, and that's not counting my airforce.
Finish the NIP.
Increase Educaiton twice.

OOC BTW: Why the *hell* did I get the pakistani rebels? Until you added the new levels, I had the highest possible culture. Besides, there is no "Pakistan" in this alternate history, or atleast there should not be.
