The 31 Other Civilizations Mod (31OCM) is near completion. All that is needed are the units and I will commense finalization.

This thread is intended for suggestions for what civ's UU should be and for unit requests. Feel free to suggest, comment, and post helpful information and pictures.

I want this mod to have user created units, meaning no conversions. If not all can be done, careful decisions over which conversion to use will be used will take place.

Australia should have either a Digger, a Light Horse or the ANZAC. I personally reckon the Light Horse would be best; a replacement for the cavalry with maybe +1 move and attack or something.

Scythia should have either a good horse archer unit (no idea for a decent name beyond something highly generic) with +1 defence or attack on the horseman, or the single women who go out hunting for men after killing tribal enemies in battle, a swordsman replacement with +1 move.

Nubia had very famous archers, maybe a +1 attack archer replacement?

The Seljuqs a good horse unit IMO; the Turkish members will probably give you a really good name for it.

Kushan will be tricky, give them the Indian War Elephant or a bamboo longbow archer, or a steppe cavalry.

The Xiong-Nu's most feared weapons were their bronze chariots, a +1 attack and +1 move chariot replacement, with a shield cost increase of 10 maybe.
 
The Hoch- und Deutschmeister Infantry Regiment was the elite unit of the K.u.K. Austro-Hungarian empire. They fought valiantly in WWI against the Russians on the Galician front.

I am thinking about maybe 2 UU's per civ. Is that a good idea or not.

If so I can add the Assyrian Chariot to the Assyrians, Polish WW2 Cavalry to the Poles, one of CivArmy's units for the Tupi, etc. etc.
 
Can you get two UUs for each of the civs? If so, and it is well balanced, then IMO go for it.

More thinking...
- for Sweden, the Carolean. Don't know what they were or to replace, but everyone always says the Carolean for Sweden's UU.
- for the Swahili, maybe a dhow? Not particularily thrilling, but there are a couple of dhow units I know of, and it would probably fit well.
- Manchuria could have a boxer, but only if you do the two UUs. Wouldn't seem good to have that as their only.
- Civarmy is Brazilian and is making some Brazilian units, how come he hasn't given the name of a good Brazilian UU? :hmm: ;)
 
Sorry for late, I was busy with the units these weeks :blush:
Here came my suggestions:
- One or two units: two units would be great, more options, more pleasure for us, but I think this Mod has a big (a really big) problem that would grow if we choice two units per civ: the Mod size. I'm sure the leaderhead space will be more than 400 mega, it gonna take a lot of space in the CFC server. If we use two units per civ, this problem will grow up :( . It will be hard to storage in the server and hard to download, for Dial Upers, it will take days of downloads :eek: For this reason I suggest we use just one unit per civ. BTW, I found this same problem with my mod ACM, I'm developing one way to fix it, check the ACM treat, it is about a Lite version.

- Suggestions for units:

- Brazil: Any of my 14 units would be great, I think Dragões da República (cavalry) and Cangaceiro (rifleman) would be the best ones. If people think Cangaceiro just represent one are of Brazil and wanna a national unit, it could use Embraer Tucano or Cascaval, as I said, all these units would be great to 31OCM.
- Gran Colombia: Prócer (cavalry) was the Cavalry of Simón Bolivar, I'll do this unit in some weeks. Another name (but not usual) for it is Campañas Admirables.
- Tupi: Tamoio is perfect, if the mod will use two units per civ, Guayacuru (horseman) could be a good second unit.
- Austria: they have a unit that came with C3C, it replaces Cavalry, I suggest use it.
- Pictavia: Paint Warrior (swordsman), it was done, but I can't remember who did. Other names to this unit are Pict Warrior and Naked Warrior, I think.
- Abyssinians: Sween32 did a spearman to this civ, there is a archer available too.
- Manchu: Boxers (Cavalry or Knight)
- Tibet: Monk that cames with PTW

Well, these are my sugegstions :)
 
I'm going to use the Pictish Warrior for the Picts. Probably the Shifta (Arab Horseman) for the Abyssinians.

The monk which comes with PTW is a Japanese warrior monk.. we need a more Tibetan unit.

The Hussar which is intended as Austrian's UU might be a standard unit for all civs. However, I might use it for their UU. It's very generic so it would do good as both.
 
Etruria would be a good filel rfor italy, and Tartessos a good (if mystereous) placement in southern spain; i say this, as your current euro line up leaves out south western europe entirelly

Utah made an exellent Tibetan Footman. Make it a 1.4.1 Pikeman like the Swiss dude.

BTW the Swahili culture relied on the Dhow, so theres your UU. Made by Embryodead.

Seljuks should have some Horse dude. Maybe a 5.3.1 knight replacement.

Sweden could get the Carolin, a better Musketman.
 
You're about three months too late for that, Xen.

You could use the Napoleanic Gaurd Infantry as a Grenzer for Austria.

The Pictish Warrior is of course a Good Idea for the Picts, but I would call it 'Warbrand' and not 'Pictish Warrior'.

As you probably know, Civ.Army is making like a bajillion Brazillian units. The problem is which one to use! I'd take a late middle ages/early industrial unit myself, probably the Dragões da Indepêndencia.

Inuits? Doglsed. but there is no such unit.

The Xoing-Nu need a mounted Archer, since thats what they did.

Souix should have a mounted repeating Rifle, but unfortuenetly there isn't one made.

Tibet? The tibetan Footman by Utah Jazz. I'd have him be a (4.4.1) pike man replacement since the Tibetans were really nasty before they adopted Buddism.

Thats the Ostrogoths. The Visigoths were never really more then raiders while they were there..In Spain they actually had something closer to CIV III civilization standards.
 
You should use one of Kinboat's Mongols as a Xiong-Nu UU.. Call it the 'Raider' or something. It could be a knight replacement with Collateral Damage.
