The Great Lost Civilizations v1.0 - available ! 1.0

I succeeded in starting a game with your mod ! It looks like that little converting program is working well, I'll put it in my sig, and tell if it fails someday.

Everything is written in English, except some hardcoded parts, but oh well. But why must we all play with Snoopy's graphics ? Isn't there a version in which you only have the rule changes, not the graphical ones ? Just a question.

I'm gonna soon start a game, I hope I'll do well.

Great mod! I have a question. Shouldn't the peninsula in Turkey where Istanbul is located be connected? The Bosporus strait in it's narrowest spot is only 750 meters wide. I found this on the internet:

The Bosporus or Bosphorus (Turkish Boğaziçi or İstanbul Boğazı) is a strait that separates the European part (Rumeli) of Turkey from its Asian part (Anadolu), connecting the Sea of Marmara (Marmara Denizi) with the Black Sea (Karadeniz). It is 30 km long, with a maximum width of 3,700 meters at the northern entrance, and a minimum width of 750 meters between Anadoluhisarı and Rumelihisarı. The depth varies from 36 to 124 meters in midstrem.

Because IMHO they are much better, but feel free to put the graphics you want. If you want the original civ graphics just delete the snoopy's set included with GLC

Jeff, if you try other (at least comparable) games, like Rome - Total War, you'll see that no unit can Walk through the Bosphorus. You must rely on ship to pass the 750 m.
Of course we could assume that a single man can take a tiny boat, but remember that in Civilization, a unit represent hundred or thousands of soldiers, so you need one of your entire fleet (a ship unit) to help them pass the Bosphorus...

Well that's MHO ;)

ps: if you prefere, just open the editor and put a land tile here, but it will impact the gameplay in an unknow way...

This happened while I was playing. It popped up when I built the prophet unit as the hebrews.

You're right there's an error.

Here's the fix, unzip it in Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios\Great Lost Civilizations\Art\Units\Prophet folder.

Fix v1.01

Sorry for the convenience

Good mod, but you have to add the unit civpedia pics, and have maybe also have the ability of turning on accelerated production, elimination, and all those other options.

Are you French, out of curiosity? I noticed quite a bit of the background data have french names, which I figured explained your difficulty with spelling some stuff (its a pain working in a second language... I have my pathetic French grades to prove it ;p)

I went through the bic file and fixed a lot of spelling errors, so if you want I can email it to you.

Have not started on the civilopedia, but no fear! ;p

Thanks for the excellent and well thought out mod!

Aeon, you can do that for my scenario too.
I am French also !
(and so is Steph which means a few French modders around. Cocorico !)

Oh LL, I see you everywhere ;p

Your scenario looks pretty good for spelling, but no worries!

My lord, you Europeans make such amazing scenarios! I bet its because of all the druuuugs ;p

hahaahha and the best part is that i am busy writing a college essay about how i love editing papers and stuff ahahahaha ;p

you've seen right Aeon, I'm French.
Is my English such terrible ??? :D
I must admit that I've make a lot of spelling errors :(

It would be cool if you could send me the fixed bic file. And I feel that it would be christmas for me if you do the same for the Civpedia.

as for the Mod I'm trying to make my best to create things that I and others would like to play with  ;)

BTW, are you fan of ancient time too ? Because I've begun working on something like GLC but much more ambitious... :mischief:

What is it ???   Tell us, please ! :) BTW I hope my own mod will be ready when Civ4 ships.

I love history in general, but yes you could definitely say I am a fan of the ancient times.

So what would it be? A Peloponnesian war scenario? Or the campaigns of Ramses II? I noticed that you did the most work on Egypt, so my money is on something to do with him! ;p

I will send you the edited bic and will get to work on the Civlopedia ASAP!

Like I tell everyone, in about a month I will have gads of free time because I will have turned in my college apps... but I hope to have something for you well before then ;p

Has anyone else noticed what the best unit in the game is?

ANSWER: The Greek Chariot!

Normally I would say a 1.1.2 unit is not that big of a deal... but when you factor in its one shield price tag... well... it becomes a TEENY TINY ITSY BIT more useful!

I was playing as the Delian League (incidentally I did not make use of that little exploit to conquer all the island territory except for Crete... those bastards have a 25 man garrison!) when I noticed that little problem. I have a feeling that you forgot since there are no horses in Greece. I would not have noticed it if I hadn't felt the urge to trade for a few myself ;p

BTW would it be possible to add in a faster naval unit before galleys? It takes SOOOO long to get them, and in the mean time I have to sail around in my dinky little coracles... thirty or so of them!

Also, looking at the biq file reveals a dearth of lumber in the world. I believe that there are only eight tiles with it, and four of them are under Phonecian control from the start! Even Cyprus lacks it! Perhaps some lumber could be placed near Athens and Carthage, and maybe a few other civs? It really puts a wrench in the works, not having a crucial resource like that nearer than Gaul or Trieste!

Thanks for the map, will send the corrected biq right-taway!

Thanks.
We have to ask the others players what they though about this...
btw, you can just open the editor and allow them if you prefere. ;)

So, you guys, do you think I should turn on options such accelerated production or elimination ???

Yeah, it's well possible

But it's not focused on Rome only in that era of play...
...more infos to come soon (and why not with a screenshot) ;)

Here are the first hints...
1) It's a scenario

2) This is the flag of one of the available/playable nations
CarthagoBlazon2.gif

3) I made The Alexander's Tomb Wonder specifically for this scenario
AlexandersTomblarge.gif

nb: I will need various helps & advice on this one, I wanna it to be the best/fun scenario possible.

That's cool, I will open a thread in the main creation forum in sometimes for help and informations...

No peloponesian war scenario.
That's true that I made most work on Egypt and it shall continue in some form... (Egypt will definitively be in)

I will send you the edited bic and will get to work on the Civlopedia ASAP!
THX, I've sent you an PM with my email adress

There's no need to urge ;) It's not easy to studying properly, and have some time to play or even mod... :(

I take notes of your remarks :goodjob:

Anyway the Greek horses are in Thracia whose reputation for great cavalry is well known ;)
