Rise and Rule for Civ3:Conquests

More Civilopedia stuff:
The Tactical Nuke does not list a bombard range, although it has a range of 22. :nuke:

The Magna Carta can easily be renamed to Parliament. I definitely see your point there. Moving the Taj Mahal takes a little more work. The only techs I can see it fitting with would be Absolutism or Free Artistry, most likely Absolutism.

Of course that makes Steam Engine an Empty Tech, and we can't have any of those.

Speaking of which;
Screw Propeller is supposed to give Transports, i.e. Cruise Liners.

They are available one tech later - Mass Production. So no real change. Also commercial building would follow on from military usage. So I disagree. (Sorry Boss - ;) )

Civilopedia Error: When clicking on World Wide Web from the Internet Small Wonder, I get an invalid entry.

Still on 1.00. Haven't checked if it's valid on 1.01. Will upgrade as soon as I win this game.

I've just downloaded this mod from 3D Downloads and it comes in at 107mb rather than 115mb, then doesn't properly, telling me that there is an unexpected error. Can anyone help?!

Sorry, that should say "then doesn't install properly"!! It happens when it tries to load the Kublai Death Unit artwork and reckons the file is corrupt...

Hi Danilosilva

I've just downloaded the mod from 3DDownloads, and have no problems installing it, so something (possibly a bad connection, or a proxy-server used by your ISP) has corrupted your download. Try downloading it again, perhaps from the other download site (fileplanet).

Yeah, you got a corrupted download. The RaR file is actually only 107mb, so thats not the problem. You'll have to re-download it - hope you don't have dialup!

While browsing through the graphic section I found a thread called "Pikemen unit pack":

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=98668&page=1

Not all of the seven included verson are from interest for RaR, but there are some good-looking.BTW, is there an existing thread at CDG where you can post unit proposals? If not, I think such a thread would be useful, I guess there are a lot of people who have suggestions but don't know where to post them.

About Taj Mahal problem, a solution could be

1) Remove it from steam engine and put ironclad: to be updated to Dreadnought there are about 7/8 tech before.

2) on Industrialization put Coal plant: actually, it needs a factory in the city and then, why put it in a tecnology before factory?

3) where put Taj Mahal :) ?

@Kal-el (or other developers): why double worker action bonus is every off?

I actually posted a link to that thread many pages back, I'm constantly(well, kinda) working on new ones so I hope you can find a few that will be useful

Oh, I have missed that...but I guess it does not harm to bring it up again ;)

I'm not completly sure, but during betatest DocTS pointed out that RaR focusses on government based worker boni; it might be the reason for this too, since it strengthens the impact of governments even more.

It is not implemented because we want the player to change to a more modern form of government (later in the game) to get the increases in worker actions. Instead of a global changed based on researching a specific Tech. Advance.

As you upgrade to a later form of government, your workers may work more efficiently. It all depends on the government you chose. You also have to consider other factors such as unit support costs etc. :)

I had ever thinked that Taj Mahal was insert with steam engine as symbol of brithish colonialism on India...

This doesn't make any sense. The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughals (Arab invaders that had absorbed the local Hindi culture and created a wealthy Empire in the north of India), not by the British.

I too miss the worker bonus via tech advance. It make sense to me that at some point they should speed up because of better tools or methods, which is reflected in the tech advance. Surely the guys building highways and autobahns can do it quicker than the guys who built the roads connecting the cities in Ancient Greece.

But there are already enough worker speed boni, doubling it with a tech would be a bit of a stretch later in the game. If the tech advance could be set to increase by 50% instead of 100% I'd probably advocate more for changing it. Or failing that, changing it for my games. ;)

I do have a suspicoun that worker bonuses in a government above 200% work as if they are 200%. I didn't investigate but it seemed the case in one of my own mods.

Hey, I never said that it was made by British. Because RaR is a bit unbalanced to western view and Taj Mahal was popular in Europe/America under British empire, it has sense that it will be "discovered" by European countries with the developement of Steam engine (IIRC british made the indian railroad network, no?).

Suggestion:

Why not have the Taj Mahal require absolutism? Although the Moghal government was not similar to the European Absolutist states, the Moghals under akbar were the second, (and by far the most prominnet) state in South Asia to introduce a parrallel Civilian and Military Adminstration for thier state and to have an organized "nobility". What I mean by this is that Akbar arranged his government into a civilian adminstration, (this includes people like tax collectors, regional governers), but in addition to the civilian post assigned to a gov't servant they were also given a numbered rank in the Military system, and additionally would be responsible (in times of war) for mustering a certain number of troops. Akbar also reformed the nobility to include Hindus (which islamic states before the Mongols seldom included in high government posts), refomred the Moghal taxation system, and tried to create a state religion centered on his person.

So in the sense that the Moghal Empire was not a "treaditional" south asian state, the same way that Lious XIV (i hope I got the numbers right) "the Sun King's" France was not a "traditional" european monarchy, there is some room for anology. ALso the dates match up better; the taj mahal was built before the British used steam power.
