no in the World 2004, the US starts out with a Stryker unit in Iraq and can build more of them. but i'm playing version 1.3 which isn't public but i'm sure the Stryker was found in the original
Is this unit available seperately?

Thanks. Those were the best pic's I've seen of this unit yet. Annoying to me since they are based very close by (at Fort Lewis, WA).
The image
stryker-icon-icv.jpg
shows a fair bit of roof detail. What I was actually hoping for was a photo that showed the roof not 20% of the roof at a sharp angle. I suppose such a shot might not exist.

Thanks for the link.

The only version of "world 2004" I could find was v1.1 on fileplanet. I could not find 1.2, 1.3 nor just the stryker.
I went through the units in 1.1, and it does not include a stryker. The closest one was the BTR-80, which looks alot like much longer and maybe slightly narrower styker with a turret (instead of the remote control gun), a steeper nose and a few other details... but it was pretty close.
Was that the unit you were thinking of? Or is there a actual stryker out there somewhere?
Is there a location I could get either this stryker or a newer version of this mod?

For now, I am going to do the X303 first. This is still high on my list of units to do. I have done a couple of rough goes of it in Bryce, but for now I'm not happy with the results. If I find an existing mesh to use I will be able to finish this quickly.
If you want to speed this up, either an existing mesh (model) in 3ds, obj, lwo format... other formats might also work.
Otherwise my plan is: finish the x303, then start on 3d model for the stryker.

Failing a model, blueprints would also help.

The last model I showed of the Stryker was 'ok', but was a photoshop job and finishing it in that way would take a long time. Since I posted that, I've gotten into 3d rendering. This is alot easier and faster for most things, but there is a learning curve. And there is a huge difference in the quality of the tools. I'm using decent, but entry level tools. This means it takes me longer to make a good model then someone with a tool like 3d Studio Max.

The stryker and the Hummvee are quite different. The hummvee is faster, not armor and seldom has any firepower.
The Stryker is better protected and carries troops and a weapon; a hummer can carry only a few guys OR a gun, not both. It is the difference between a APC and a JEEP.

Acually Bjornlo the sryker is very terrible at shooting and has problems in iraq because the computer systems melt in the heat and the stinger humvee is faster because its not loaded down with all that extra stuff.

I've never been in a Stryker. I know they have some problems. But, I don't think they are that extreme. I'm more familiar with the LAV-25 and LAV III, which are very similar and never gave the USMC any problems that I was aware of. I know they are good enough that many of Americas allies have either made their own versions (the canadian Piranha) or bought American ones (New Zealand).
The Hummer is older then the Stryker, so most of the bugs have been worked out. But I can tell you the hummer is not trouble free. I spoke to old timers who used both the Jeep & the hummer and not one of them liked the hummer as much. In the Marines we (the troops) never thought our Hummers were worth much. They broke often. They floated away when crossing rivers a jeep would manage. They were not as good on broken terrain and so on...
The moral of the story is not that the Stryker sucks (I believe it is a good weapon system) nor that the hummer does. They both have preformed their mission well. Not perfectly, but well.
Given a choice as to which to be in, as an ex-marine I can tell you I would not want to be in a Hummer for anything rougher then a drive down a country road. The hummer is not as capable. It is faster... but not faster then a RPG. The real problem with the stryker is the cost. All that fancy stuff is not cheap. The Bradley is almost as cool and alot cheaper.

Stryker's aren't a bad vehicle. I fought in them in Iraq. I would love to see a Stryker unit I could use in CIV. Let me know if one ends up being produced.
