STARWARS EPISODE 3 - talk about it (Spoilers)

I was seriously and honestly hoping to see Y-Wings and R-41s and other old and outdated ships kicking butt in an era where they were state of the art ships

Hmm, thats going to discurage me more to see Episode III :s.

It was a great movie. I was so excited by the end of the movie I could barley stand. :p You should go see it and make up your own mind rather then baseing your choice on other people opinions. :p If you think it sucks you lose what $4-$8? ;)

I have at least two complaints and one comment:

Complaint #1: Everything seemed to fall into place for Episode IV too easily (like when Palpatine just decides, completely arbitrarily, it seemed, to give Anakin the name Darth Vader, or when Padme delivers: she immediately decides what to call both of them, and is nearly dead when she does it).

Complaint #2: Things seemed goofier than usual. Like that stupid lizard thing that Obi-Wan rode, or those wooden (?) helicopter-like machines. And the fact that Palpatine laughs evilly at every freakin' oppurtunity he gets, especially when he's fighting Yoda. My friend compared him to a video-game boss - the type who systematically throws something at you, then laughs (at which point he is vulnerable to attack), and then throws something again, and so on.

Comment: I thought it was kind of odd how, between every episode, and even sometimes within one episode, war machine design (fighters, capital ships, tanks, etc.) drastically changes, yet the droids hardly ever change. The type of droid that R2-D2 is has been in use for all six episodes! It would be like the creation of a super-advanced fighter jet that uses a 1960's navigational system.

Yep, it is right there...Comraddict, from Iowa who can't spot a joke from a mile off

Yeah I surprised how many people took that comment seriously... I guess Anarchy just isn't a regular any more.

I liked the movie, although it didn't give me the same great feeling at the end as did all three movies of the original trilogy (even Episode V). The psychological transformation of Anakin was very interesting, although it would have been 10 times better with a good actor.

There were two parts in the movie that as I watched them I was thinking "Oh my God that's awesome":
1.The space battle at the beginning where the two large battleships are firing at each other like they were ships on water.
2.When General Grievous says something like "You fool! Count Dooku has trained me in the force!" and proceeds to pull out four lightsabers.

I liked the fact that Grievous had lightsabers, but actually rather sucked with them. It showed that they were hard weapons to use, and that Grievous was good, but not Jedi good. I hate all that dark jedi crap in the EU...Its not logical..2 sith, thats it no more no less, and dark jedi are a horribly lame excuse to have a cool villian.

Well, I had been turned off by Jar Jar Binks in the Phantom Menace and turned off again by him again in Attack of the Clones (I was expecting for him to die in AOTC or at least disapear).

Well I for my part absolutley loved it. The drama and sheer epicness makes me rate it #1 of the 6. Even Darth's "NOOO" at the end. I did notice a couple things that disagreed with the early trilogy:

In EpV, as Luke goes off to Cloud City, Obi-Wan says of him "he was our last hope" and Yoda replies, "there is another" . . . which implies Obi-Wan had no idea of Leia's existance.

In EpVI, Luke asks Leia about her "real mother" and Leia gives a description, incredible since her real mother died when she was 5 minutes old.

eh, how can padame name her children at birth and then die? Leia said in episode 6 when luke asked her if she remembered her mom she said just barley, i don't remember when i was just born, and no one else does!

Presumably, his hardware is periodically overhauled and he is reinstalled with more modern software so that he's up to snuff with all the modern first-build machines.

In SW R2 is a 20 year old iece of technolgy. In real life most of the USAs military hardware is 20+ years old including Stealth Fighters, M1 Abrams, F14,15,16,18 fighter planes, etc etc. Technolgy in alot of ways doesn't improve much as a basic blaster has been around for around 4000 years.

I would have loved if they had have got Liam Neeson to have a small appearence at the end. They would have been amazing

I got a book on the art of Episode 3 last night and in it is a screenplay for the film and in it he does make an appearence, telling Yoda about how it's possible to communicate from death and also more interesting, how you can kind of "give yourself up" to the force. the way in which Obi Wan did in Ep4. Rather than dying you can sort of "dissolve" into the force and still retain all your thoughts and feelings, seems like some sort of immortality. There was another line along the lines of "with this skill we are stronger than the Sith and can finally deafeat them"

He only has one line in Episode 3: "'Scuse me!" I would have rathered that he fell into the boiling lava and died slowly screaming to death, but being mostly silent will have to do.

Isn't R2 called outdated in the later films?

Yeah, by ROTJ he's outdated and old compared to the newer R5's. (I have too much time on my hands reading SW books  )

OOH! I figured out the importance of Obi Wan talking to Qui Gonn, Obi Won learns how to communicate also and that's how he stays in touch with luke.

I would have prefered if he had gotten run through with a light saber. Now that would have been great. But sadly, he lives :(

At least he doesn't appear in the next episode.

Maybe she's remembering Bail Organa's wife rather than her true mother.

1. To little time with Sith Lord Darth Vader.
2. Vader crying "NOooOoOooooOOooOooo" in the end! :cringe:

Other than that, it's absolutely great! :king: :goodjob:

I fully agree with both of your points. Although the movie could have been much better, if the fights with the lightsabers would have been longer, e.g. Grievous vs Obi. It seemed quite too easy for them (Anakin and Obi) to kill Dooku and Grievous. Talking about lightsabers, Obi tryed a chinese opening to his fights....

Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the CGI effects, the funny parts with the robots and the ending of the story.
