GoobNES01: Fallout – Update 20, “World War V - Hyperwar”

World Weekly News, December 31st, 1986

UIS, Russia go to war in what is being dubbed “Hyperwar”

It was an astonishing series of events that led to this date, when the UIS and Russia, 2 powerful neighbours, finally went to war. Many expected it, the rhetoric had been building for years, and the recent controversy over the alleged spying of Russia in the UIS only ratcheted up those tensions. However, nobody expected the UIS and Russia to actually attack each other. At least, Russian and UIS Armies would likely never go to combat. The sheer size of their armies would mean a long, grueling war that neither could or would win, conventionally. Nobody wanted to contemplate the devastating effects that a full-scale Nuclear War would have. Or using other WMDs, to boot. Well, it did happen, and the WNN will chronicle this War, which is not over, month by month, starting with the first events first.

February, 1986

Rumors that the UIS has developed nuclear Weapons start to circulate. There are hints of secret factories and a massive stockpile. The majority of Muslims are very much against WMDs, considering them the tools of the devil. Russia, who announced that their entire Nuclear Stockpile will be dismantled, is publicly challenging the UIS to do the same, but the UIS Government refuses to admit that it does or does not have Nuclear Weapons, declaring that information a state secret. Muslims begin protesting in the streets of major cities, demanding an answer, and Clerics and Mullahs are challenging the Government to reveal what the UIS has. Russian elections yield in a very Nationalist General being elected, a clear sign that Russians have had enough of this “war” with the UIS, and want the 2 powers to either fight, or declare peace, but do something. Negotiations seem to go nowhere with the UIS and Russia.

April

The Nuclear Crisis is now full-blown. Many UIS Generals, worried that the Russians might use this opportunity to strike, start proposing Martial Law be implemented to deal with the growing violence and tensions. Leaked documents from the UIS suggest that they have Nuclear Weapons, as the official denials continue. Then disaster strikes. The War, which had been a Cold One to this point, starts. And it starts with a bang. After, we would know that the UIS had rudimentary Nuclear-Weapon making information, and had built a small stockpile. The UIS, worried that Russia would try and destroy the UIS in one massive blow, was secretly building Suitcase Nuclear Bombs and planting them in major Russian Cities and Military Bases. The UIS felt that they needed protection. Well, it sort of backfired. The KGB discovered this plot, and tried to stop it, at the same time, Russia increased its Military Presence along the UIS Border, and increasing its Military overall. The UIS apparently felt that this was the beginning of the war, and tried to use their Nuclear Suitcase Bombs to destroy enough of Russia to stop the attack.

We still do not know how many bombs they had, but it was at least 20. We now know that 3 never got into the country, and can reasonably expect that the UIS was planning on planting more. The KGB stopped a total of 7 of the bombers. That left 13. Apparently 3 of the Bombers decided that they would not go through with the plan, and turned themselves into Russian Authorities. That left 10. Of the 10, 7 actually detonated, 3 simply failed to work, either as a result of poorly made bombs, weather, or human error. 7 Nuclear Suitcase Bombs, which were small, and, as experts say, did not function as they should, reflecting a possibly lack of knowledge within the UIS on how to make these types of weapons. 4 of the 7 went off near Military Bases, and caused the death of approximately 30,000 troops. 3 of the 7 went off in Russian Cities, St Petersburg, Moscow, and Kiev. The one in Kiev did the most damage, going off in the Industrial Heartland of that city. The other 2 went off in more Residential areas, but definitely did not totally take out the city. In fact, in the sprawling city of Moscow, only about 10 city blocks were destroyed. Still, the damage caused, both physical, economic, and emotionally was devastating. They all detonated on a Wednesday, which is now being reflected upon as Nuclear Wednesday. The response from the Russian Government was pure, sheer outrage. They demanded an apology from the UIS Government, and demanded that a full explanation be made. The UIS Government was in crisis, being that only the President knew of the plan, which had apparently gone off sooner then it should. We now know that these bombs were supposed to go off when the Russians launched their attack, but the Russians were not intending on attacking, not just yet. We estimate perhaps 70,000 civilians died in these attacks, most in the Moscow and St Petersburg Apartments that were destroyed.

Muslims throughout the UIS went into the streets, protesting, in many cases violently, the occurrence. They condemned the Government for taking innocent Russian lives, saying it was the Russian Government who had been inflicting hardship upon Muslims, not the Russian People. The UIS Government fell, as Minister after Minister resigned. Kurdistan, Pakistan, and Iraq left the UIS immediately, and Turkey and Iran followed. But, 2 weeks later, the situation would change again . . .

2 weeks later

The Russian Government officially responded to this crisis, and the response was violent, and brutal. They launched the single largest missile strike in the world against the UIS, attacking strategic command centers, military bases, and airports. They used thousands of short, medium and long range missiles, in what is being dubbed in the single largest missile strike in the world. The Russians used virtually every missile they had in their arsenal, and what was on those missiles was devastating. They were not Nuclear Weapons, but small, Anti-Matter Warheads. They were build specifically to destroy smallish areas, like Military Bases, meant for surgical strikes. They literally destroyed everything, and leave behind more radiation then a normal nuclear weapon, and mean a dangerous new area in WMD Warfare has just started. Not all the UIS Missiles reached their targets. The Israeli-Filipino ICBM Shield in space downed about 40% of the missiles, and the UIS Missile Shield downed another 20% of the smaller ranged missiles. But that did not matter. The effect was the same. The UIS Army and Airports were crippled, as well as countries that remained in the UIS. The chaos in the UIS continued, but Turkey rejoined the UIS. The Russian Fleets and Air forces bombed and torpedoed all remaining UIS ships and planes, and those from countries still in the UIS.

2 Weeks Later

The bombings and Torpedoings have ended, Kurdistan, Pakistan, Iraq and Iran remained outside of the UIS, as the countries still in the UIS try and cope, and deal with the resulting damage. The major country in the UIS, the UIR, is in a near state of anarchy, as minority groups in former Lebanon and Syria try and wage Wars of Independence. Chad is also in trouble, with the Southern Christians successfully fighting off the surviving UIS forces. Casualties from the UIS cannot be determined, but it is estimated less then 10,000 civilians died. Perhaps up to a million UIS troops died, and thousands of tanks and the like were destroyed. The UIS consists of Saudi Arabia, with its Oil Fields badly damaged, and in need of disparate repair, Turkey, full of nationalistic tensions, and those demanding that Turkey and the UIS take back Cyprus and Kurdistan, and make them parts of Turkey again, Afghanistan, still struggling to become a united country, plagued by violence and ethnic tensions, the UIR, being torn apart by ethnic tensions, Libya, under the control of a despot whom most of the world resents, Chad, with a violent Christian Uprising occurring again which will undoubtedly be more successful this time, and a bunch of impoverished African Nations. The UIS is not dead, but certainly down, and weakened. Can it survive? Yes, probably. It just needs time. And peace.

July

Russia announces that the war is, in their books, over. The UIS is slowly getting itself back together, but the process with take many more months, and must content with a population which sees the UIS as being associated with the Weapons of the Devil, and a Constitution which many member nations do not like. The UIS is not gone, just not doing very well. In Russia, after the Russian economy plummeted after the Nukes went off, things are getting back to normal, but now with the greatest Nationalistic outcry the world has ever seen. This is the greatest Nationalistic Fervor to hit any nation, and the President seems to be the one at the center of it all. Russians are burying their dead, and saying that they fully support the Government in their efforts to rebuild the devastating Parts of Russia, and ensure that this never happens again. The new Russian President is seen as a Hero for quickly and decisively ending the war. Russians saw this as a strike against the UIS, and not Muslims. However, in Russia, some insurgent groups have sprung up, taking Hostages, and using bombings and killings to demonstrate that not all Muslims are happy with this. Certain cells of Extremist Fundamentalist Muslims are causing trouble in the Southern Portions of Russia. The vast majority of Muslims in Russia, it seems, accept the fact that Russia attacked the UIS, and not Muslims. We now leave this extraordinary series of events for the rest of the news.

OOC – I have no idea of how many soldiers, ships, planes etc were destroyed or died. Most of the UIS's, and some of the Russians. The stats, once I finish with them, will be accurate.

Poland Liberated as Sweden invaded by Germany!

Poland has, for the second time, been liberated by Russia from the grasp of a Nazi Germany, but under far different circumstances this time. Germany, not wanting to face war with Russia, let Russian troops occupy Poland, and freed it, Droeger giving the excuse that “Fighting Russia for Poland is simply not in the best interests of Germany”. German forces withdrew from Poland – only to be sent straight to Sweden and Norway. Germany occupied Sweden in less then 5 hours, the time it took to drop paratroopers in the Northern Regions of the country, and to land more troops and tanks. Sweden, not having a military, could do little to stop it. The Entente, which was arranging defense for Sweden, could not act fast enough, but Entente Troops did take up positions in Norway, and signed an Agreement with Norway protecting it from Germany. Germany lost Poland, but gained Sweden, and, in return, exchanged the most violent uprising by the Poles for the very mild one by brave bands of Swedes. Some Swedes, especially in the North, continue to fight, but most have finally, after 8 months, accepted German Rule. In other parts of Germany, the uprising in Yugoslavia has been crushed, and the Austrian one continues to fester, but the German economy is on the rise. Germany is now much bigger, has a much larger population, land, and resources, and is ready to join the club of Superpowers, in a few years time, that is. Droeger's Nationalist Speeches continue to cause Germans, of all ethnicity, religion, and background, unlike the last Nazi Government, to support him, by a factor of 80%. The German Government has been re-organized, but many in the occupied regions say they ought to be fully included in the German Government, if they are to be a part of Germany. This might present a challenge to Droeger's grip on power, if it happens.

Argentina unlocks Hydrogen Car Technology Secrets

Argentina has finally revealed the secret to its Hydrogen Cars, and this means that Car Companies around the world can finally start making Hydrogen-powered Vehicles. In the USA, Germany, and Japan, auto companies that used to make conventional cars are very relieved, especially in the USA, where the Big Three was cut down to the Big Two after Chrysler ceased to exist as an Auto Company, out of falling revenues. Argentina still makes the highest volume of hydrogen powered cars, and is chipping away at a 2 year ordering list, but other nations will soon answer to the legions of car owners who want to save big and save the environment by going green with Hydrogen. Experts say that Global Warming and Global Pollution is starting to decrease for the first time in history, and this is mostly thanks to Hydrogen powered vehicles. Argentina revolutionized the world, and the world is a better place for it.

Greece topples Albanian Government, annexes Albania!

Greece, in a very bold move, has invaded and annexed its smaller neighbour, Albania. The Communist Regime in Albania has been toppled, thanks mostly to Greek Troops, and Albania is now a part of Greece, at least, in Greek eyes. The old Communist Regime was on the verge of collapse for many years, and many thought it would have collapsed far before now. It was a hardline, Stalinist Regime, and the leader seemed so out of touch with the people and reality that many thought his top Military Officials would do the world a favour, and remove him, but, unfortunately, he remained, until the Greeks killed him, when they accidentally killed him. Albania if “free”, but now a part of Greece, and its citizens are finding the transition from Communism to Capitalism difficult. There is no armed uprising against the Greeks, mostly because of a lack of arms with which to cause an uprising, but Albanians, and particularly Muslims Albanians are anything but happy to be part of Greece, especially against their choice. Greece is promising Albania to be included in the next Greek elections in 2 years, and that result shall surely be interesting.

Compromise ends Head of State debate in USA

In the USA, the debate over the Head of State proposals in the 5 former Canadian States has been ended, with a compromise. The 5 States finally bowed to pressure, accepting to rename their proposed Ceremonial Head of State Lieutenant Generals instead of Governor Generals, and to recognize that the President of the USA is legally the Head of State, while recognizing that their Lieutenant Generals are naught but Ceremonial Heads of State only. This issue was purely political, and was a war of words between those provinces, headed by BC and Ontario, seen as the more rebellious, most left-wing American States who love nothing more then openly challenging Washington and defying tradition and customs in the USA. Their law are the most Liberal in the USA, and they maintain fully public, Universal Health Care Systems, and have actually, in BC at least, outlawed Private Health Care, which is also starting to ruffle some feathers.

Anti-Abortion Rallies in American South subside

As the effects of Roe v. Wade, the ground-breaking US Supreme Court challenge which saw Abortion be made legal all across the USA by the US Supreme Court continue to be implemented, the riots and protests, sometimes violent, against legal abortion have subsided in the Southern US, which is deeply Christian, and anti-Aborti9on, to the extreme in some cases. The USA does have to deal with a certain pro-Life group named “Americans for Life!” that is using violent tactics, such as beatings of doctors who perform abortion, damaging their property, and, in one case, bombing an Abortion Clinic. The FBI and Police are cracking down, but the group does appear to have support among some Christian Extremists.

Finland agrees to a Military Deal with Russia

Finland has formally announced that it has achieved a Military Deal with Russia, which essentially is an MPP between the 2 neighbours. It was only a couple years ago that the same right-wing party that negotiated this deal was seeking closer ties to Germany, but, now that Russia has gone from a Liberal to a Nationalistic Government, it seems that they are willing to work with their neighbour. The Military Deal was obviously made to ensure that Russia protected Finland from Germany, who is doing its conquering-weaker-neighbours actions again.

Italian Referendum succeeds with 54% saying YES to Separatism

The Italian Referendum has succeeded with 54% of those who voted saying YES to Italian Separatism. This came despite a lavish campaign by the USE trying to persuade Italians to remain in the USE. The USE Campaign seemed somewhat hypocritical, since the USE officially did not recognize the campaign. The Referendum was organized by the local Italian Provincial Government, and the USE Parliament and Government did not recognize it as valid. This result, a fairly clear YES for Sovereignty, is a bit of a crisis for the USE. There is no official means to get out of the USE, no means of peacefully separating from it, yet Italians just voted to. This might have to be settled at the ICJ, but the question remains does a possible ICJ ruling that the Referendum was valid mean that Italy would automatically become a separate country? Does the ICJ have the ability to affect situations like that so much? We will keep you updated.

USE opens Moon Base amid great fanfare

The USE has joined the growing list of countries to have colonized the Moon with a colony of their very own. The USE Colony is the second largest, and definitely has room to expand. It is the most modern, and includes many features not available for the other nations who have built theirs. China is expected to build one soon. The unique feature about the USE Moon Base is that it includes future plans for Tourist Hotels at the moon, which would include Moon Walks, and other trips around. This would be a historic first around the world.

The Moon – Who really owns it?

As nations around the world build Moon Bases, a nagging question has always come to light – who actually owns the Moon? Currently nations just claim a chunk of it as their own, but there is no formal Law of the Moon, like there is a Law of the Sea, for instance. Some are wondering if the big and powerful nations should adopt a Treaty or Rulebook to saw who can colonize what, how, and when. Some are worried that as more nations come to the moon, the space there will be less and less, and this might lead to conflict. A Law of the Moon might be a solution to this. But will the major nations of the world listen?

ICJ rules that Panama legally part of USA

In an 11-1 Ruling, the ICJ has declared that Panama is legally part of the USA. The Ruling said that Colombia, under its former Communist Dictatorship, illegally attacked Panama, and made it, unwilling, part of its nation. Then, when Colombia's Communist Regime fell, Panama was liberated. The ICJ said that the Referendum that Panamanians held on their future “was legal and democratic in every sense of the word”. The ICJ said unequivocally that Panama is legally the 54th (OOC – not quite sure of its number, could be 55th) State of the USA. The dissenting Judge was probably either Colombia, PRCA, or Venezuelan.

PRA falls as USE invades it, toppling yet another Communist State

The People's Republic of Africa is no more, as the USE unexpectedly decided to liberate it, and invaded. The invasion is, as Military Experts will say, a classic one. They crushed the PRA's military in one quick and decisive swoop, netting all the PRA's major leadership, and breaking the PRA Military before it could react properly. The operation occurred as the PRA and AC went to war, in August of 1985, meaning that by late August, all of the PRA was under USE control, with the ex-PRA leaders in custody. Then the USE turned to governing the territory it brutally and quickly conquered, and that is turning out to be more difficult. Remnants of the old PRA Regime are fighting the USE wherever they can, and have launched an insurgency. The PRA populace are not happy with the invasion either, yes, they are rid of their Communist Oppressors, but they remember what Spain, which formed the USE, did to Muslims in specific, and Africans in general, during the North African War many years ago. The memories of the Spanish rounds of WMDs used against their brothers, and other events, is causing Africans in the PRA to hope that the USE leaves soon, and doesn't follow in their old ways.

OOC – Yes, they have a long memory. Yes, you can start cursing me. Yes, this is partly revenge for your old NES on MP. Remember Quebec?

Controversy amid Abortion, Death Penalty continues as Supreme Court in USE denies authority

The Supreme Court of the USE (OOC – Of course you have one, Josef, everyone does) has issued a written communique today saying that the issue of Abortion and Death Penalty is not in its hands. According to the USE Constitution, it is up to the local State Governments, like Italy, France, and the like, to decide how they want their laws on the subjects to be. This essentially means that the USE Supreme Court has no authority in the matter, and therefore cannot make the decision. It also explicitly says that the USE parliament, according to the Constitution, has no right to declare how issues like Abortion and the Death Penalty should be decided, since those are, according to the Supreme Court's interpretation of the Constitution, issues for States to deal with.

Korea limits Nuclear Deterrent to 20 Nukes as it receives AID, NAPs

It seems that the world, or, at least, China, Japan, and Russia, finally realized that Korea was willing to reduce the number of nukes it had from around 50 to 20, and then to 0 if it received sufficient aid and assurances that it would not be invaded. The Korean Economy is increasing, and Capitalism is starting to creak into the nation as Japan and China opened its Economic Trading doors to Korea. Some feel that once Korea gets rid of its Nukes, and starts to embrace Capitalism, perhaps Capitalism could be the key to changing this nation from Communism to Democracy. An International Inspection Agency has been created to monitor Korea's Nukes, and ensure that they do not go above 20. This organization, with nations like Quebec and Colombia sending Inspectors, is independently verifying that Korea is indeed staying true to its word.

Chinese Economy booms as Government efforts to reduce poverty start having an effect

The Chinese Economy is showing how China is a Green Dragon, made of money, rather then the Red Communist Dragon that it used to be. The Chinese economy is booming, and there is no end in site. China has been heavily investing on infrastructure and alleviating poverty in the center of the country, and the effects are paying off. China's economy went up 2 levels, as its ports boom with shipping. China has funds to invest in its Military and its Space Program, while still being able to eradicate poverty in China. Analysts say that China's economy could, conceivably, climb to 30 eco/turn in a few years, if it continues to be so prosperous. China is still, experts say, a country which is developing, and is not quite ready to be considered developed or industrialized. China is the world's most powerful country, economically. It is the elephant in the world, economically wise, and there might be no stopping China in the future.

China's Gambling Laws the harshest in the world!

China has enacted a series of laws and rules regarding Gambling that are, experts say, the harshest in the world. Taxes on Gambling sometimes consume 80% of the cost of Gambling, and the restrictions are sometimes Draconian. China was forced to permit Gambling after a Supreme Court challenge by a Gambling Company said it was unconstitutional to not allow Gambling. Gambling Companies are appealing to the Supreme Court again to have some of the harshest restrictions overturned, but it is doubtful that the Supreme Court will listen. Most expect that it will say that the Chinese Government is within the law to set restrictions as it sees fit.

Fascist Uprising in Colombia worsens

The Fascist Uprising in Colombia is worsening, as attacks grow by the day in both size and fierceness. pro-Fascist groups are demanding that Colombia return to its “natural Fascist past”, and are attacking a harrying the Colombian Military, and targeting some Civilian targets. The Government is fighting the insurgents, and calling them “bloodsucking Fascist Pigs”and the like, which is only serving to increase the violence. Colombia used to be Fascist before its regime was topple, and the DemoCommunist Regime was implemented that is in place today.

Cultural Revival in Japan

Japan is undergoing a Cultural Revival, as interest in Japan's history and culture grows. Japan today is a modern nation, with big cities full of businessmen. Many of Japan's growing older generation say that the younger is rapidly growing out of touch with their culture and their history, and have been working to try and change that. Well, it appears to be working, as more Japanese revive their old ways, visit temples, including the controversial shrine that commemorates alleged War Criminals. Government-funded projects to revitalize temples and the such are having a positive effect, say the older generation.

Japanese economy does well as concerns about population age mount

Riding high on the technology, computer, and auto industries in Japan, the Japanese Economy increased by another level as concerns about Japan's aging population start to mount. 10 years ago, Japan stopped growing, as a nation. It's birth rate went to 2, then started to decrease. It is currently at 1.5 today, and that is not enough to sustain the population. It means that Japan's population is aging, as the more less young that are born means the more older the population gets, and that will yield to a Social Pension crisis in another 20 years if this trend continues. Japanese are simply not marrying at the same rates, and having smaller families, as they find they simply lack the time to take care of their families anymore, and the cost of children is too high. This trend has not reached a crisis, but it one day might. Japan's rate of immigration is low, because foreigners often do not feel welcomed in Japan, which, as a tradition, treats Foreigners as outsiders.

Provisional Executive Council restores order in Bulgaria

Law and Order has finally been restored to Bulgaria after all the major political parties agreed to a Provisional Executive Council (PEC). The PEC is expected to act as an Interim Government, and to organize elections, which might finally mean that Bulgaria can have a real legitimate Government. The nation seems ready for elections next year, providing they are successful, that is.

Yugoslavia announces breakthrough in Gene Therapy and Splicing Technology!

Yugoslavia has unveiled that it has reached a breakthrough in the fields of Gene Therapy and Gene Splicing. It could, theoretically, use Genetics to cure some ailments in humans. There have been tests done, with some good results, but this technology is not yet available for the mass-public. It is also expensive, and does not have totally guaranteed results. In 2-3 years, experts say the technology might be able to cure millions, but it is still in its early steps.

Amnesty appeals to world to stop Chilean Genocide

Amnesty International is appealing to the world to step in, and stop the Chilean Dictator, Augusto Pinochet from completing his Genocide of his Southern Mapuche minority. Pinochet has been viciously murdering this minority, trying to exterminate them as he feels that they are lesser people. This became clear from the stories of Mapuchans fleeing Chile to Argentina, and bringing their stories with them. Controversially, the Chilean Armed Forces have sometimes invaded Argentina to pursue these refugees from a certain death, and this is causing tensions with Argentina. As the genocide continues, the Death Toll creeps ever closer to 100,000. Will the world come in and stop the slaughter?

Bureaucratic Wrangling halts plans to unify Christianity

Minor disagreements over certain parts of the plan to unite Christianity have stalled the progress of this historic and momentous occasion. The dispute is over which sects of Christianity will have access to the Christian Cathedral, to be constructed in Bethlehem, Israel when. Orthodox and other small sects are claiming that the Roman Catholics are demanding too much out of them, and they have refused to attend meetings and help the progress of this cause unless their demands are met. The situation seems to not be getting better with time, and might lead to the end of talks altogether.

Republic of Mindanao created from Philippines

It was a historic day in the Philippines as Filipino Muslims finally got their long-awaited homeland on Mindanao. Citizens of this new nation voted overwhelmingly to separate, and so they did. A new Muslim nation was born, but it is already in minor conflict with the Philippines. Mindanao has been openly encouraging Muslims to return to their homes from when the Filipino Government used to drive them from Mindanao, hoping to end the Muslim domination of the island. As thousands of families return, they demand their old homes and their old lands, mostly inhabited by Christians who moved to the island. The Mindanese courts have ruled consistently for the Muslims, driving many Christians from their homes, and angering the Philippines. Another thorn in their relationship is that the Philippines continues to insist that Mindanao have no WMDs of any kind. Mindanao continues to insist that it is well within their right to have WMDs, and they will have them, if they so choose. The issue is driving a wedge between the 2 nations, and might lead to war. The SEAR has announced that it will be an ally of Mindanao though, important for this young nation.

Malaysia announces prize to travel in Space!

The Malaysian Government has announced a 2 Billion Dollar prize to the first private company to launch a space ship in space. There is a 10 year limit on the prize, and the first company or group to do it twice within a month will win the coveted prize. The prize, says the Malay Government, is to encourage travel and tourism in space. Several groups have already started to plan for the exciting challenge.

Russia announces design for new style of rocket

Russia has announced that is will be designing and hopefully flying, within a few years, a new style of rocket. This rocket will not travel in conventional fuel, but some kind of photon system, using a totally new and revolutionary type of propellant. This will be the first photon rocket in the world if it works as planned, and might lead Russia to be the masters of Space. Few details about the mechanics of the rocket were released, ostensibly to protect the secret.

Indonesia attacks, annexed Timor!

Indonesia, in a surprise and totally unexpected move, has conquered and annexed Timor. Indonesia has, for years, been preparing for some kind of military conquest, and they finally put it into action. Landing close to 300,000 troops, they attacked in large numbers, and overwhelmed the CU and USE forces protecting the island, which is shared between the USE and CU. All soldiers were killed, although the CU soldiers put up a good fight, which meant that about 30,000 Indonesian troops were killed. This attack happened only 2 months ago, so the CU and USE has not taken back their colonies yet, but Indonesia has definitely issued a grave challenge to the world. The CU and USE have declared war on Indonesia, and some think the SEAR and Malaysia will join, and rid the world of Suharto for once and for all.

India's economy improves amid poverty

India's economy increased by a level as it continued its reforms to improve the nation, but, unlike China, India is not investing enough into its infrastructure and such. Poverty still remains bad in India, and is only getting worse. The Indian Government has not been investing very much in alleviating poverty and improving infrastructure, which it needs to if it wants to become more powerful economically one day. The Indian Government has announced more reforms, as Indira Ghandi enters her 4th year in office including zoning laws, speed limits being enforced, and protecting historical sites. Relations with Pakistan continue to improve, as Pakistan left the UIS, and is now free to enter into any kind of agreement with India that it likes, minus the restrictions by the UIS.

let us all drink to the great Goober! Vodka for all!

A blow to the arrogance of sheep! you have a better intell then the KGB don't you? :p

yes, i had no part in extremely weakening the UIS but i will forego my oath of not drinking alcohol to celebrate this update! *drinks Storm's vodka*

Let's drink to Icarus for not driving my economy into the ground!

I am accepting congratulations and help to rebuild. Afterall I was the one doing the durty work but we all had the desire at one time or another ;)

Let's drink to Icarus creating a huge demand for H2-power. *evil grin*

And drink to Stormy for finally doing something about all that stupid rhetoric which flooded and filled up 50% of GoobNES's boards. And drink to ...

Well, just bloody drink. Arrr.

You make a remarkably persuasive argument.

Ahh, the spirit of the moment has worn off. Here we are being the youth of nations (relatively speaking) being corrupted by Russian Vodka... And of course, a Chinese living in New Zealand....

China offers Russia 5 econ to rebuild and if needed trained teams of doctors, and other emergency teams if needed.

Congrats on the victory druze stormbringeru!*drink various liqour*(I knew that liquor cabinet would pay off)
Ohh and Goober that part with crushing resistance in Yugoslavia,I hope that is a mistake, knowing my arsenal of bio, chemical and nuclear weapons.

Also antimatter bombs, there are so many levels of wrong on this,I'm not willing to discuss it.Okay one problem for now:Antimatter is so goddamn expensive like $25 billion per gram.

Chinese contribution is apreciated

OOC: lets see how many more people are scared enough to pay me tribute. One down already.

The joy of it is that you need only a few positrons, and they weigh as much as electrons - virtually nothing. So paying a few billion for a few grams will supply me with enough for the next 5 decades.

You need half a gram to match Hiroshima bomb, 10-30 grams to match a typical modern nuclear warhead, slightly over 1 kg to match Tsar-Bomba.But I will not be annoying, because if Goobs allowed antimatter weapons...well that means other weapons :)

*sighs* this will end up with stormbringer bringing huge scientific essays to support him.... the bore...

well, no, because that would mean describing to everyone exactly how I bypassed the problem and making it possible for everyone to build these weapons. I will just say that 10 years of research payed off.

How?As far as the update tells us its like a really powerful nuclear weapon only cheaper.Unless zombies rise after the strike I just cant see cost/benefit.
