Sliders (original cast)

I actually liked Babylon 5, but I assumed this thread was about shows that are still on.

I always thought Farscape had a great deal of potential that was thrown away. They used alien diversity and implanted the crew with self-interested motives. But, that's about as far as the ingenuity got. :)

I liked Stargate SG 1, but the show really lost it in the latter seasons.
I also like Startrek a lot, but the Enterprise show is dull, I liked Voyager far better !

DEFINITELY the Battlestar Galactica, in these days.

That show is great, the first sci-fi ever without those stupid moralistic issues, poor scripts etc. The special effects are amazing, story is perfect, actors performance is excellent, I like it very much. Compared with BSG, every other sci-fi I know (with exception of Babylon 5) is naive, boring, full of illogical things I'd never do (like letting a goauld with stealth cloaking device go free, because they've given her a word - WTF?!  ), full of ignorance of what was said earlier about some techs/persons/planets/whatever.
BSG looks... "natural", when I watch it, I can believe those characters would behave similarly in "real" life. No super-heroes saving worlds and killing 100 jaffas with P-90, while using technobabble to solve any problem :p

So my list would be:

Battlestar Galactica 2003-2005
Babylon 5 (very good sci-fi)
Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (the best Star Trek, IMHO)
Star Trek: The New Generation (nostalgy)
SG-1 - early seasons
ST: Enterprise (lack of sci-fi in that time ;) )

Only SG-1 upto season 6 and ST Enterprise have been aired here.
Maybe some others in the past, but that's been a long time then.

Same goes for a Belgian. American can watch it for free, so why shouldn't we ;)
The only problem is, it's hard to find :)

I will cop a lot of hate for saying this but here goes. Stargate sucks. I really cannot understand the passion that many people have for this stupid show. :D So now is a list of some sci fi shows that I liked, because I do not watch much Sci-Fi nowadays.

Lexx. I am glad that someone esle has meantioned this show.
Sliders. I really like this show.
Dark Angel. I am dumbfounded that this show did not go very far. It was very disappointing not see what could have happened to this show. Did help having Jessica Alba as Max.
X-files. This has to be the classic Sci-Fi show, much better than any Star Trek

To be honest, I am not much of a Sci-Fi fan,

Deep Space 9. By a wide margin.
Babylon 5 (the shadow arc only) is great as well - but the last season sucks.
SG-1 is ok; SGA boring.
Next Generation has great parts as well.

One of the best series ever is of course "Raumpatrouille Orion" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raumpatrouille) - but I bet tis is as unknown as UFO (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UFO_(TV_series)). :(

Galactica? How can anyone enjoy that? Ever seen the original ones? They're as horrible as 'Mork from Ork'!

Fortunately not. I am talking about the remake. Once you get used to the fact the Colonials are Americans, all is well ;)

Yeah, sure. The problem is I don't have DVD-ROM and money for that ;) :D

Sliders were good, in the beginning.

(I forgot, the music in BSG is the best I've ever heard in TV series)

Indeed. Jamie Bamber (Apollo) does a tremendous job of using an American accent in the show, given his London roots. :)

Babylon 5
Robotech (anime) and the rest are anime :)

Dark Angel. Haven't really seen anything else that comes close. haven't seen a really good spacey sci fi series in a long long time.

Stargate was very good when it didn't take itself seriously. fits into the buffy/angel way of looking at itself.

Babylon 5 is my favourite, closely followed by ST DS9.

Does Red Dwarf count as SF or only as comedy?
Anyway, love this, great humour in a SF packaging.

Red Dwarf is a SF comedy so yeah I'd count it as such. complete comedy gold but unfortunately the series are too short :(
