It happened very often in OTL, and elsewhere as well.

So, Cleric, will I get that new arm I ordered?

Sure,so do you want the Arminator 2k model or the regular one? :)

The regular one, but prefferably a one that won't be so bloody easy for some silly ubergeomancer to cut off.

Question: With all this conquering I'm doing, why aren't I getting an economic boost from the increase in tradable goods, and increased taxation/tribute I get from the increased population in the conquered territories?

In regards to regular military, we find your offer acceptable. Although we would appreciate the ability to maintain 10 priests and 5 rocs as well. If you agree, then we have peace.

After a quick change into some dry clothing aboard the Treeship, Lady Morgan went out to meet with the Ruler of Gorin, Merzan. behind her trailed a small procession of Avaloniansa : a Trio of Nurtures bearing a small potted sapling, A pair of Infenter carrying a Large chest between them, and green haired avalonian carrying a small glass bottle, surrounding him were three infantry gaurding him.

"greetings, Lord Merzan." Lady Morgan opened the discursion with a short bow and a smirk on her face. "It is a pleasure to meet you in person, for our discursion of peace between us. I have even brought gifts for you.."

OOC:
Lady morgan. 5ft, 9inches tall. Night black hair with star white speckles with in it. Emerald green eyes. very slightly tanned skin. very ellagent looking.

Tag Kentharu, I belive?

Merzan looked the woman up and down briefly and then bowed, though he didn't bow as low as her. "greetings" he said in a rough coarse voice that seemed to care a hint of annoyance yet calm. He stood 6 foot 5, with short cut black hair and rugged features, his eyes a dark blood red with a hint of orange fire behind them. Merzan came with only 2 guards, one his son Yusha and Krippa the Iron Heart. Yusha himself was but a boy, seemingly 8 or 9 yet he stood next to his father without shifting or looking down. Black hair with a tint of silver feel to his shoulders and sharp feautures, his skin a darker tan than most, except for his father. Krippa eyed the woman, though, with caution, as was his nature. Much like his appearance. A large scar went down his left cheek and onto his shoulder, which was complete solid iron. Both Yusha and Krippa wore royal armor, though Krippa's had minor dents in it and Yusha's had small burn marks across it. Merzan wore only simple Magi Robes.
"we also have a gift, or rather gifts, for you" Merzan stepped aside to reveal a giant iron scuplture with fires still burning inside it "this is Ash-Drona, Living Flame, as long as it burns in your courts the Gorin people will always be your allies and shall be bound to come to your aid"

ooc Merzan is grumpy but thats how he always acts, Yusha (who is half-demon) grows slower than most Magi so essentially he is the same age ans Krippa, Krippa dislikes everyone who isn't from Gorin, since he is the general of the entire Gorin military

tag then?

"ooh.. I like. It will look very nice standing just inside the Tower of imortality. I thank you for your gift Lord Merzan." With a slight nod toward the pair of Nurtures carrying the potted sapling, they brought it forward and placed it in front of Lady Morgan. she slowly ran hand gently along its bark and the tree seemed to shiver. "This, is a Yadrinal. a Tree of the wind. we haven't perfected it quite yet, and it will be many centuries yet till the final version is done. but for now, it will do. For you see, It possesses the Ability to receive and transmit Images between it's self and others of it's kind. It can only do this aproximantly once a month when the moon is full right now, but we hope we can change that in the future. but for now, It can still serve as a means of quick communication between our Capitols. Just plant it in a garden somewhere and place two large flat stones next to it. one on the north side, one on the south. you don't have to be precise. when you wish to send a message to me, just write it with a piece of chalk or coal on the north stone, and on the next full moon, the tree shall transmit it to it's twin in Avalon. when I send a message to you, it will appear on the southern stone for you to read."

tag.

Merzan glared at the tree before puting a smile on his face and bowing to Lady Morgan. The smile itself looked almost to alien on his face, which was normally always in a frown or something along those lines. He motioned for Krippa to pick it up, and he quickly lifted the plant and put it behind him
"it shall be treasured and kept under a protective shield so that it is not burnt" Merzan chuckled but quickly returned to his normal grumpy expression. "very well, now, as you may know, Gorin has gone into a period of isolation, you will be our only means of contact tot he outside world, except forthe great island of Dreadmire, this being said we wish to not only open our ports to you but open our land so that you may travel through it if you wish to as a means of travel to the other island (Europe) you must understand that this is a gift to show that the Gorin want nothing but peace between our people, normally i would not do this but under the circumstances we must"

ooc in other words, defensive alliance and all that jazz, mutual protection pact, right of passage, trade rights, horay for being nice right? tag

that would be very Beneficial to us, for our travels west have been, delayed for a bit due to a few discoveries. We will Gladly Accept it, and return it. and for the second gift, something we found on our Island, and felt you could use much better then we could, with your powers over Fire." Lady morgan motioned toward the pair of infantry. they quickly shuffled forward and placed a the chest down. they quickly unlocked it, then using a pair of poles they removed from the back of the chest, opened it from about 5ft away.

instantly, the ambient tempature jumped 5 degrees. for inside the chest was a Large black Pomice stone, with iregular chunks of glowing ruby spikes jutting our of it at random point.

"This, is what we dubbed a Fire stone. for obvious reasons. we found them near active volcanos scattered about our Islands interior. most are no larger then an Acorn, and usually fade a few hours after the eruption. this one has been glowing for about two hundred years. perhaps you can put it to more use then we could."

OOC: Yep. full defensive Alliance, RoP, and trade rights. enjoy the stone. oh, and the only magical thing about it is it stays very hot. tag

Nice diplo stories guys.

And Contempt, the economy bonus will set in next turn, as northern China becomes fully integrated into Mongol society. Already they are a different people than the southern Chinese.

We thank you for leaving that that which sleeps well enough alone, you have shown great wisdom and trust. However we fear that that which the old hyperborean empire at its height could barely contain has begun stirring - and others will not be as strong minded as you.
In the interests of cooperation, friendship, and trade, perhaps you could send a delegation to our naval base on Yhoundeh (Newfoundland) as your ships seem much more seaworthy than ours.
Also what can you tell us of the happenings of Valusia?

Additionally we would like to send an expedition to Valusia, would they be allowed to make port in your homeland and hire provisions and guides there?

To Elgovia

Greetings! We are planning to make an epic voyage of discovery across the bitter Avalonic sea to the strange lands our legends speak of in Valusia. Naturally as valued allies a number of Elgovian representives would be welcome on the expedition, especially if you expressed an interest in part financing the expedition. However in the interests of maintaining our magical location and communication systems we requesent that reprsentives refrain from using excessive magic and all quanties of Trafe be shipped overland rather than by portal.

OCC: Finacing in this case would be 1 econ point to build galleys/some galleys + troops (we can ship them via portal from Ka-Commoriom to Ea-Yhoundeh on the Avalonic)

Greetings! it is so nice to meet another peacfull culture. we hear you are inturested in trade, which is something we are inturested in also.
but unfortuantly, due to internal ecinomic limitations, we are unable to begin trade with you right now. but in a century or two, we might be willing to establish a trade route with you (trade route in 2 turns?)

We make no promises because who knows what the future holds? Bring this point up again when you are able to start trade immediately and we will consider it then.

OOC: Just to be clear, do we get the econ bonus from trade on the third turn or after the third turn. In other words, do I get the point to spend this turn from trade (the turn it goes 3/3) or do I have to wait a turn (until it goes back to 0/3)

We are glad to see progress being made on the Canal, and hope we can begin using it soon. We shall sign our planned trade agreement next turn (after I secure the Absynnia deal).

Also would you like to sign a defense treaty in case Absynnia betrays me.

Heinrich was Cackling, he did that a lot.

The Difference being was that he had just finished teaching apprentice Wizards on how to become Liches, the final phase on to becoming powerfull wielders of magic.

Unfortunally this class had all failed their pratical examinations, and their knowledge was weak. He doubted any of them would make it past this stage. It was, he reminded himself an experiment though. The outcome uncertain, theoretically, they should create some sort of anomoly, and Heinrich wanted to see what this would be, if they didn't pass through this phase into the Lcihe phase.

He heard screams. It was to be expected, eager students, if failures.

He followed the Screams. A gurgling sound followed. he found a student in his chamber. He had attempted the transformation but failed, his body was melting, a purple fire flowing down his body, his face a wax figurine, a soft goo.

Heinrich stuck his finger in his face and drew : :)

He laughed. Quite a pasty substance, but still the Purple fire suffused it, he called some attendents, they would store this substance, it undoubtably had some dark magical properties. It must be harnessed!

He looked down at the sigils the late Student had drawn. He had missed out the Undeath, the Sun and the Dark sigils's. Intresting combination.

Next A roaring noise shattered the building, candles fluttered out and the pots cracked. He left to investigate.

He found a Chamber completly destoyed, the door had black flames licking it, A Female lay on the ground her black robes burnt to ash over her body. Heinrich kicked the body. It disentrigated into a pile of Ash. heinrich quickly covered his mouth with his arm. Probably wasn't a good idea to breathe that stuff in. He backed out slowly, so as not to disturb the Ash, he glanced down at the Sigils drawn, no containment Sigil.

He went towards his lab, next thing he felt was a great power swiping at the space where his soul should have been, around him clerks, attendets dropped down dead, berif of their souls. Heinrich chuckled, THIS was the anomoly he was looking for, it must be. But what was happening to the souls? A silent explosion answered him, all that he could feel was an Icy blast suffuse his body, he warded it off. This was definitly the anomoly, that was its birth scream.

He wandered over to the epi-centre, and found in the Chamber, an Incorperal being, wearing what appears to have been the students old black robes and cloak.

Heinrich just smiled; it can hold things.
He opened his mouth to speak, "You my friend, have just entered the service of the King," the thing turned around and nodded, or so heinrich thought, he couldn't quite tell.

OOC: Err yeah!

We assure you, there are hundreds of our men willing to go on such a voyage! Our navy stands relatively unused (save for exploration) at the moment, so we have plenty of opportunity to participate in such a voyage. We are greatly thankful that you chose to invite us to this. Here are the forces we can spare, seeing as we have no great need for the nonce:
6 galleys
3 squadrons (60 men) either as an honor guard or as the main force
12 Chaosiers
All the above are already traveling north along the east coast by ship. They should arrive a few days after this message reaches you. On the ships are ten vials of Trafe in double-secured glass and packaging, one hundred footfeet of wood* for reinforcing of galleys, and eighty of our citiziens. Among them are scribes who will take notes, merchants offering goods, administrators who can organize supplies, archers and spearcasters who can hunt from a boat, and many others who will surely prove themselves useful.
[OOC: I'll provide galleys and manpower.]
All Trafe will be unloaded at your docks prior to the beginning of the voyage for you to consider security measures.
