Rules
I’m attempting to write the shortest set of rules ever. I hope you can bare with me. If there are any people new to NESing, please ask me questions directly.
Nation Name/State Head/Player
Easy. Remember that you can create puppy-states, rather than bluntly annex territory.
Government/Approval
Also easy. Popularity also effects stability and represents general attitudes of the populace (towards the government as well).
(Demonized/Cursed/Hated/Unpopular/Disliked/Average/Liked/Popular/Adored/Worshipped/Godlike)
Economic (Industrial) Capacity:
This stat replaces economics and industry. It is measured in EC points. You can think of it as equivalent of GDP. Unlike in previous NESes EC will be used in tech advances (i, e. you have to build technologies just like in Civilization you build wonders). EC can be banked, transformed, but cannot randomly “grow”. EC can be invested into national economy to increase it. This should give greater flexibility to players.
Army, Navy and Airforce
Same as before really. All three are made from EC with correlation to nations specifics (i.e. population, number of ports etc).
- Army is measured in divisions. Division is between 11,000 and 20,000 men/200-250 tanks (depending on a country)
- Navy is measured in individual ships. Navy sometimes takes 3 to 12 months to be built. Do plan in advance.
- Airforce is measured in Airforce Regiments (80-100 planes)
Every type of Division, Ship or Airforce Regiment is listed under “Military” post for the costs. Feel free to experiment with them. Training is not reflected.
Scientific Capacity
Ability of nations scientists to develop new technologies. Measured in word level and can be increased by good research proposals. Scientific Capacity also helps your nation implement projects. Dependant (Colonised) Nations do not have this parameter.
(Idiotic/Dumb/Poor/Average/Bright/Well Educated/Academic)
Projects and Advances
Work in the same way as in other NESes and cost EC. Projects can be started anywhere, Advances only in colonial states (metropolis).
Turns, Updates, Orders and Players
Turns – each turn is one season (i.e. 3 months).
Updates – once a week on the weekend.
Orders – due by Friday of every week. Please do them short but detailed or do highlight important points for me not to get confused
Players – I am aiming for 8-10 players. This time round I will be giving nations to specific players as I feel. I will appoint most capable players to important nations that need to be PCs in game. Upon joining please list 3 nations in order of preference that you would like to play.
Gameplay Tips and Guidelines
(How I want to see this game progress
)
Don’t rush into war straight away. Diplomacy can serve its purpose before the guns speak. Feel free to experiment with divisions, create and name armies, corps and special divisions. Acquire and rule protectorates rather than bluntly conquer territories (i.e Manchuria).
Technology and Divisions (Recommended to read)
Each new technological advance allows you to modify your army. For example discovering Pzk IV tank for the Germans means that the turn after that Germans can form Pzk IV tank divisions. Given certain backgrounds common divisions can be modified (i.e. Infantry into Guards division, Infantry to SS, etc). Feel free to experiment and form new types of divisions. Sometimes a division can be strengthened with a new weapon for example German Infantry Divisions (Mp44 gun) or Motorized (Katusha) Division.
Introduction
This NES is for World War 2. It will start sooner or later depending on your actions. The NES starts in Summer 1939, Czechoslovakia is occupied and Hitler has his eyes on Poland. Can you take your nation through this period to victory or at least survival?
OOC: Do not post until I say you can or the eagles take you far away to a place, where you can just watch the game...
