patch 109 now out

A couple of things I've run into since the patch and I'm wondering if anybody else has. Overall, the patch has been a Godsend for me as far as playability is concerned, but every once in a great while a goofy situation now arises.

1 - If ol' Leonard is yakking on and on about the latest tech advancement at the same time a wonder movie tries to start, everything freaks out. Sound starts stuttering, the movie just winks in and out, framerate drops like a rock, and basically I just have to kill the game process and restart the game.

2 - I cannot play at any resolution that is not a 1.3 ratio resolution. I get black terrain and a blinking screen.

Hey.. I got it working.. Use the driver I mentioned.. Then.. From advanced / volume turn off the master volume.. To me.. It was sound that crashed the computer.. Else the game works perfect.. If you want to make it a little faster, try the "still leaderhead mod":

This makes the game completely playable..

Oh Sutejo.. One more thing.. Load the ati tray.. It loads it to the right corner..
Left click it.. Choose tweaks -- Advanced tweaks -- System tweaks.. Find disable overlay.. Click it so that there is a black x on a white bottom.. Do the same for "disable overlay theater mode"..

I installed patch 1.09 and now Civ IV won't even start. Just freakin lovely!

I'm not downloading this Patch.

After reading this thread, I've decided to leave well enough alone. I'm certainly experiencing "laggy" play, choppy video's and long load times, but it works.

It certainly appears that the downside of the patch is far riskier than any percieved benefits.

One man's opinion. I'll be waiting for the next patch.

Just wanted to share my experience with the patch.

I'm running on a substandard video card and marginally ok specs otherwise (Compaq presario laptop, Radeon 320M, 512Ram, 1.8ghz processor).

Patch did help some I think. Good thing, since it took me almost 2 hr to download!

I now see both coins and hammers, not just bread on the resource overlay.

I have actual leaderheads now!

Play seems a little faster than before.

However,

I still have black terrain (fixable by 'reveal all terrain' tricks), and intro movies still stutter. In battles against wolves/lions, the animal units didn't move at all (is this normal?)

game completely crashed about 30min in- same problem i was having before. The fan was working pretty hard, so I'm guessing this was a thermal shut-off issue, although I just gave up and didn't start up my computer again to see if I could find a crash log of some kind.

But it still having the movie problem and also I still cannot see the resources.

Happy, happy, joy, joy!
My movies don't stutter anomore, and the game doesn't crash, and runs better than before!
I can finally enjoy the 45 I spent!

oh. i'm sorry...

what i did: completely uninstalled(backup saved games, offcourse...), reinstalled the game, updated with patch, did the PakBuild thingy,and started the game.
The only thing is the intro movie that stutters, but i skip it most of the time.

patch 109 now out
