Images as signatures?

Quite a lot of forums allow members to have a banner style image as their signature.

After the influx of new members that slowed the site down.. now that is over, can we not have imaged signatures please?

For example this is my signature on another forum:

That would be horrendously annoying. It sticks out WAY more than your actually post. Signatures are great the way they are. I don't want large anime and cartoon signatures appearing. :cringe:

I have to agree. The lack of insane image-sigs, and annoying really large animated avatars is one of the main things that brought me to this forum!
 
If we could put a size limit on the img then I would be all for having small ones in the sig. Not giant banners.
 
Having img's/banners allowed in sigs would significantly slow the site down and make you have to scroll more. At some forums that i go to, the images that are allowed are way too big in size and hence scrolling becomes soon pretty common and annoying through every single post. I don't want that to happen in CFC.
 
We don't have images in sigs, as I understand they can have HTML could that could be malicious. At least, that's the reason I remember hearing.

The way it is now is nice... Using the URL is just as good. That way you can choose to view them.
 
Aren't avatars enough?

They are nice and off to the side, where banner and picture sigs easily get in the way.
 
I've been to a few forums that allow sig images, and I hate it. Most of them are bigger than the posts. It's annoying and distracting to have to sort through the images to try to find the actual post.

I do have an image in my sig at one forum, but it's advertising my mod, like most of the other sigs, and it's relatively small and unobtrusive.
 
At Simptropolis you can have an image in the size of 300x50 which really is not annoying at all.

But the main use of them is to advertise their city stories, and we really have nothing similar here.

Not supporting this or am I against it, just throwing out examples. :)
 
damn, now i remeber why this bothered me ages and ages ago... i wanted to put the crowned smiley in my sig the other way around on one of them (so symetrical) but there was no way i could :(
