LINESII- Into the Darkness

Update 2: Years 220-292: Dawn of War

The Moguls and Gerber continue what is being called 'The Fake War'. While the Moguls have expanded northwards to meet the southern end of Gerber, there has been no fighting. Both sides bunkered down on their respective borders, but neither side was to risk starting a fight.

In Gerber, the religion of Oratheism, a belief in 5 gods, representing life, death, earth, air, fire, and the afterlife. It has gained some support in Gerber, but hasn't spread out of it yet.

In Khemri, a polytheistic religion has appeared in Alexandria and swept the country by storm. It has also spread, through trade, to Gerber and Aney Tigot. Also, to facilitate greater trade, the city of Said has been founded high in the Crystal ridge mountains. But as the Khemri become more city based, their nomadic economy begins to die.

Also, King Alexander Khemr has commissioned the Royal Guards, an elite force of Khemri spearmen armed with mighty green obsidian spears. Coupled with the development of bows, Khemri's military might has become quite formidable.

The nomads of Nurmafer, much to Khemri's surprise, did not attack. They didn't even expand eastward. They traveled in full force westward, conquering two primitive city-states further upriver.
(-1000 Nurmafer Warriors, +20 000 Population)

The Aneyans of Tigot have begun to build a massive building in their great city. It is called the School of Great thought, and is expected to become an important center of learning at the time of its completion.
(Note to erez: I won't change fundamental cost rules of the game, like making education way cheaper to maintain. But it will give you an education level boost. A note to everyone: I've decided to make money paid for maintaining education a dependent variable of your population and education level. The first few education levels cost 1 point to maintain for 100 000 students, 2 points to maintain for 200 000, and so on. Later ones will cost 2 for 100 000 and 4 for 200 000, and so on. The higher the level, the more expensive its maintenance. If you don't get it, ask on thread so I can explain it to everyone more thoroughly)

The sailors of Kehexou have made a great discovery. The earlier reports of land to the south have proven to be true. The lands are heavily forested and rich with animal life. Braving the vicious storms that often strike the surrounding seas, several Kehexou ships with settlers landed on the new land and founded colonies.

The Kalmar people continue to expand, small-scale trade with the nations to the north continuing. The Great Port of Copenholm is now almost halfway to completion.

Eldrania's crusade against the Dula-Hathran has now truly begun. The zealous troops crashed headon into the still-preparing forces of Dula-Hathran. Utterly convinced that their enemies were soulless demons, the Eldranians slaughtered every man, woman, child, and infant they saw. Dula-Hathran was forced into a retreat, but they finally got their act together at the Duality pass. And the defenders had developed a deadly new way of fighting. Doing battle off the back of a mighty beast! Bringing up their newly trained Auroch Riders, the Dula-Hathran launched charge after charge against the Eldranians. While the shock tactics worked well, they were unable to push the Eldranians out of the pass.

It was now that fate chose to side with the beleagured Dula-Hathran. A group of barbarians to Eldrania's south, alarmed by what they perceived as violence beyond words, united and attacked the Eldranians. Now under attack on two fronts, the Eldranians had to pull some forces out of the Duality Pass to combat the barbarians besieging the city of Eldraxos.

While the Eldranians finished off the attacking 'demons', the Dula-Hathran were given some breathing room. While they still have failed to push the Eldranians out of the Duality pass and the Hathran lands beyond, they have created a stable defensive line. But with the barbarians scattered, the Eldranians can now focus exclusively on destroying the 'demons' of Dula-Hathran.

With all of the fighting and tests of faith facing the Eldranians, their religion has gained even more strength. And with the desperation of the Dula-Hathran, everyone is doing everything they can to stop the fanatical invaders, including paying for the army personally.

The Gargari have convinced many smaller tribes to join them for protection against the Eldranian crusade. They then sent military aid to Dula-Hathran, although they had already repelled the first Eldranian assault.

Gar Kersoy is beginning to develop into a flourishing city.

Gargari explorers have contacted every nation on the Kalmar river. They have struck up an unlikely friendship with the Aneyans, who are their opposites in virtually every way. Many Gargari have offered their services as mercenaries to the people of Tigot.

The society of Gorin has calmed down a great deal. They are beginning to settle down, and have founded several cities. Crystalism is beginning to spread through their lands.

The people of Yath al'Shanaal have also began to set up permanent residences. They have founded their capital on the River Wardash, just downhill from the great crystal caves. Their religion of Crystalism is finding further support in nearby nations.

The Qua'laen Jal are beginning to experience problems with the barbarian tribes to the north. OOC: Maybe they should send orders.

More darkskinned people migrating down from the north have made their homes in the nation of Nkondi. This has caused significant population swelling.
(+15 000 population)

The Republic of Veritas, after converting all of the barbarians between them and Zibon to the Church of the One, convinced them to join their great nation. The barbarians gladly accepted. Meanwhile, to the north, the Zibonese were taking over barbarian lands in a much less diplomatic fashion. With protests from the people who had just joined Veritas, the Assemblum Popularum declared war on Zibon. The war got off to a quick start. An army of thousands of Veritasians, bearing the Purple and Gold standard of their nation, marched into Zibonese land, demanding their surrender.

The Zibonese were not going to go down to just that. They mustered their forces and raced them back southwards, and set up a defensive line outside of their city of Zarz. Their advantage of archers was nullified by Veritasian possession of skirmishers, light spearmen who could throw their weapons. An overoptimistic Veritasian officer sent back word that the city would soon fall. But it didn't. The city was better defended than had been expected, and the Zibonese held on.

Meanwhile, the Veritasian navy moved along the southern coast of Zibon, planning to land troops just outside of the capital. They didn't expect to see a Zibonese navy to combat them. The two forces were equal on paper, and the first ever sea battle was fought. Eventually, the less experienced Zibonese sailors were defeated, but with heavy losses on both sides. The bedraggled rememants of the Veritasian southern force landed, hoping to join up with the Host of the One (which was still fighting at Zarz). They found no allies to join with, and were captured by a nearby Zibonese garrison.

Shortly after this, another Veritasian force attacked out of Veritas' northern colony. It was easily the most successful of the armies. It wiped out a small Zibonese force sent to take out the colony, then swept southward to aid the Host of the One. The city of Zarz was now cut off from supplies. After a long siege, the city, and the majority of the army there, fell. From then on, the Zibonese started launching guerilla raids against the badly hurt Veritasian army. With much of its fleet destroyed, Veritas is having a hard time supplying its army. So the war has slowed down to a crawl, with the Veritasians holding their ground and the better-supplied but less numerous Zibonese launching sporadic attacks.

The captured citizens of Zarz have been forced to convert to the Church of the One. Most have done this, fearing whatever consequences their occupiers may think of if they don't.
(+15 000 Veritasion population, -500 Veritasian Skirmishers, -1000 Veritasian Spearmen, -8 Veritasian Ships, -10 Zibonese Ships, -1000 Zibonese Spearmen, -500 Zibonese Archers, -10 000 Zibonese Population)

All religious centers give +1 confidence to their nations this turn.

Notes: Please tell me what you want your cities to be named!
And stats will be done later.

Khemri is right. Lets end this here, before someone gets hurt.

Oh come on Iggy, everything went right for Kal'thazar's evil empire in LINES, but now I get stupid barbarians? Oh well... ;)

And Veritas and Eldrania are definitely related. They just make excuses for their wars...

EDIT: I also have a religous center. And so does Veritas.

Look jalapeno, when you're as violently xenophobic as you, anyone you meet will try to fight you.

I was joking.... I realize that I'm basically fighting the world at this point. At least I'm making things interesting...

Anyone want to take bets on how long before I'm brought down? :)
