Update 5: Years 450-592: War at Sea
The Flame of Emor lives on! Lord Emrus, who has lost not one bit of his presence and strength over his many years, has led 6000 of his people away to found their nation once again and spread the will of the Church of the One.
Using 3 warships (The
Triumphant, Intrepid, and
Adamant) loaned from Veritas and what was practically an armada of smaller fishing and trading boats, the free Emorans set out to the southwest to settle the newly-discovered islands south of Kehexou.
The plan was made, but fate intervened. After over a week of sailing, a storm began to form. Many of the people demanded to go back, but Emrus' will was stronger than steel (pardon the anachronism). He refused to even consider turning back.
The storm grew greater, and many smaller ships were tossed and sunken. Those who could swim managed to scramble onto other ships, crowding them to the point that the wooden floor was invisible under the mass of humanity.
The storm continued to worsen, and a mighty wave snapped and capsized the
Intrepid, drowning almost all those onboard.
Still, Emrus remained firm in his thinking. The storm began to lift, but a new problem appeared. They were helplessly off course, and the stars were impossible to see behind the mass of clouds. The Emorans had little choice but to let the storm bring them where it would.
For many days, the storm continued to blow the Emoran fleet in unknown directions. But they grappled their ships together, and held strong.
After what had felt like an eternity of tossing waves and pounding rains, hope came into sight. A small rocky island came into sight. Before they could even shout what they had seen, a massive wall of rock came into sight. Emrus, on the
Adamant, managed to turn around the ship and save it, but the
Triumphant was shattered. Its passengers held onto the wreakage and nearby rocks for dear life, then discovered with joy that the water was barely a meter deep. The people celebrated like they had never before, and Emrus beached the
Adamant onto a rocky beach.
Not wasting any time, the Emorans explored their new surroundings. While the area they had landed on was rocky and forbidding, on the far side of the cliff was a sheltered, forested bay.
Lord Emrus walked to the far end of the bay, leading the surviving Emorans. Stopping suddenly, he shouted "Emor begins anew!" and passed away. His tremendous willpower had kept him alive through the brutal trials of the voyage, and his mission was finally finished.
The Emorans quickly built their new capital (mostly out of wrecked ships), and declared Emrus' son, Aramus, to be Lord of Emor. The great task of surviving and thriving now lies ahead of them.

Shortly after seeing off the Emorans, Veritas attention shifted to the Kalmar people to the north. The ruling House of Odin ruled weakly for too long, the people were open to religous conversion, and they were under the deadly threat of Eldrania.
While the people may have been open to accepting Veritasan control in exchange for security, the current leader of the Kalmar Union, Odin XXIV, would not. He may have had none of the greatness of his ancestors, but he had all of the stubbornness.
Knowing that the Kalmar fleet was far larger than that of Veritas, the Veritasians built up a great navy, to help bring the odds into their favour.
The moment the fleet and its accompanying forces were completed, it set sail northwards. The Kalmar navy was quick to meet them. The two forces instantly exploded into combat. The furious Kalmar warriors leapt deftly onto Veritasan ships, hacking away at everyone they could get their hands on, using their well-developed skills on the sea to great advantage.
At first, the Veritasans were caught by surprise. They had expected the Kalmar navy to be poorly trained, as it had never seen combat. But they were still extremely skilled sailors, which easily made up for that.
As the Kalmar forces began to gain the upper hand, Veritas unleashed its secret weapon. Archers in the rigging of Veritasan ships lit their arrows on fire, and unleashed them on the Kalmar. In seconds, Kalmar ships began to burst into flames. But due to the current weather, which was damp and windy (interestingly enough, the same storm system that was wreaking havoc on the Emorans at the same time) the flaming arrows had little effect on the Kalmar except striking fear and surprise into their hearts.
Then, the Veritasans' second new weapon came into play. Some of their newest ships had been outfitted with rams, and they were now being used against the Kalmar. But as they had never been tested before, the rams had a few flaws. The majour problem was that they had a tendency to get stuck in the ships they rammed, sometimes snapping off and sometimes holding up a sinking Kalmar ship until the weight of the waterlogged ship started to pull down the Veritasans or snapped off the ram. Plus, when the ships were attached by the ram, the Kalmar were able to cross over to the Veritasan ships and wreak havoc on them.
The Kalmar and Veritasans both lost great numbers of ships, but the Kalmar had the double edged advantage that they couldn't retreat, as retreat would allow the Veritasans to land.
As the number of ships steadily decreased, the Veritasan Oceanus (admiral) had to make a decision. Retreat, drop off the forces, and let the land force defeat the Kalmar, or fight for a possible victory, or a deadly loss.
He chose the cautious path, and disengaged the Kalmar fleet. The Kalmar admiral, suspecting a trap, did not pursue. Thus did the Battle of the Kalmar, the largest naval engagement ever up to this time, gulf end without a clear victor.

While at sea, things were even, there was no challenge to Veritasan superiority on land. The Host of Tellus, as the nearly 3000 man army was called, overcame all Kalmar resistance and soon besieged Copenholm itself. Odin XXIV put up a strong fight, but was defeated. The rest of the nation collapsed quickly, as the military was utterly defeated.
The Kalmar people converted to the Church of the One quite willingly for the most part. It seems that this campaign is finished. But Veritasan Stratikrators have noticed a few worrying details. A significant part of the army, and all of the navy, were not accounted for when the Kalmar Union was occupied.

Brahmanism continues its spread amongst barbarians, but is blocked off by Khemri polytheism to the west, the, Church of the One to the south, and Oratheism in the north.
Many observers would insist that Kehexou would fall into a civil war, but the peaceful nature of these people was not noted. By decree from King Anaya of Kehexou, the mainland would become a seperate country from Kehexou, named Tekrehexou, with its capital at Tregnau. The two nations have agreed to maintain a permanent alliance, but are now governed totally seperately.
Khemri is building up a great military, who it'll be used against of if it's just for defense no one yet knows. Copper has become widely used, and Khemri has entered the copper age.
The people of Nurmafer are becoming increasingly city-based, and as a result their formerly nomadic ways are slipping away. But this has been made up for with increasing trade with Khemri.

Expeditions to the west have travelled around the far side of the Crystal ridge mountains, to make a great discovery. A great sea has been discovered to the west! What this may mean to the Nurmaferis remains to be seen.
The Yath'al Shanaal have had their capital returned to them by Gorin, and peace once again reigns through the region. Though their encroachment on the Khemri/Gerber trade route worried the other nations at first, it was merely to make it easier for Yath'al Shanaal goods to be traded at the other nations.
Roads have been built around the country to facilitate easier travel and pilgramage. With this, Crystalism has experienced an upsurge of popularity. The city of Ruby has become a majour center of pilgrimage.

Crystalism continues to grow in popularity in Gorin, and Neocrystalism in Qua'laen Jal.
The New Zibonese nation begins to falter, as poor leadership leaves them with a lack of direction.
The Nkondi experience something of a resurgence. Their army is expanded, and campaigns against the barbarian tribes to the south begin. While some of the darkskinned tribes (the ones to Nkondi's southwest) have willingly joined them, those of lighter appearance (the ones to the south) have fought viciously. The Nkondi expansion is going well, although casualties are starting to add up.

The Gerber continue to promote Oratheism. But like Brahmanism, it is not being well-received in other lands, as they already have firmly set systems of belief. But the religion has gained a following in their barbarian neighbours to the north.
Gerbers discover copper working independently of other nations, although it has yet to become widespread.
It has been discovered that the Aneyans had owned the lands between Tigot and the Keran range for several centuries, but it had simply never been recorded because the settlements were almost non-existant.
Also, a gift from Veritas, a huge chest filled with copper, has helped to propel this nation into the Copper age.
(Aney-Tigot enters Copper Age)
Despite these recent good fortunes, the Aneyans soon afterwards fell into bad times. See below.
Eldrania was at this time experiencing the most successful times of its history. The Dula-Hathran were utterly defeated, crushed beyond all imaginable hope of recovery. The Gargari army was routed earlier, and had now retreated to the north. And the people were rich from the plunder.
But their desire to crush all of the demons of the world was not quenched. In fact, many who observed them and lived would declare it to be 'unquenchable'.
So the Eldranian armies massed. And they marched out of the duality pass to once again wreak havoc upon the nations of the Kalmar River.
This time, their target was Tigot. (Ooh, nice alliteration. Sorry, back to the war

)
In almost no time, they stormed into the lands recently discovered to be Aneyan, and killed the few people they found there. In very little time, they had occupied all Aneyan lands on the eastern bank of the Kalmar river.
The challenge was given. The huge, but untested, armies of Tigot massed. Shields were shined, speartips sharpened, and suntan lotion applied.
Heheh, sorry for the anachronistic alliteration there. I couldn't resist. They just put on large hats actually. And the shields aren't metal, so they weren't shined.
Anyway,

back to the war.
The Eldranians began to storm across the river, but the Aneyan archers slaughtered them. Soon, the Eldranian general decided not to waste any other forces in a full-out assault on Tigot. So leaving part of his force across the river from Tigot, he led the rest of his army around the city, stealing all the food he could from the surrounding lands, and burning all he couldn't use.
This was too much for the Tigotians. They sent out a large force of their forces to attack the Eldranians defiling their lands. The Elranians prepared for the battle eagerly.
The Aneyans are not noted for their physical strength, but their extreme height and limb length allows them to get great leverage on their weapons, making their archery something of enemies nightmares.
The two forces were of roughly equal size to start off with. The Eldranians struck first, charging at the Aneyan spear formations. The Eldranians were driven off again and again with significant casualties, unable to get close enough to the giant men to harm them. Soon, the decision was made to throw spears. This inflicted far greater damage on the Aneyans, as they had little armour. All the way through this, the Aneyan archers were sending deadly streams of arrows into the Eldranian ranks. The casualties were almost dead even.
As the two forces whittled each other down, a new group of Eldranians appeared. Both sides believed them to be reinforcements. But they weren't. They were messengers.
Racing to the Eldranian general, they informed him that a large Gargari force was racing southwards, and that they would soon reach the nearly undefended Duality Pass.
Cursing his luck, the Eldranian general subtly manoeuvered his forces around the Aneyans, then left. The Aneyans didn't pursue.
The Eldranians managed to get back across the Kalmar river to confront the Gargari. The Gargari attacked en masse at first sight, but were driven off by the Eldranians, with high casualties to both sides.
Turning back to the Kalmar river, the Eldranian general was infuriated to see the Aneyans already building fortifications on their side of the River. With his force too weakened to attempt another assault, he fortified his army to consolidate Eldrania's considerable gains. It is likely that his preparation is going to be necessary. For the Aneyans are recovering, and have developed nothing short of absolute hatred for the Eldranians.

Notes: Sorry for the puns, alliterations, and anachronisms. I couldn't resist. Say, and this is also the longest update I've ever done.
And this update, which I think is my best ever, is dedicated to my grandma. I love you grandma. You'll be in a less painful place now.
