Update 7- Years 679-753: Trumpets of Conquest

The Kehex war rages on. Khemri has rebuilt its damaged navy and trained new forces. They were once again ready to take on, and hopefully take down Kehexou.

First, a small force was dispatched to Kehexou, and it drew out another small Kehex force. Then the rest of Khemri’s navy arrived, destroying or capturing several Kehex ships. In response, the entirety of Kehexou’s navy rose to the challenge. The pieces were in place for the 2nd Battle of Tellex Point. No one involved did not believe that this confrontation would decide the war.

So another chaotic naval battle broke out between Kehexou and Khemri. Kehexou had numerical superiority, but their advantage of naval skills was less this time, for many of their best sailors had perished at the first battle of Tellex point, and Khemri had gained much experience during the war. Khemri’s other advantage was their more powerful, metal weaponry.

Once again, both fleets whittled themselves down, at massive human cost. After about three quarters of his fleet had been destroyed, the Kehex Admiral Gayanax made a desperate choice. His remaining fleet was outnumbered, and he couldn’t afford to have any more of his ships commandeered by Khemri. So he fled, leaving Kehexou virtually void of naval protection.

So Khemri’s mighty army landed on Kehexou. They encountered vast wilderness, and had to search the undeveloped lands for quite a while before they could find the city of Soloxau. They attacked on first sight, and after a quick, brutal battle they conquered the city. They then sent off a force to conquer Takrao in the south and waited for supplies and more orders. And waited. But no contact came from Khemri.

For the remaining Kehex fleet had regrouped, and Admiral Gayanax had picked off the Khemri fleet when it was unsuspecting, traveling in smaller groups and carrying large groups of soldiers. So Khemri had the central island of Kehexou occupied, but were themselves besieged by the Kehex fleet. Things looked like they were going to get bloodier. But much to both nations’ surprise, they didn’t.

For Admiral Gayanax approached Khemri with a peace offer. The Kehexou people would surrender to Khemri, in return for fair treatment at the hands of Khemri and the right to practice their religion freely. Both sides seem glad at what looks like to be an end to the violent Kehex war.

The central city of Eldraxos, nestled in the Duality pass, has become a majour center of commerce and trade for Eldrania.
(+Eldraxos Economic Center)

The recovering Eldranian army managed to play for time for years by constantly maneuvering their forces, building deceptive camps, and generally keeping their enemies befuddled. Until, of course, their forces were once again ready for battle. The Legions of Eldrania quickly resumed their advances into Gargari lands. The Gargari, despite fighting with great desperation and ferocity, were hopelessly outnumbered. Gar Kersey fell quickly, and was utterly razed, even more so than Gar Korays.

From that point on, thinks continually got worse for the Gargari. Their last general had fallen at the battle for Gar Kersey, and now there was no leader for the nation. They thought they might have had reprieve when the Eldranians halted their advance and forded the River Wardash to attack Aney-Tigot. But the reprieve was very brief. For the Eldranian force split in half, and one of the forces began rampaging over the remaining Gargari lands. The Gargari nation is now at the brink of collapse- although most would say that it has already collapsed, and is just in the process of falling.

Meanwhile, the Eldranians have established a beachhead in Aneyan lands, but have yet to expand it, due to the heroic actions of Aneyan soldiers)

Some interesting spoils of the war for Eldrania have been copper weapons taken from dead Aneyans. It is not doubted that this material is stronger and better than stone in every way, but the theological arguments over whether it is right to use the tools of the demons have prevented further investigations.

The barbarian tribes between Eldrania, Veritas, Mogulia, Gerberia, and Aney-Tigot have chosen to unite into one nation, Tristaria, with their capital as the new city of Trinitra. As they have a considerable Dula minority, one of this young nation’s first declarations was eternal war against Eldrania. This nation follows several religions, primarily Oratheism and The Church of the One.

Nurmafer continues to expand along the western coastline, exploring as it goes.

Emor also continues to grow and explore. Their ships have discovered some of the southern islands of Kehexou, and the Emorans finally have a sense of where they are again.

Crystalism’s popularity continues to rise among the Wardash Pact nations, and abroad.

Gorin is beginning to explore further up the River Wardash.

Nkondi remains as quiet as it always is, although the barbarians encroaching from the north are somewhat worrying. They have completed their conquest of the barbarians to their south, and now have a border with the River Wardash.

Veritas is beginning to burst at the seams, so great is its overpopulation problem. With some overworked farmlands beginning to fail, people are moving to the swelling cities to make a living.
(-1 Rural Economy)

The Veritasans have still not yet confronted the Eldranians, but they have built major fortifications on their northern frontier.

The Gerbers have historically been a quiet, out of the way people. The Cecilian dynasty has ruled them with a steady hand since the formation of the nation over half a millennium ago.

They have quietly risen to become a significant power, growing rich through trade with Khemri. Their religion, Oratheism, binds the people tightly together. And the influx of money from pilgrims and traders has allowed recent Kings of Gerberia to maintain a large military. Although the growing concentrations of population in the cities is harming the rural economy.
(-1 Rural/Nomad Economy)

This is not only a large military, but an advanced one. Blacksmiths all over Gerberia are being funded by the government to develop stronger and stronger metals. King Cecil the twentieth even went so far as to build one massive forge in Cirta, with the purpose of combining two metals into one.

While there have been a few successes, a reliable and practical method of mixing metals has yet to be discovered. But the blacksmiths preach patience to their increasingly impatient superiors, insisting that they just need more time.

As metalworkers back home struggled to improve the technology of Gerberia, the military was finally given a chance to test itself.

Early in the year 752, Gerber forces flooded over the southern border and into the realm of their age-old rivals, the Moguls. Simply travelling around the ancient fortifications, the Gerbers quickly captured the northern Mogul forts. Within a few weeks, the northernmost Mogul city, Gerrabad, was besieged.

It was around then that the Moguls finally got their act together. They mobilized their army, and even began emergency conscription. They rapidly got a large force into Gerrabad, and fortified against the Gerber.

Things were looking grim for the Moguls. The Gerbers had numbers, technology, and surprise on their side. All the Moguls had going for them was desperation, the support of the people, and the use of defenses.

The Gerbers, annoyed with the fortifications of Gerrabad, chose to besiege it and advance further south into Mogul lands. But the surrounded city remained a constant liability, so the Gerber devised a plan to take the city. They built several giant, covered battering rams, and set them to the city’s gates. With the support of the massive Gerber army, the Moguls could do nothing but wait as their gates were gradually destroyed.

After days of ramming, the gates were finally broken, and Gerber forces poured into the city to do battle with the entrenched Moguls. It was a long, hard battle, and the Moguls fought for every house. But the Gerber numbers won out in the end, and the Moguls were annihilated. The Gerber army then proceeded to destroy every Brahmanic temple in the city, and built Oratheistic temples from their rubble.

Then, leaving a considerable force in the occupied city, the Gerbers began launching raids against the remaining Mogul lands. Under constant Gerber pressure, the Mogul Empire seems to be on the verge of collapse. Nothing short of a miracle or majour foreign intervention is likely to save them now.

I HATE YOU IGGY!

...

No, really. I hate you! :p

To Kehoxu
From Khemri

We are a tolerant people, and added to your relative isolation, religious tolerance can be agreed to, we are not the same as the Veritas fanatics.

Edit: Iggy i suppose the moguls are NPC now, if so have they accepted my defensive offer or not? If not I may just offer it to the Gerbers (after all I am just looking for a friendly buffer between myself and veritas :p

I resent that! ;)

Sorry I couldn't send orders Iggy, I'll write some stories instead.

Explain? There is nothing to explain :p

True... So true...

SS, are you just angry because I only had a sentence to say about you? It was 3 AM, forgive me.

Oh wait, Duh, it's because I beat you in the updating race. :p

I'm doing stats now.

@Kentharu- Write a story, or explain why you should have an economic center in your orders. Dathan is likely to be a trade center, because it is at the center of the Wardash Pact nations. Just explain something like that to me, and you'll get an eco. center.

Great update!

*goes to come up with religous justification for using copper weapons*

We will fight fire with fire to fulfill the wishes of Eldan, even if it is the fire of demons!

How's that?

Actually, I was thinking more like:

-The demons are warped reflections of the majestic creations of Eldos.
-Therefore, their weapons are impure versions of the weapons Eldos wants us to use.
-So we can use these weapons if they are properly "purified". (Preferably with blood ;))

With the Unity of the major Khemrian nations, and their subsequent ironing out of docternal differences (slight though they might be). The Khemrian faith underwent internal study by the Priests and different factions arose.

Two opposed factions arose from the Kings Acception of the Kehexou surrender terms. For the Priests this led to a rather unique position, co-existing with another religion, and whilst Oundainty was not completly different from Khemrian Religious theology, The symbols were different.

This ultimitly led to the creation of the AtOuns, those that insisted that the Oundainty religious thoughts should be completly exluded from Khemrian Theology, and those of the BiOuns, those who wished to study as legitimate, declaring that Khemri's Victory over the Kehoxu simply meant that the Oundainties supernatural beings were absorbed the the Khemrian Pantheon.

These Two Factions were completly opposed by the followers of the Philosophers Erezia and Kalape, whose combined writing pointed towards a more over-reaching vision. There was only one God, and that the Prophet Sathya though divinly inspired, his followers were merely human and misinterpeted his message. The went further and interpeted all other religions as simply a misinterpetation of Prophets Sathya's teachings. In effect this meant that this faction viewed the AtOuns and BiOuns arguments as irrelevant, this however did not stop them muddling the waters in attempts to gain supremecy amoung the factions.

The last faction were rather minor, in that for the most parts they were zealots, pushing to spread the faith, however the faction itself had lost out due to the Priesthood looking inward rahter than outward.

However these factions simply could not settle their differences, indeed the AtOuns and BiOuns actually attacked each other. This lead to the King forcing order and marching in his Royal Pikeman, loyal to him and him alone. His captian of the Guard read this Statement "On the Next Full moon, with Nikkals blessing the factions of the Priesthood will settle their divions under the auspices of the divinly inspired King Alexander,"

Thus was the stage set for the Conference of Alexander, in which the AtOun and BiOuns had lost out due to being the cause of the Civil disturbance, whilst the Montheists had recently sought an allaince with the Zealots with promises that the, the misinterpitations of the Great Prophet Sathya must be rectified and yes spread to other nations. Mollified to an extent the zealots were brough under the Montheists wing.

This lead to a show-down, of the Monotheists and the Polytheists, as the AtOuns and the BiOuns were thrown together by this alliance. This whole thing put the Conference strongly in the Monotheists favour, the Polytheists were unoraganised and unliked by the King. Furtermore, their arguments, razor-sharp when debating with each other, were untried and rather simple in comparison with the Monotheists ones, who were backed up with hundreds of years of philosophical writing. This lead to a debate were most of the moderates of the Polytheists were swept to the Monotheists side, the resulting hard-liners position were totally unsuitable for any co-operation as they broke-down into internal squabaling.

This lead to a further Conference of Alexander, where the Monotheistic writings were codified, although additional writings were still allowed under supervision of the Religious Council, the Leaders of the Khemrian Faith.

However this might have left the Kingdom in Civil war, fortunatly the Monotheists allaince with the zealots off-set this along with the Kings Endorsements of the direction of the faith. The Fiery words of the Zealots spread like wild-fire, and then...They Crossed the Mountains.

OOC: Religious ASSUALT!
