SCENARIO: Age of Imperialism; 1895-1924, Deluxe Version 2016-10-05

i've been waiting for months too.

So has everyone else that's interested in this scenario

in which i regularly work north of 80 hrs a week = basically no civ time = virtually lost interest in scenario,

Well if your working 80 hours/week good for you, if you've "lost interest" then why the heck are you complaining about the length of time it's taking to "beta test" it?

in the future, maybe a more timely release with ::gasp:: less "extensive testing"

Less time in "beta test" =more bugs=LOTS more lost time for everyone, but most esp. the Author, I personally would like to see a end product as free from bugs, glitchs and gremlins as possable.

woh guys - easy does it now...

first off - thank you all for the interest in the scenario. it's nice to know that others look forward to the next version and appreciate all the hard work that is put into making a scenario. it is an amazingly greuling & time consuming process - at least for me.

however, note that i made a promise to some guys that i'd wait until Storm Over Europe (SOE) was released until releasing this. the main reason is that they were kind enough to allow me to include lots of their nice unreleased unit gfx. so considering that - i made a promise and i intend to keep it.

on the matter of the next version and its 'playability':
put it this way - there won't be another version - ie - all bugs have been worked out already. it's certainly 'spit polished' at this point so there'll be no need to 'patch' it (save for future unit gfx).

regarding the status of the 'beta testing':
i wouldn't even call it 'beta' testing. it's more like 'omega' testing in that we're so far advanced into testing it that it's as clean as it'll get i think. i will even go as far to say that once you play it, that you'll realize that there's nothing quite like it on these forums. this is the product of extensive testing and the culmination of several very shsrp minds (the testers that is - they were incredible and provided huge swaths of ideas, suggestions, and bug hunting reports). where are we right now with it? well - i'm putting in some additional CivP entries for some of the added wonders. there's like 150+ of them that needed entries and links to them. we're about half way through that list right now. once that's done, this hog'll essentially be complete. a last audit of the CivP file by our CivP chief (7ronin) will be the last step.

lastly, i take great pride in the stuff i release here on the forums. and for what it's worth, i've been working essentially non-stop on this hog since last Novemeber! yes! almost a full year! and once it's ready for release, i promise that you guys will like the goods. it's provided me and the testers w/ hours and hours of enjoyment. so hang in there gents. i promise that it'll be well worth it...

PS - on a sidenote - in conjunction w/ the release of this new AoI version, i intend to relase a 'piggy-back' biq file (ie-it'll run off of the AoI folders) for a Euro/Med WWI scenario which i've been slowly plugging away at. so we'll pretty much have 2 scenarios for the price of 1. :)

I think you guys will agree it was worth the wait when you see the results and if you are a fan of TCW, you are going to be excited at the prospect of seeing all the refinements and concepts being put in this scenario being put to use for TCW. As good as El Justo's scenarios have been in the past, the speed, concepts and playability of this just go head and shoulders above anything he has released in the past. I had thought we were at the limits of the game engine and "tricks" you could pull off with scenarios and the game engine, but I was wrong.

This scenario has changed significantly compared to when we started testing and what it is now.

Again, I think you will like the results of the finished product. :)

Thanks for the reply El Justo!

I suppose then that the question that needs to be asked is when does SOE get released? :p

I'd like to thank in advance everybody who contributed time to making the scenario what it is. Average players like me really appreciate the effort that you guys put into these things. Keep up the good work!

hi wgauld. thanks :) wait until v3.0 comes out b/c the turn times are even faster!

below is a shot of the new city set by varwnos. i've subbed them in for the American cities i had in there. also shown is the USS Maine BB. Remember the Maine! anyhow - do the cities appear too small?

El J, I see that you are using the Vrwnos cities which I think really look great.
i like them too. :)

btw - did you get my message w/ the file from late last night?

Hi El Justo.

I think there're just the right size. Very nice!
I don't think it would look nice if they would be bigger, because of the tight grid of cities.
About the cityplacement: Do all cities have a good productionlevel? Even in Europe?

Redman

P.S.: El Justo, where can I find the thread about SOE?

Indeed the cities do look excellent

Here is a players guide I have been working on for AoI 3.0. The guide has tips and suggested game strategies from an overall standpoint and also on a per position basis as well.

Okay, so, tell me if I understand this correctly. In version 3.0, the game will go to 1918, therefore encompasing WW1?
