Hi i am playing as Japan. I get a file not found about spanish cavalry? There is some talk about a patch but i can not find it?
hello sir.

did you DL the files on 3 or 4 October? if so, you must DL the files again i'm afraid. give that a try and all should work :) i mean, this problem is corrected in the most recent DL link.

Playing with Japan is fun. Took Vladivostok and now I am pushing France out of southeast Asia on turn 53. Britian is leading in victory points but I am slowly catching up.
yes, Japan is a nice position to play for sure. keep pushing for colonial possessions though as that is what will vault you ahead in the VP race.

It should be, it was the first thing we found as BETA-testers. ;)

hey EL J,
This is incredible. It feels like im playing a brand new game. It felt like christmas time when i was downloading it. You guys have outdone yourselves.

oh yeah my wife hates you!!! :)

My game as the brits keeps having a weird CTD with no error message or anything a few turns in. Might want to take a look at this before your next update.

can you provide some additional information, like when it happened, what were you building? could you also check and tell me if the wonders of cities in mainland England are the correct ones?

The recent beta release of EFZI2 has a random CTD with no error. Reload from save and everything proceeds normally.

We haven't tracked it down yet- at first we thought it was maybe the new music that had been added but if you play without music you still get a CTD.

Pretty useless info for you so far but if I ever find out the cause I will let you know.

thank you Rrakkiss for posting the link to that post. that indeed is an easier solution. :)

Little Corporal,
could you please post the save file or the AUTOSAV here in the thread so that our resident internist savas_cafe can attempt to diagnose the problem? we may have a cure...but it is indeed odd b/c some Great Britain games proceed w/out any glitches but you have not had such luck

thank you CPD. it does feel like a whole new game and i think we've stretched the limits of the game engine :)

PS-my wife is not a really big fan of anything Civilization. however, she should be commended for putting up w/ my months and months of modding

hi KingArthur :D

thanks for sharing that info.

the strange thing is that we thought we'd cured this error at the tail end of testing.

the music isn't the problem me-thinks :) as i've tried that same trick (removing the custom music folder).

now - i ask you this:
does your CTDs occur w/ only one certain civ? for us, it has occurred only w/ Great Britain...

No our one is known to happen for different civs not one civ in particular. Also, when I say that it's random that's not entirely true because it never happens in the early part of the game it's usually mid game. Also, it always occurs during the player's inter-turn time (between the end of one turn and the start of another).

Tell me what you think the root cause is and I can look for commonality in the zombie scenario.

oh, that sounds much more problematic thant our hiccup. :crazyeye:

root cause? i'm not sure entirely. however, it occurs, or had occurred, during the human player's turn as Great Britain and while the pop-up heads for completion of a city build appear. i know this all sounds rather vague. savas_cafe may be able to weigh in a little heavier than i on this though...but from the looks of it, it appears that your CTD is more random and less localized.

alas - not having an error message is the painfully brutal apsect of these damn CTDs

Oh it occurs at the "build advisor" pop-up point for us too but as you say ours is more random. Not having an error message just leaves us all in the dark - I had hoped to put Visual Studio on my PC as it typically picks up crashes with its debugger.

@savas_cafe can you give me some more info please?

well "our" CTD follows these rules
  • only (or better mainly) with British civ (bigger one)
  • during inter-turn time
  • only at the build advisor pop-up point
  • only to cities building improvements
  • mainly to non-colonial cities (as you may know, AoI has three lines of improvements queues, one generic, one for colonial cities and one for motherland cities. Each city has the ability to follow two of the three. CTD mainly (circa 80%) happens with mainland cities.
I have an idea about the reasons behind it but I need to examine the sav file of Little Corporal. I can tell you thought that it has nothing to do with resourses, isolation (due to trade isolation) or faulty pediaIcons files.

can you please tell me the total number of city improvements and wonders available in EFZI2, as well as the number of pre-placed advances?

I played a little more as the Brits and found it usually CTD on turn 10. The same thing happens with Germany with me. The USA however works just fine, I'm on turn 119 right now and no crashes at all.

I can tell you that Savas cafe:

EFZI2 has

GREAT WONDERS: 20 - of which 11 are preplaced.
SMALL WONDER: 5 - 2 of which are preplaced.
IMPROVEMENTS: 15

I've noticed some strange behaviour with Wonders too. The Wonder Initiation pop-up would appear when you started a new game telling you that Civ 'X' is building Wonder 'Y'. Strange thng is that Wonder 'Y' is preplaced i.e. already built so no one should be starting to build it.

Another oddity is that when one city with a prebuilt wonder was razed and you looked at the Great Wonders screen (F8 or whatever it is) the wonder would be displayed as being located in a different city (it hadn't actually jumped to that city though, it was just reported wrongly on that screen).

Woohoo! Weekend's here! Dling this right now El Justo. I'll be back with reports right after I emerge for air. :)
