Obviously you haven't read my posts. The dollar bill is just a piece of paper, but if you burn it, you lose what it symbolizes.

But money doesn't symbalize anything, it's "physical." You either have $100, or you don't. A flag is a symbol for freedom, but burning it doesn't remove freedom.

so when i burn a flag i lose my freedom
i say BS

and when the bank burns down i lose my money too? :crazyeye:

sit down and shut up while i enjoy my freedom.

Maybe you lose freedom if you burn an American flag; bucking the system is a risk if one is trying to improve it. But you lose WAY more freedom if you stop people from burning an American flag.

I hope youre not playing that Disco song "Burn baby burn" ;).

I would not support anyone burning the American flag. The things America stands for should never be symbolically destroyed, and only one that WOULD support North Korea (*looks at OP*) would enjoy it.

*shakes head*

are you trying to say that a flag-burner hates freedom?

sure he's not...you know...exercising it? and enjoying it?

ever consider that he loves america so much he hates to see it go down the wrong road? ever consider that? ohh...wait...i forgot, if you dont like something about america you are a dirty hippie who wants to serve terrorists tea and tuck them in at night.

or maaaaaybe.....they are enjoying the freedom that that flag represents.

its times like these that a time machine needs to be built so our founding fathers could see us now :(

Yes, it is okay to burn that flag. No, my position is not a double standard. I do not live in North Korea, I live in the United States.

I don't care if anyone here in the US burns the North Korean flag, the UK flag, the Israeli flag, the flag of the Netherland Antilles, or any other flag besides America's or Missouri's.

So its fine if they burn, say, the Californian flag?

its ok to burn any flag if you have a reason.

the only one's who oppose flag burnings are afraid of the freedom they represent.

or they're just arrogant.

If I have a hundred dollar bill (which only is symbollic of $100- the cotton it's printed on is not nearly that worth as much) and I decide to burn it. Do I still get the $100?
After you burn a $100 bill, you no longer have that particular $100 bill. After you burn a flag, you no longer have that particular flag. Whether you still have your freedom after burning a flag depends on if the state detains you. I would say you would be more likely to lose your freedom in North Korea than the United States.

Alternative: The only ones who support flag burnings are full of loathing towards the nation they represent.

I think it would be unfair to assume that a flag burner hates the country whose flag they are burning. It might be true in some instances, but not often enough to warrant an assumption.

truth: false, they only disagree with the actions of the nation of late.

for instance: a man loves america, goes to work daily, and etc.

he is angered by a recent action by the US. he burns a flag to show his distaste (also note he has a reason, not random burning, which i do loathe)

does he hate america or does he hate the action america took?
