VQ Series Discussion thread

Glad to hear that Bobrath. So after some conversations here's the result so far:

Bobrath (VQ series)
Scowler (VQ series)
Greyfox (is undecided)
Robo Kai (from the RK series)
Furrie (also from the RK series)
Cosmichail (almost forgot myself D'oh)

Since we are once again combining players from different SG's I suggest we rename it to something cool. Like really cool man.

Haven't heard from Namliam but he's more than welcome.

PS: When I look at the list that's a good team and even better with Namliam and Greyfox. Please, please Greyfox say yes. We need your wisdom, and motivational speeches. (some call it b*tching but hey). Namliam we need you too however I do realize you are on a honeymoon end Jan. 2007.

A 7 man team?? Isnt that too much?

My biggest issue is, I dont know if I can be there to the finish... Due to my OoP, which is (partly) why I put it there allready...

I dislike having to drop from games... I have had to in the past due to time constraints... and as Greyfox is ending now the SGOTM 2 by his lonesome... this is NOT good... Eventho the dropping persons may have good reason to drop, it is no fun for the person(s) left behind....

Hi everybody!

Someone (scowler) told me that another someone (Cosmichail) asked whether I would be in as some kind of jumper.

Like I've posted earlier I might be able to play on weekends but will hardly have the time to play during the week. That is still true even though things are becoming easier. :)

So as for being in as a jumper/lurker/player ... I will ponder that for another week and then post my decision.

Thanx for asking me in, Cosmic. Even though I've been one of the dropouts in the Red Team after being drafted from lurker to player there. And I concur that SGOTM 2 wasn't that much fun since it was way too much warring for me. So I have to apologize to GreyFox for being one of those who let him down.

SGOTM 3 looks interesting enough as I like the challenge to go for a diplomatic victory. I've been trying this out in Vanilla with 18 civs on a terra map. But the game isn't finished yet. :mischief: So as I said ... I will ponder this. --- And if so I'd like to go Warlords, if possible.

Regards, .

That's a good point dot which I forgot to ask but just assumed everybody would play warlords. The other thing too is they require that the HOF 2.08 be used now as it compulsary for SGOTM. Going to load that Skype and figure it out. Give an old guy time though.

Dot if you did be a jumper/lurker/player, Furrie is Houdini and disappears on the weekend. (you know young guy clubs/chicks/beer) or maybe he volunteers for a convent to help the nuns make wine. Something like that. So that would fit right in and we'd just need to make roster flexible for that. Some might feel our roster is too big but other SGOTM's have played with large team and it's great when someone needs skip and less likely feel the need to drop out should time constraints be a factor.

Ok repeat on the list:

Bobrath (VQ series) - confirmed
Scowler (VQ series) - confirmed
Greyfox (still undecided)
Robo Kai (from the RK series) - confirmed
Furrie (RK series) During the week only too many babes to conquer on weekends - confirmed during the week only
Cosmichail (Sith series) - peace lover that's why I'm Sith nut....
namliaM (contemplating likes to finish the game)
Dot (backup player weekends only - still deciding)

That's 8 players

One during the week only and the other weekends only. 3 undecided.

I would say our roster is definitely full now and feel if all confirm it isn't too many since two are part time sort of. Any suggestions welcome of course as I personally like the players and feel it would make for a "Great" team.

PS: I didn't mind the warring part of the SGOTM once we had a huge army and were razing cities like lollipops wonders and all. (ok how do you raze a lollipop anyways)

Glad that you guys are able to "barely" form two teams ... ;) All the more I should stay out

Don't split into two, that's my advice. Normal SG is okay, because people can lurk. SGOTM2 you can't. The first SGOTM1 is fun because #1, we knew each others in the team, #2 consmic and dot lurks there.

In SGOTM2, we split into 2 teams, some of us are not used to each other. That might contribute to it being less fun.

On the bright side, I could always be the official lurker there if you guys form a VQ team. ;)

For SGOTM02, don't worry abt that, people. I understand perfectly that it is extremely difficult for people to play in a game that is no longer fun. A game is suppose to have fun. So I have no problem with people dropping out a game that is no longer fun for them ... actually, I am having lots of fun after it turns into a SP (Single Player) game, racing to the space against the monster AIs (yeah I know, not compliant with the variant, but screw the variant.) ... do look for my report when I have time to post it (most likely tomorrow) :mischief:

So not splitting is better since there will be more people reading/discussing?

Oh yeah, if I join I won't be able to lurk SGOTM anymore, crud.

That's what I missed in SGOTM02 was the lurking. We were done Oct 2 and man did I lurk after that but still frustrated couldn't post to any of them. I don't think 7 or 8 players is even a bad thing. Whatever decision you make Greyfox I hope that we will see a lot of you in the SGOTM03.

Bobrath has already registered as VQ team so perhaps we should just go with that if that's ok with the rest. We just need to pick our team leader and would like to nominate Bobrath as I find he's good at providing balance. We are just waiting for Greyfox/namliaM/Dot for final decision so at this point it makes 5 players.

I agree also on your point Greyfox that more eyes the better. The more discussion the better. CFR team discussed whipping techniques for like 2 pages before they went ahead. I would rather see that than rushing into it.

Good point. Let us go with "the more merry men the merrier".
EDIT: question is, will the GOTM staff allow it?

OK I looked at the map settings. Do we want Vanilla for the better cossacks? Or do we want Warlords for the vassal states? Backdoor diplomacy looks like a good option in an overcrowded world.

Just notice your questions Robo.

Yes I don't think it's a problem as I have seen other teams with that many.

As to whether vanilla or warlords. I vote warlords but we all know what it is like with patch. I myself will go with consensus. So far four have registered:

Bobrath/Robo Kai/Cosmichail/Furrie. Scowler still has to register and Dot/NamliaM/Greyfox are still thinking about it. We have several weeks so lots of time to get our minds made up.

In warlords with patch AI grows way faster aims for growth techs like monarchy and techs faster now too with huge cities. I personally don't like it but am thinking that there must be a way to equal them. One thing for sure is early war is probably needed to slow down at least one AI from moving too fast. Also using Great people in a smart way like CFR did.

I see in registration forum that so far there are five members for VQ team.

Bobrath
Robo Kai
Scowler
Furrie
Cosmichail

So we have the beginnings of a good team and if the others decide to lurk we should be alright with five although a few more would be nice. I think this SGOTM is going to be difficult and the more input the better.

That's alright namliaM would be glad just to have you on board.

We can discuss our super secret strategy on the team thread. But we can always practice and figure out that strategy.

On the practice thread, all we should be talking about is the next move.
