True Multitreaded semi succession game, Immortal or deity.

Most often I do not combine it with anything.

OK, HE will increase whiping effect from 30-37 shields/turn to 60-74 shields/turn. Does not do it, because it is working only in slavery and only when no nationalism. Went off slavery and HE become useless.
NE - not to good idea, because befor Biology it is food + health are limiting factors to number of specialists, not happiness.

Most of the time Globe fine on it's own.

Turnset ending at AD1000. I decided to continue with my previous save.

Spoiler :

Goals for this set was to be first to Liberalism, get Globe built and draft an army.

Tech: I researched Liberalism, Nationalism (free tech), Gunpowder. I have invested into Printing Press (2107/2704, due in 4 turns) and Chemistry (388 beakers invested).

Techs acquired by trade: Engineering, Guilds, Banking.

I got one GS on the first turn. I thought hard what to do, whether to build an academy in Madrid. I deceided to save him for a good lightbulb. After Gunpower I went for Chemistry but then I got another GS in Madird. I decided to put one to use by lighbulbing part of Printing press, just prior to my hard drafting (greater population gives more beakers). This meant I swapped research to PP and finish it off for trade. Eventually I will want Rifling so hopefully it will pay off. Only Ghandi has PP atm. My other GS will be used on Chem when I reasech PP.

Globe theatre was whipped about AD880. I immediately revolted to Nationhood, Theocracy and Mercantilsm (only Mao is non-Merc). Since then I have been drafting and have 18 Muskets, 9 catapults, a medic explorer and a couple of other odds and ends. My army is here:
AD1000units.JPG

Power graph last 50 turns:
AD1000power.JPG
(Ghandi obviously has riflemen now.)

I have never drafted so hard before! I started to make deals with Ghandi again since I would soon attack Alex. The gems and silk from Ghandi helped with happiness.

Here is the empire:
AD1000empire.JPG

I will probably declare war against Alex in a couple of turns.

Spoiler :
Reading through other people's saves, I will probably reconsider which civ I declare war against, since Alex is still friendly with me. Maybe washington will be best.

@Mutineer,

Spoiler :
I have two questions:

1. Comparing the positions of our sixth cities: I settled on the coast to facilitate growth (there are three +2 food tiles with a LH) whereas your site is more inland to work the marble. Can you explain your reasoning for settling there? Is it to reduce maintanance cost and be a better production city? Can you build a LH on the ice cap?

2. You decided to build an academy with your GS. When do you think it gets to the points where an academy no longer pays off?

Thanks for all the tips so far,

Godel

I put 6th city there so sligtly lover maintence and fact is could work marble stright away. I have no idea can I build LH or not, should check save. :)

I build academy for pure tactical consideretation, I was afraid loosing Liberalism race. AI does ligtbuld education/liberalism if it can. It would not hurt, as capital will produce some sci.

You migth notice that I make a lot of decisions on pure short turm value. On higher level one can not take a long view, as most lickly you will be dead in a long run.

Continue from my save:
Spoiler :

It was very long turns.

Revolted to mercantenilism, as only trade left with a few Alex cities.
When Ex barbarian city come out of resistance I realise I underestimate greek and American culture, so I gift it to Greece.
Build Taj Maxal.
Revolted to Teocracy/castle system, Idea was to use it to expand border, but I think was mistake. Loose to mach pop to starvation when I was able to whipe it otherwize.
Thinks did go easy untill Gandy got Cavalery.
Needed at average 3 muskets to kill caavalery, loosing 2.
But poit is, I had them!
But eventially I start running out of trop.
One turn befor end made peace with Gandy.

Final tally of war.
Took 6 cities, 1 raise, 1 gift to Greece.

WW1 Continue.
Mounty seriously beat up Viky, she is dying.
He asked to join war and I agreed.

The only really winners are Chinise, I even do not know did they send anything agains gandy or not and America, who got riffles and now becoming run away civ. Gandy on other hand is in trouble. On start of war he took one patetic Greek city, but lost one to Greece and 6 to me.

This was a great thread to read through!

Too bad I wasn't aware of it earlier, or I might have given it a shot. I have yet to win on Emperor, but I enjoy playing, whether I win or lose, as I always learn something.

If you give this format another try, I will try to participate, as I know I will learn a lot.

Thanks again :)

Hi Mutineer

I'm back from holidays and played 15 turns tonight. It took quite a long time. I will finish off the turnset tomorrow night and post the report then. Sorry about the delay.

peter grimes, you can pick up from someone's save and play along if you like.

What happened to the other players?

Godel

Cabert, Idea is to give your best try, not just play with out thinking.

That help to learn and compare thougth process mach more then just go try the motion.

Continuing from my save:
Spoiler :
I had 18 muskets and other troops ready to be used. I started off by evaluating who I should attack. It was clear from the power graph that Ghandi had just got riffling. Alex was my friend. The only other civ I could attack was Washington. I began massing troops to his borders. I would split them in two: one group to take the American capital and the other to capture Chicago.

War was planned for AD1040. I looked for opportunities to start WW1, but there were none. As luck would have it, Ghandi declare war on Monte in AD1020 and Alex declared war on Washington in AD1030! The latter was very fortunate as Washington burnt one of his mobile stacks on Alex's border city, the cutting capital defence in half.

I captured the capital and Chicago, healed, regrouped and marched towards New York, the Buddhist holy city. Two turns before I was ready to capture the city Washington acquired Rifling and upgraded all his archery and melee units. Alex and Washinton also made peace. An american counterattacking force then mauled my preliminary wall-knocking squad. I delayed another turn to summon more troops as NY now had 8 rifles as garrison.

Monte and Mao then cancelled their deals with me, plunging some cities into unhappiness and unhealthiness. I begged Alex for rice and turned the culture slider to 10%.

I had to decide whether to capture the city or not. I decided to to knock the guts out of American culture. I took NY in one turn with a lot of suicide units.

I ended the first session at AD1500. It was late and there were several important decisions to be made. Research is slow and I can't trade with anyone. Should I switch to free religion momentarily in hope to trade with Vicky? What city should I take now? Washington wan't cough up tech for peace. He also has Military Tradition but probably has to build cavalry from scratch.

Btw, research went Printing Press, Chemistry (partial lighbulb), started Replaceable Parts. Traded for Divine Right (useless tech since I can't build Versaille in Madrid and then move the capital; hopefully it will help with another trade later) also received over 1200g. I also got another GS.

AD1150-1200 to appear soon...

Spoiler :
Some important decisions. It is taking a long time to do research and tech trading is not good. Look at diplomacy and see that if I swtich to free religion, Monte will move to Cautious. Monte has MT and I can give him Liberalism, Chemistry and PP. Atm he won't trade b/c he doesn't like me enough. So I revolt to FR. Damn! Now he won't trade because WFYABTA! Never mind, at least he will trade dyes again for +2happiness in most cities.

Second, what do I do with the great Scientist. He will only give me beakers towards SciMethod, which I don't really want (only Alex/Ghandi will trade and Ghandi already has it). I really need Rifling/Steal to prepare for another war as muskets have had their day. So I decided to build an academy in Madrid. I really should have done this 5 turns ago when he was born.

All along I have been checking to trade PP to Mao for his gold (300g currently). I hit the enter button and now he will give it to me for only 180g. I waited too long... But I'll take this deal.

Alex will war Ghandi for Lib and DR, but I don't want to lose happiness resources from Ghandi just yet..

Ghandi revolts to encipation which forces me to increase culture slider back to 10%.

I press on towards Philly and capture the city in AD1200. Washington will only give peace for WM. I have built 2 Granadiers and Have a Pike which I can upgrade. The big decision is whether I press on with the war against Washington.

Alex just got Replaceable Parts so I traded him Lib/DR for 80g/RP/War with Ghandi. I have set research to Rifling (0 beakers invested) but Steal may be better.

NB: I have just had a quick look at Ghandi's cities near Philly. Garisons are Jaipur (2Rifles), Karachi (3Rifles 1 Cat), Bangalor (3 Rifles). It may be a good idea to make peace with Washington and join Alex and Monte in the war against Ghandi to slow him down and capture some cities.

Current Army:
AD1200army.JPG
I've lost 21 Muskets and 9 cats but killed 18 Rifles and other Melee/Archery units.

Summary:
Tech: Printing Press, Chemistry, Replaceable Parts (2/3 reasearched, 1/3 trade), DR (from trade).

Cities: 6 built, 4 captured from Washington

Godel, I look on your save and you have an interesting position.
Viky will survive and because Mounty + Alex bizy with Gandy you have a free rain to absorb Washington, if you manage to get enoght units on front.

From other point of view, AI seems to be abit more advanced in your case, because a strongest AI, Gandy, is untouch and I do not think Mounty will beat up his riffles.

Next Round 7
20 turns
Expected end 1400 AD

I decided to continue, as Godel make a good progress.

Darn, i forgot everything:
Spoiler :

OK, look on my own save after that long time and decided that some one, Alex or Mao will get chemistry soon. So, I might as well trade it.
So, I switch to riffles and 2 turns later mao got chemistry and I traded him rep parts for chemistly, insted of useless divine rights.

AS soon as I can revolt, revolted to Free speach/free religion.
We raide our buddism long enoght, now time to betetr happiness in new cities and better relationships.

As result, Mounty went to friendly and I actially traded rest of riffling when he finally got it from him.

Mounty finished Viky and really become supperpower.
May be I made a mistake not bribing him to attack some one, as now he is have to mach on his hands, I hope it is not as.

Declare on Gandy as sson as I can.
Stright havd to revolt into Nationalism for happiness.
I was fast enogth to take 2 cities from gandy, but other were snached by chinise. Bahh, what the stack of cavalry they have.

Made peace with gandy, as WW hurt me and he is single land ties challenge.
ohh got GA, use it to bomb Last Gandy city I too in order to create buffer with any, mao or Mounty. Some land I can defend on.

Research steell , now in 11.

Currently friendly with all 3 bad boyes, Mounty, alex and Mao.
Questin is, what bad boyes will do? I neeed to take over Washington in order to have chance to win, but his power graph is scary and he has steel.
Still I am optimist, collecting a stack for him. Figting any of bad boyes will be a loosing cause, but Mounty and Mao can attack friendly! bahh...

Continuing from my save.
Spoiler :

The big question is whether to continue the war with Washington. Washington has rifles and cavalry but I have a look at his remaining cities and see that none of them are good production cities. I took about 5 turns to regroup and heal my army. In retrospect I should have signed a ceasefire during this period because I was running 10% culture for happiness (towards the end of the war I ran 20% culture).

The main question was what to research. I know that the AI likes Rifling, so it is better to trade for this and research something else. But the only civ that is trading with me is Greece, and they only just got Replaceable Parts. I can trade Chemistry to Alex but I need to invest some beakers into Rifling if the trade will work. So I started researching rifling (good for drafting).

It turned out that Alex did start researching Rifling, but he took a long time to get it - in fact, only 3 turns before I researched it myself. So I didn't trade. In retrospect I think I should have invested 5 turns of research into Rifling and then moved onto something else.

The war with Washington went fairly smoothly. By the time the Grenadiers got to the front things became a lot easier. I captured all his cities but razed San Francisco (the last city) because it was far away from my capital and wasn't a great city. (He would not offer tech for peace until I had three turns of research left, so I just continued the war.) Luckily ex-American territory came with quite a few towns, so switching to Free Speach after the war was quite profitable (I needed Barracks happiness during the war). Unfortunately Philly went into revolt twice (Indian culture) and then it flipped to India.

I have begun research Steel because I need cannons for my next war, and need enough time to build them.

I started building the Heroic Epic in Washington. I will need it to mass produce cannons and grenadiers. I started building FP in Boston. NY is probably a better location but I am fighting a culture battle there at the moment.

I got another GS in Madrid. I will save this for SciMethod, which I will research soon (hopefully trade with Alex for something). I also need Constitution to increase the effectiveness of specialists.

I am beginning universities so that Oxford can be built soon.

The big problem from he is lack of trading partners. Only Alex and Gandi will trade - Alex has nothing to offer and Ghandi is too far in front. I need to take Ghandi down before he gets Infantry. But I might be too late for that...

Btw, Ghandi and Monte signed peace but Alex and Ghandi are still at war - Alex lost one city, so Ghandi gained two cities this turnset.

Ex-American Territory
AD1400exUSA.JPG

Summary
Tech: Rifling, began Steel (due in 11+turns)
Cities: 6 built, 8 captured from the Americans (one razed and one flipped to Ghandi) => 12 Spaniard cities in total.
