True Multitreaded semi succession game, Immortal or deity.

Godel, are you still here? Only you and me left, you know.

I am happy to continue. I can probably continue playing at least one turnset a week if you are happy with that. Some weeks I may have more time though and could maybe do two turnsets a week.

It is a shame the others dropped out.

Yes, it is. Game actially shaped very interesting, don't you think so?
AI illiminate AI, Peacebuilders got walked over, all fun ;)

Yes. Ghandi has to be next on my hitlist. Once he gets Infantry he will be difficult to stop. My big problem is lack of trading partners - having to research most things myself for a while. Hopefully WFYABTA will wear off Monte soon.

Some questions:
1. I still have 20 odd Muskets not being used and being a drain on the economy. What would you do with these? Upgrade them (expensive), use them as military police or use them as grunt soldiers in the next war (lots of casualties - bad for WW)?
2. I'm not sure about my decisions regarding National Wonders. NY is better for FB, especially if I attack Ghandi soon. With the fishing nets built next turn I could get some semi-decent production there (plus run an artists to reclaim rice). Maybe I should be building a university in Boston and after that Oxford. I have few hammers invested here so switch would not be a huge waste.
3. What would you do with the GS? Use it to lighbulb part of SciMethod (not bad because after Ghandi is done State Property could be a good civic with a spread out empire) or build an academy in Boston? I'd usually lean towards lightbulbing but in this sitaution I can't trade much tech anyway.

I really need to work on getting more friends. What is Mao and Vicky like with trading when cautious? I can't keep both happy but I should at least try to woo one of them.

Also, you mentioned that certain civ backstab even when happy. In general, who are the backstabbing civs?

I did not look on your seve yet, so I can not unswer some of your questions, but..

Muskets are still resonable units. You cna use them for defence or to increase your attack stack, to make it more resistant to collateral damage and you can use them to pick up weeker units.
Or to weeker units to keep better one's alive and promote better one's.

Personally I prefure to try to keep as many units as posible alive, simply because even week unit still increase power of your stack.

Backstubbers? I do not know Warlords one yet, but in Vanilla
Mounty is a famous one, Catty and Masta are other civ that would attack friendly and can be bribed to attack friendly. Not sure about JC.

Difference between them is that Mounty will attack anyone, even civ 150% stronger then him, Catty will want military parity and Opportunist Masta need to be mush stronger.

Generally, when religions not a factor, Warmonders and peacemonders have correspondent hidden diplomatic bonuses, making warmonders like warmonder and builders like builders.
So, it tent to be a good idea to choise between them.

If you look on my saves, you can see that a long time ago I made choise in favor of warmonders, resulting me been friendly with all 3 of them and builders generally hate me.

Muskets are still resonable units.

This is the first game I have played where I have really made use of muskets and draft. I used this in an offline game (Emperor playing Mehmed) and found this strategy very powerful.

Opportunist Masta need to be mush stronger.

Do you mean Mansa Munsa? I'm not sure who else you could mean. Is Nappy a backstabber?

I think this is where you have done much better than me. I traded with Gandhi for happiness but overall this may have been a mistake. Perhaps it would have been better to run 20% culture and be tech/resource trading with 2 or 3 civs rather than just Alex. It will take a long time to repair this damage.

Thanks again for your comments. I have learnt a lot in this thread.

Hi all, been lurking on this thread a bit. I'm not a great player by any means but I will give this game a shot too, if you guys need more players (I can pick up from Round 4 or 5 and try to catch up a bit over the weekend).

Well, I picked up Mutineer's 1200 AD save. This is my first time doing deity (I was going to move up to immortal soon anyways so I figured this should be worth a try). The AI sure does love to dog pile.... I didn't really do a whole lot through 1400 AD - mostly builder stuff + drafting.

Spoiler :

Monty killed Vicky in 1240 AD. Monty then joined the fray in going after Gandhi in 1270 AD. I rejoined the war in 1300AD, and captured Delhi shortly thereafter. Everybody else had a free-for-all for Gandhi's cities and all that's left is little Hyderabad on the island (I'm going to try to kill Gandhi off so that I might be able to bribe Monty and Mao into other wars. Although Mao has too much tech so that might be harder...)

On a different note, Washington declared war on Alex! No doubt I'll be joining that war soon... although I'd like to finish off Gandhi's last city before commencing that war so that I can minimize the WW from the Gandhi-war.

Techwise, I just picked up chemistry + rifling and I'm working on steel next (14 turns). The economy's not doing terribly, but the FE is hitting its limits on the original Spanish cities - maybe shoot for biology after steel? I'm going to start upgrading some of the macemen who make it to CRII as I'm short grenadiers and Washington's got rifles + cannons.

On second thought, maybe I will start researching constitution so that I can trade the rest of that for chemistry with Alex. He's going to need it if he's going to live considering Washington's power graph. At least Wash's flank looks empty and his main cities aren't too heavily garrisoned.

Shyuhe,

WW is civ independent, meaning if you are in peace with Gandy, WW from war with him would not effect you when you warring washington.

We want to join motherland will, but I do not think it justify expences of doing amphibious assult on his 1 tie city.

Finished my turns.

Spoiler :

Was continue to draft riffles for a long time, when researching steel.
Made defence pacts with Mounty and alex.
I want Mounty to attack chinise.
When finished steel manage to trade it for sci method, Astronomy and representation.
Revolted to nationalism, but if cause very little positive balance on research, as I do not have that many towns yet.

Mao come and asked to declare on Gandy, I agrees with regret.
It cancel all my defence pacts and give me a lot of WW from previous war.
I do not want to become Mao target yet.

Research set to biology, but go very slow.

Washington declare on alex, 2 turns befor end Alex asked to declare and I offcause did.
I have resonable army and they spend a lot of units.
Last turn move my offence stack in. It is not that good stack, but I do have a lot of riffles, all drafted.

A power drop. Mounty has now incredible power advantage.

Well, I wanted to eliminate Gandhi so that it would free up Monty's hands (and Mao too) in hopes that I could get them to war with Washington. I guess it's a pretty big gamble though since they might dogpile on me instead if I declare on Washington... So be it. Peace with the stupid one tile city and on to Washington with outdated units!

I will play at least 10 turns tonight.

QUESTION: Does the "you have traded with our worst enemy" diplo penalty accumulate over time?

That is, I am trading with Gandhi and Gandhi is Alex's worst enemy. Alex has already asked me to cancel deals with Gandhi and I said no. IIRC, there is currently -2 from Alex for trading with his worst enemy. Can this increase if I continue trading, EVEN IF Alex doesn't request that I stop trading again?

Finished up to 1550 AD (I hope that's the correct year).

Spoiler :

So Alex didn't ask me to join the war against Washington, but Washington managed to conquer into Teohuacan. I figured his troops are going along the eastern coast, and my main stack was up north in the ex-Indians lands so I declared and drove my north stack towards Philly, while I drafted/whipped some units in the south to head towards Wash's main stack.

Washington gave me a slight scare by landing some troops next to Seville, but I drafted some troops to beef up defense, and then killed his troops the next turn when he failed to attack my city.

I got Philly with some crappy muskets, maces and catapults (I got really lucky on the withdraws of my catapults). I then routed the catapults and maces south towards Chicago and took that as well. I tried to broker peace at this point but Washington demanded Philly back so I trudged on. I got another lucky break when Teohuacan went into revolt - I attacked it and hammered his troops which were damaged from the revolt. Washington was willing to take peace at this point, and gave me gold to boot! Now I finally get some CR3 grenadiers!

I traded around a bit on the techs, as I burned two GS on scientific method then traded steel to Monty for the rest of constitution and sci method. I'm on biology now (probably come in in 10 turns).

sooo.... I'm at least ahead of WAshington in score now (hurray for some lucky rolls). But Monty's running away in score and Mao's running away in tech (he's got rocketry already). Things are looking grim here...

Here's my tiny military:

You have traded with worst enemy do accumulate with trading up to -4(Apply only to tech trading), but dissipitate with time slowly. Refuse to stop trading penalty never go away.

In my save I did traded with Gandy, but he was Mao worst enemy, so now I have -1 for trading from mao, but I agreed to declare war, so I do not have permanent - with him.

Yes, 1550 is a correct yer, you allways can use F8 to check.

Mutineer, I just looked at your save. Man your position looks so much better than mine... I'm still missing MT and astronomy. I'm hoping to shop biology around a bit as soon as I get it but I might get screwed hard if the AI beats me to it... Did you draft all those rifles from the globe city? Or did you draft them from other cities too?

Well I drafted them from all cities I was able to, even include 2 indians one's.
You can easy see it in save if you look on unhappiness from draft.
Globe city was drafted each turn I was in Nationalism.
Tech wize I got 2 GA insted of your 2 GS, but I traded better.
I used GA to bomb left border city and saving second GA to bomb some city in Washington land I decide I need to, or maybe Indian capital, as greek culture aproach on it.
But actially war wareness fom this phony indian war preventing me form teching well, it forced me to whipe a lot of slow grow pop in ex indian land.

Spoiler :
Spent most of this turnset building. Built HE in Washington, FP in New York, started Oxford in Boston.

I tried to get better relations with the other civs. Alex is back to friendly, Monte is now pleased and Mao is cautious.

Research: Steel, SciMethod, Bio (24 turns to go!), Constitution (trade) and Economics (trade).

All the trade was with Alex. Gandhi was getting ahead with artillary and SAM so I had to declare war against him (AD1535) before he got infantry. I bribed Alex to join for SciMethod. Monte has too much on his hands - I am hoping it is Gandhi.

I captured Knossis, but the city is now surrounded by Indian culture. Gandhi counter attacked with city raider artillery and cavalry and I lost my stronger troops. I am not sure what to do - perhaps I will need to gift the city back to Alex because I can't reinforce troops easily. But I also got a GA which can get to the city in 2 turns which may give the culture I need to claim the land.

I am hoping to get three or four cities from Gandhi. I will have to gift some to Alex, but they are better in Alex's hands rather than Gandhi's.

Civics: I ran free speech/free religion/decentralisation/HR/slavery most of the time, but revolted to economics and nationalism at the end.

Yes, by the look of it, decision to attack Gandy was better, as Gandy develop mach faster, as result all world develop faster.

If culture old, GA would not help you to claim any ties.

Seems we got all 3 active save fast, consider round close, I will close it properly tomorrow, when I have time.
