SCENARIO: Age of Imperialism; 1895-1924, Deluxe Version 2016-10-05

It is not like they are very threatening, Tank_Guy, but it is annoying when a stack of 20 of them bombards a much stronger ship to next to nothing and then suicide 5 or 6 against it to finish it off.

It's even more irritating when a 20-stack bombard the hell out of a cities defenders and then their ground troops overrun it with the greatest of ease. Which is what happened the first time I played AoI. The British annihilated the garrison on New Guinea (I was greatly unprepared, to put it mildly), and I lost several cities in the Far East and one in Africa that way. Of course I decimated their North Sea fleet with a relentless assault of dreadnoughts and pre-dreadnoughts. I also managed to destroy several buildings in London and several other cities on the English homeland.

hi there.

attached you'll find the solution.

DL said file, unzip it, click inside the unzipped folder until you find the two (2) unit files (Spanish Cavalry & German Infantry WW1), click 'Edit' --> 'Seclect All' --> 'Cut' and then paste it into the following directory:
Civilization III/Conquests/Scenarios/AoI/Art/Units

overwrite both existing files

and now you can pick right up where you left off - iow - you don't have to start over :)

El Justo,
I just tried to dl the fix for the spanish cav error, and I found that the zip folder was corrupt. Could you post one that isn't. I have tried to copy a new art folder and name it spanish cavalry, but it doesn't seem to work.
HELP PLEASE!!!!

P.S. Wonderful scenario, absolutly beautiful!:goodjob:

If you copy an art folder, yuo must also go into the folder and rename the file in there to Spanish Cavalry.

hello :)

it's actually more likely that the extraction process of the patch file went bad. either try extracting it again or do what Theryman suggests by renaming any 'copied' file to Spanish Cavalry (both the folder name and the INI file inside - ie both files).

the easiest way imo is to plug in the 2 unit folders and overwrite everything :D

Im away from the computer I play with right now, so I can't try it out yet, but I'll let you guys know if I need further instruction, beyond extracting my knowledge is pretty basic. Thanks for all the help. :)

Offensive im Osten geht weiter... Zeppeline beherrschen die Lüfte... Schwere Seegefechte in Fernost...

The offensive against the Russians continues. Barnal was taken. An ending is not in sight. The Russians do have nothing to cope our mighty forces.
Zeppeline rule the skys over the seas. At the Channel and off Norway two British battleships were damaged by our Naval Zeppelins. The one near Plymouth was finished off by our destroyer V 3 on her first voyage. As being the first of such a young commander and despite heavy fire of the enemy the commander was awarded the Pour le Mérite for his actions.
In the sea fights in the Far east two other orders were given to our naval officers. Indeed at Australia our forces sank 4 destroyer and off Malaya two transports and another destroyer. The fights here are heavy and most likely more ships have to be sent to East Asia.
Also at Palembang our forces were able to crush a British invasion force. Only two heavy beaten cavalry units did not surrender but will be forced to do so soon.

Jerusalem unter chinesischer Flagge!...

China took the Holy City Jerusalem from the Ottomans. The Yellow Peril is now growing and the Reichstag decided to ask the foreign bureau to protest against that. In that ministery an official said, that resolution was backing up a declaration to the Chinese government. With nearly all of Arabia in their hands we have to stop them as soon as possible. War is again in the air. It is said, Feldmarschall Paul von Lettow- Vorbeck is preparing to go to Arabia. Now we have to defend the Holy Country from the Yellow Peril.

How come I cannot capture workers? Whenever I move into a city or tile that they are in, they just fall over and die. At least, the civil engineers do- I am not too sure about Colonial Conscript Workers.

Is it supposed to be like that, to keep me from getting hundreds of workers?

Theryman,

that occurs b/c the civ 3 game engine is set up so that when we actually 'capture' enemy units with 0A/0D (civ eng's & flavor arty pieces come to mind), we can only 'keep' them if we can actually build them.

so - the generic arty pieces, if you can build them, you'll also be able to capture them. same goes for the colonial conscript workers...

I can capture Colonial workers now for sure, but why not Civil Engineers?

Anyways, I started a new long game (the last was short) and am turn 73 as the US. I quickly absorbed Mexico and Central America, as usual. Rather than turn north to Canada, though, I looked south at Cuba, and the ailing Spanish.

Why ailing? A little before, France declarec on Spain, and took all of their European cities except Madrid, which is landlocked. So they could no longer build ships.

War was declared, and Cuba was quickly taken entirely, along with the natives. I also spawned a leader here. I swiped San Juan easily, without the army. To work it out a bit, I also declared on Hispaniola and wiped them out in 3 turns.

I looked towards the phillipines- I took Guam, and it was completely undefended! As soon as my ships were in sight, it emptied out. (???) Manila fell soon after, and I wiped out the Phillipine Natives on my way to the other Spanish city on that island, also completely undefended. (On a side note, why are the the Native cities always so much better defended than the colonies?)

The spanish island to the immediate north fell quickly, as did that Princess Puerta cuty. And that just about did it for the Spanish, their only city left being the completely surrounded and landlocked Madrid.

I then started gearing up for a big European invasion. I planned to take Azores Island, then the rest of Portugal in Europe, and finish Spain for posteritys sake. But then, the British started to nose around.

The Brits had always sent ships through my territorial waters, and I hadn't really minded. But then, 8 Mounties crossed our borders by Seattle. They had to be invading me- there was no place else to go! I told them to leave, and they declared. Europe will have to wait.

I quickly kill the Calv, and my army and artillery move across the border to Ottowa. I bombard, and kill the remaining soldiers with a mixture of the Army (with Infrantry, btw), regular infantry, and cavs.

Luckily I had just taken the last Spanish city in the Phillipines a few turns before, so my whole army was still there. I have troops right next to a English city there, and when that falls, I will jump across to their city on mainland Asia (the one right below french Saigon). I will maybe take Hong Kong, too, but after that will have to wait for reinforcements because most of my force is guarding citys, and the Phillipines are a bit slow in producing new units.

So, my goal is to take as a lot of Canada, Kingston, New Belize, and some Asia cities from the British to knock them down a notch. A lot to do, but I think I can handle it.

In VP right now, I am second only to France, with GB a close third. Russia has also emerged as a real power so far, and they are currently at war with China, and I have not seen any cities trade hands. Germany and Britian had a war earlier, but I did not see any cities change hands.

Naval Superiority has been a real help so far. I took Latin America, the Carribeans and the Phillipines with solely naval bombardment. I expect artillery to come into more use now, though, because a lot of Canadian cities are landlocked. They already helped with Ottawa.

Offensive im Osten ungebremst... Luftangriff auf Scapa Flow erfolgreich... Britische Invasionstruppen auf Sumatra kapitulieren...

The offensive in the East was not slowed down but indeed was enforced again. Chauskov, Khampa, Bishkek and Tashkent were taken. So the Russians lost their last town in Europe and Dushanbe is now alone and disrupted from the other towns. With such a dramatic collapse of the Russian army nobody expected. However officials said, this is now the peak of the movement war. Now the terrain will forbid fast movements and so slow down the advance dramatically. And although the Russians lost city after city no sign of peace was made yet. And that will be costly for Russia.
Scapa Flow was attacked by our Zeppelins. This resulted in the sinking of the Dreadnought damaged by our Zeppelins a few weeks ago. Another dreadnought was sunk off Plymouth.
The war in the colonies saw the surrender of the British forces on Sumatra. Also a destroyer was sunk in the Torres strait near Australia.
