[Warlords] Modern Warfare Mod

Welcome Baal_Isidro, nice to see an expansion of the "team" behind this (much needed) mod.

AHAHA. :(

If anything the release is a bit further off. Baal_Isidro's addition to the team will help bring up the quality of some of the units, and has helped get me off my duff to work on it some more. So the release is still a ways, off - but with more to it.

Just a suggestion:
I would be glad to see cold war scenario for this mod with great amounts of nukes on both side capable to evaporate all cities on the map :)
for example
Israel: 1 ICBMs / China: 2 ICBMs / EU: 3 (or 2 for france and 1 for gbr) ICBMs / USA: 25 ICBMs / Russia: 37 ICBMs

it would be interesting gameplay to be one of the empires with red button :)
 
I just want everyone to know that there's been a lot of work on the mod in the last week or so. Baal_Isidro has been a great asset to the team, and is already do some nice work on the skins. The XML is also coming along nicely, as are some new ideas. Stay tuned, this thing might be out sooner than expected!

it's very sad u didn't replay on my message about new unit - TopolM. I've added special function into my mod - Special Unit ability which one allows to some nations to have units like noone has. TopolM whould be great for Russia in multiplayers game ( i need just car with car animation, no additional scripts needed ).
any way, if you want you can send me some of ur new units by email untill this weekend so i can use it in my upcoming 5.3 update ( it's out this weekend ). if u will not sand it it's just will be less fun for our gamers community since lot of people love your units in my scenarios. i know you want YOUR units in YOUR mod but still, we do MODS for people ;)

I don't feel I need to respond to or create every unit someone PMs me about. Besides, I think I've created just about enough Russian units. There are far more countries out there that need attention.

The units created for this mod will only be released in this mod initially. I'm glad you're getting 5.3 out, it'll be nice to have an update. But I don't think things will be that bad without these units.

Somehow, I think the community will survive. Some people might do mods for other people, but I work on this one out of my own enjoyment. The fact that I publish it (I was playing it long before I actually released it) is only because I want to. That might sound selfish, but it's the way things work.
 
when I do a play now option for this mod it stops when the game is loading and says sid meier's civilization 4 warlords has encountered a problem and needs to close. It does it almost every time. I send the error report and it still does not load. Does this happen to anyone else or just me

it did do that for me but it was fixed with a update to 2.08 that id did forget when I installed it

If I may, I'd like to suggest the addition of the AMX fighter. It's a highly effective light strike fighter used by Italian and Brazilian air forces. It flew more than 250 missions in the Kosovo war without a single loss. You can check it out (in case you don't already know it) here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMX_International_AMX
It'd come in handy for Rome/Italy. For Brazil too, if you decide to add it.:rolleyes: ;)

sorry for a noob question here but beside some info about where to put mods (c:\program files etc or in the mygames folder) I didn't find many infos to activate a mod.

So what I managed is
a) download it
b) copy it to the mod folder not in programs/firaxis but in the mygames...warlords/mod directory.
c) I can choose the mod, and it shows perfectly fine Modern Warfare in the top right corner.

Now the question...
I started a single player game and hoped for loads new units and stuff and played it actually to modern age twice - but nothing of your wonderful units showing up.
Also in scenarios etc nothing new to find...

So how do I get to see the new units? ;-)

LOL, what did they do then? Take pictures of the landscape? A Dutch F16 shot down a MIG after evading several SAM missiles. You cannot dodge those at subsonic speed. But seriously: it would be a nice unit for the Roman empire.

Thats where I had it first, then searched the boards here for some FAQs etc before bothering anyone and found that someone suggested mods and stuff to be put into mygames/warlords/mods.

Funny thing is: its loading in both places and showing perfectly - but it doesn't do anything for me :-(

I can try reinstall it in english version (german one installed here), prolly thats the fault. Newest version patched etc too so really can't make out why it wouldn't work.

As I tested for longer time working myself to new tech area: I can shorten that by starting a game, open the worldbuilder and then check if the new units show up right?

Would make testing a bit easier, altho playing a few hours here and there works too *g*.

Well, I'm not an aircraft expert, but I can tell you that's official info and that most missions (if not all) were strickes. That aircraft has outstanding performance flying at low altitude to approach the target (it was designed for that); perhaps it has something to do with it.
 
Hey snafusmith! Love the work you have done with the modern warfare pack! :goodjob: Just fyi I'm not sure if you already know this but I noticed that you had the Australian version of the Leopard 1A3 skin slated for the next release, so I thought I would share the knowledge. As of earlier this year the ADF received their first batch of M1A1 Abrams tanks at a training facility in Darwin. And now are expecting about 100 more if my memory serves me correctly, they are begining to phase out the Leopard in favour of the M1A1 (dunno why, persoanlly I think it would be wiser to go the Leopard 2 but hey Im not John Howard:lol: ) Camo schemes from what I have seen are very similar to that of the Leopards we currently are using.:)
