MILITARY PROMOTIONS - BERLIN ARMY

I want to put in order a proper military report, structuring our army in better detail, so we can plan promotions for a better military doctrine.

Catapult (2.1) Collateral Imminent Promotion 5/10

Spearman Combat Imminent Promotion 4/5
This one will get the 25 % bonus against mounted units

I believe that this should go into offices, agree?

FYI formation requires combat II

Edit: Also after looking at your screenshot, I noticed that the medic mace isn't eligible for a promotion. He needs another 2 xp.

With the newest "Kill the Longbow" poll, I will amend the Keshiks promotion to be "Amphibious", so it negates all river defense bonuses or coastal landing minuses.

The healthy Keshik isn't eligible for a promotion. And I'm not sure how much damage the wounded one would do to the LB.

Actually, if you perform a "mock attack" using that keshik (pick it up with the mouse and hover over the longbow) and look at the popup text in the lower left corner of the screen, you will see that it doesn't have a river penalty. :p

Thank you Dave, I did not know there was no river penalties for Keshiks. The bigger reason to produce more of them. The Amphibious trait is now replaced with Combat III again. My wrong, I did not investigate that particular event.
I hope the same amount of research go into civics, and we would be better off.

However, I still stand by that I was the only one worrying about the counter from Berlin or the elephant, to kill the keshik. Hence the ministack.

you will see that it [Keshik] doesn't have a river penalty.
Its news to me that the Keshik doesn't have a river penalty. I've never heard that before. But you are correct, the mouse-over text doesn't show it.

Personally, I would glady trade Keshiks for Elephants all day long. Take a peek at the production graph to see why ...

With all due respect Conroe, this is where our opinions differ. I rather sacrifice lowly axemen to Keshiks, especially if they have awkward promotions like anti-cavalry and so on. In the present battle, I would use the chance to sacrifice units less worth and not deemed useful on this continent, to protect high value units.

I think we can get out of this all, with one axeman, one maceman and four catapults less.

I'd prefer to lose an Axeman over a Keshik, as well. But I also have no problem sacrificing a 50-hammer str-6 unit to kill a 60-hammer str-8 unit. Especially with a production graph like this one.

Excellent point, especially taking into consideration the graph. We could build three or more replacements in the time he could build just one. Granted we currently have a lot of our production tied up in needed courthouses.

Well, in this neo-classicist economic line of thought. Have you ever considered the concept of symmetric vs. assymetrical warfare?

I think not. The units besieging Berlin are some of the finest in the Mongol Empire, veterans of the French and Roman wars, with several promotions.
Sacrificing these excellent units due to shortsighted analysis os not acceptable. Keeping this assault force intact is vital, in particular if you want to continue the war.

Mouse over doesn't count rivers correctly if a unit has to move more than one tile.

Then I was probably right with the blocking move on the foodplain, but the poll made sure of that I had to comply to Daveshack and his support.
