Scientists in Geneva have detected an influx of radiation into the atmosphere, duplicating similar events that occurred after the destruction of Stalingrad. Atomic specialists believe that this is due to the testing of another atomic weapon. Many widely believe that another nation may be nuclear weapons capable.
UNITED NATIONS OPENED FOR BUSINESS. Singapore, United Nations. After a two year long conference the island of Singapore has been granted to the control of an United Nations government by the United States of America. Replacing the defunct Council of Nations, the United Nations is a new hope for peace on Earth. Most nations have joined with the new United Nations, in the hope of preventing another destructive conflict like the Third World War.

RIOTS IN BUENOS AIRES. Buenos Aires, South African Argentina Occupation Zone. Workers and other members of the lower classes have rioted throughout Argentina against South African occupation. Spurred by the inflammatory rhetoric of a renown socialist radio speaker “Senorita Eva,” the Argentine workers have demanded immediate withdrawal of the South African forces. The socialist leaders have pledged to keep up the fight until their goals are achieved.

Throughout the course of 1945, over a quarter of a million soldiers have been demilitarized and sent back home to work in agriculture and the factories. ASA ANNOUNCES WARGAMES IN EIRE. Dublin, Eire. The member nations of the Atlantic Security Agreement have announced the start of massive land, sea, and air wargames to occur in Eire yearly. President Brynes of the United States has called the move as an effort to bring greater cohesion and unity to the forces of the ASA. Also, much investment has been poured into the island to build the needed military bases, bringing a significant amount of jobs and some prosperity to the more impoverished parts of the island. THE END OF GREECE. Rome, Italy. Representatives of the Italian, Bulgaria, and Serbian governments have announced annexation and division of the former Greek nation. Athens and most of Greece has been annexed by the Italian Empire to widespread support at home, as the people cheer the victorious Italian army. Serbia has been granted administration of Thessalonika to help that nation gain the seaport it has always desired. Bulgaria has annexed the long disputed region of Thrace, historically claimed by Bulgaria.
FLAMES GROW IN SCANDINAVIA. Stockholm, Republic of Scandinavia. Following the destruction of the Rikstag in February, President Weimar has blamed the Ledig Norge for the action and has instituted martial law in Norway alone. Sweeping the region city by city, thousands of individuals have been arrested for participation within the Norwegian liberation organization, though the government has certainly not been met with complete success. Assassinations of government generals among the divisions attacking Ledig Norge have been successful in a multitude of methods, including bombs, snipers, and exploding cigars. The first military engagement between the two forces occurred in the city of Bergen, where government forces attempted to storm the building where it was believed the Norwegian Congress was meeting to elect a new king. Having been lured into an ambush, the Norwegians devastated the local division, though they were forced to go into hiding following the arrival of government reinforcements. The government also began bombing believed Ledig Norge strongholds with rocket attacks, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians, particularly after a hospital was leveled following a rocket strike on the building. GERMAN CIVIL WAR. Heavy fighting has occurred in Germany as Nazi forces recieved an influx of oil from foriegn sources. A monarchist counterattack in the north was repulsed by forces under Rommel, who quickly retaliated and began a push eastward against heavy resistance. Heavy fighting has occurred outside of Berlin as monarchist and Nazi forces struggle for control of the city. In the south, Italian military forces have launched a major offensive, driving the Nazis out of Austria and reaching the Danube before being halting. The German forces freed up by this offensive have been instrumental in halting the Nazi attack on Berlin.

“LEAGUE” OF AFRICAN NATIONS FORMED. Banjul, West African Union. Diplomats from the West African Union and the Consolidated States of Afrika have formed a new alliance of the two African Nations. This league has been met by lackluster support from most African nations who view the alliance as not much more than a paper tiger. The two other large African nations, Abyssinia, and the Republic of South Africa have refused to participate in the new alliance.
SOUTH AFRICAN CIVIL WAR ENDS. Pretoria, Republic of South Africa. Following the two year civil war, the government in Pretoria has announced the creation of a completely black African regime in Madagascar. The former Liberal government has been given power on the island, which has been forbid from entering into alliances or constructing a navy. The South African economy has been hurt by the loss of the resources on the island, though they’ve managed to bounce back with the introduction of Indochinese computing machines to the nation.

Afghanistan, a nation which received a large amount of Turkish immigrants throughout the past thirty years, has spearheaded the movement under King Saladin Khan. The new nation has become a powerhouse in Central Asia and the Brotherhood of Islamic Nations.
