The Era Time Began

50br-50ar (After/Before Religion)
Update 5.

There has been a time before war, a time before religion, a time before so many things, yet finally the clocks have sprung into life. The world is cranking into gear and the blood spilt by the defeated foe feeds the lands of the victors. Trade networks are gaining complexity, and some nations manage to siphon off considerable sums from the money flowing freely around the world.

The first nations clashed in a time now known as 27br, or 27 years before religion. For by the year 28br Gojoseon is in trouble, deep trouble. What had been planned as a simple mission had backfired considerably. The plan to nationally denounce General Quisotic and gain support for their destruction did not reach its aims. Sending a large force of Foot soldiers and Cavalry groups attacking into Ginjay seemed so easy. The Gojoeson had considerably underestimated General Quisotic. Where they proclaimed to wipe out all traitors and take the Ginjay population as slaves, he was using it to fuel the drive of his small nation. This brought forth extra levies willing to defend their new freedom to the death. This was not the biggest problem however. That award went to the fact the Gojoeson plan left only 4 bands of warriors to defend the rest of the entire nation, combine this with their lack of an naval forces meant they were unable to stop General Quisotic making significant counter attacks. He made a landing on the coast right next to their capital, and advanced towards it. All the while, some of Quisotic’s men were playing a game of kiss chase with Gojoseon’s troops, retreating and ambushing as they capitulated land. When Gojoseon was advancing into Ginjay as planned it seemed, General Quisotic was sailing around the coast with 5 bands of his best warriors. They smashed into the capital, and only some last minute rerouting of Gojoseon’s troops stopped it from being destroyed completely. Sinsi is for all intents and purposes surrounded. Within its sieged walls, a project called "Jangchundo" is started. The project is to map out the entire known world to Gojoseon. It will help with teaching and also military movements.

Elsewhere, there is growing tension between Bactriana and the Odenes. Expansion by both nations has now brought them border to border, with both leaders ordering the capture of the same land. The generals intelligence has stopped any minor skirmishes developing into full scale war. While for now no war has broken out, the two large armies are now camped mere fields apart and it won’t take much to change this. Perhaps a diplomatic agreement can be reached, it wouldn’t it be more fun if a war were to break out ! ;) The distance from the battle front to Odene’s capital is making communications increasingly difficult to make at a acceptable rate.

Due to the death of the previous Avil, Gepo, the lords in Odene’s attempted to grab as much influence as they could. Ream was very concerned about this – due to rapid expansion the Odene Empire was going through, it sometimes conquered some tribal areas where the primitive chiefs still considered themselves the kings of the provinces. The regional problems was especially shown in an affair concerning a trading area east of Iria: The local chief Maia Jahm decided that his share of the trading tax should be 10% higher. There was a minor amount of political unrest concerning this, but Riamt managed to fend off the troubles by simply telling Maia Jahm that he could designate more trade to that area. Maia Jahm withdrew his proposal and accepted the royal one, but died soon after, apparently tripping over a curtain and violently stabbing himself multiple times to the head and torso. His son, Kubhja, was keen to profess he was very fond of the Avil, in order to prevent such accidents occurring again.
Riamt wanted to make the royal subjects consider him not only an Avil, but also a father for them and their country. To make sure he gained this status, he had to arrange national marriages. Twelve nobles were married this way, eight of them with royal uini (An uini, as a human pet girl, was somehow considered part of the family), this helped develop a national royal nobility, loyal but with power below the Avil himself.

The Panchali nation is developing the idea of crop rotation. Farmers have noticed that if you plant the same crop year after year on the same land, after a few years the yields drop considerably, some who mixed up their planting have found yields do not drop as much. They reported this hoping to gain favors from the crown. They were rewarded well and the government has ceased upon it with a new scientific fervor. They see it as a potential way of breaching the seeming limit on their nations economic growth and poured funding into it. This rotation could mean that the land will be able to produce more food than the people living on it require. Large expansion in their river boats and soldiers sees greater control of the rivers, and the expansion along them.

Gupta makes massive gains, seeing growth in its population and territory. Scouts contact the Ubunto nation, and are received well. They return bestowed with gifts (+1 Bonus Eco). Infrastructure is invested into, but it is a drop in the ocean with these new lands, and the current technologies restrict quite how much can be done.

Bangla expands aggressively, legal purchasing, although cheating, lying, stealing and general knavery seems also to have been involved. Its agriculture growth was showing signs of leveling off so some investment is redirected to industrial growth. The nations tiny levied army struggles to maintain control.

With the death of Gilgamesh, the Maori nation whirls back into life, Harbors are completed and the jungle is getting ripped down and turned into agricultural land. What is the most important change however is the completion of Niggeru. This highly decorated black rock his the center of Maori society and many strange ceremonies take place around its base. One of them is the ritual of Manhood; on the longest night of the year, young boys are seen to rub animal faeces on their bodies and dance around the rock until day break. Those that can maintain these dances then are entered into a series of combat situations, wrestling their counterparts. The drain on the body is great, dehydration, infection and deaths are quite common place. The winner of the contests is declared leader of all who entered the ritual, and all those who survive become men in the eyes of the tribe.

While this may seem all very basic and barbaric to many nations, this is something new to civilization, something that no other nations has achieved before. UNIQUE RELIGION IS BORN!

No other nation can develop their own religion until their culture becomes influential, or they have contact this nation and make developments from this religion. You may all develop polytheism should you wish

The small nation of Rengoir expands along the two rivers it controls, improving its agriculture along the way.

Ubunto’s small forces dig in deep as their project continues along merrily. When this completes it will increase both agriculture and infrastructure.

A small nation arises on the south of Gupta. This nation is called the Skiv. With an economy mainly based upon fishing and hunting, Jains Gerd united these nomads as a nation, citing the need to protect their waters from pirates, and also with warnings of sightings of other vessels have helped unite the populace.

Nan is encouraging its traders to take notes of the different cultures surrounding the Nan people, to see if there are possible ways to improve life in the Nan, or the people's technology. This could prove to be very helpful and a few ideas are already beginning to take shape.

The nations of Dekta and Mobandika continue to square up, making small probing attacks and there have been a few small tussles, with Mobandika taking back its small island just off the coast from Dekta. Both nations expanded elsewhere, with Mobandika expanding on the floodplains of a river to the North West.

Haijian expands its army massively and carves great chunks of land for its control out of the surrounding barbarians. It is met with increasing resistance but the large army is unstoppable unless with a united force. The growing population flows out into these new lands, tilling the land and fishing the rivers.

Lanka continues to build cities along the coasts, and King Sumali IV chooses divide the nation into three provinces, with their own mini-kingdoms. He remains the king of all, but then each province has a prince as a ruler, though the king can veto if they do anything stupid. Sending out a naval expedition finds the Skiv and the Banga (who with diplomacy can let you meet many more nations.)

Raids and Clashes

”What!?”

Riamt looked shocked at the messenger. The news had come all out of a sudden, taking him aback. His surprised eyes didn’t fade away as he spoke on. The Shiibitu area west of the Oden merge with the Indus River was apparently been lost to Bactriana.

“What happened, messenger?” he asked.

“It is by the Skythi provinces, sir. The land that is rightfully ours is being struggled about as we speak. Several Bactrian warlords have entered our lands, small clashes have happened. Some of our groups have been directly attacked by their barbarian warbands, and we have lost good sergeants to this barbarism. Losses are unknown right now, but we have many wounded.” As the young messenger spoke, Avil Riamt scratched his beard lightly. These problems made him unsure of what his foreign policies would become in the future. His own end was nearing now, as even he grew old, but his rule had not faded at all from the beginning. But what would his southern cooperating Panchalan friends think about these incidents?

“Well, I shall attend to this right away,” Avil Riamt said. He rose from his stone throne and walked over the cold floor, his steps echoing in the hall. The palace guards moved aside as his mighty movement forcefully continued forward. “I do not want war,” the Great Avil said, “Contact Oses and the Bactrian king, whoever he is. I need to attend to this matter. We have a defensive pact! This will not escalate in warfare!”

He paused, as he looked at his beautiful uini in the corner.

“Or at least, I hope not.”

Well, you could always include them as a picture should you so wish.

Could I play as the Ainu people of Northern Japan?

I would be very glad if you joined!

I would prefere it if you take a NPC nation perhaps?

There are NPC nations? Oh and when are orders due?

To: Lanka and Ubunto

Would you agree to an open trade agreement between our nations?

OOC: I do believe Gupta, Panchala, Bactriana, Odenes, and Rengnoir all agreed to trade with me, but it seems they forgot to put it in their orders. Just a reminder to make sure I can get those extra economy points... ;)
