Re singapore, I was reading a book and had questions if it was accurate...
The Colossus build was almost certainly

, but I remain hopelessly optimistic it will pay off when we really get serious about war and start taking coastal cities. yes, virigina, we have a big bronze guy standing in the ocean.
The rest of the story:
235 - whip CH in Nanjing. Xian starts an illegible something
238- Charley captures the NW barb city. Warrior starts trekkin home. Drop research to 30%
240 - trade feud to Bull for Theo. Joao is cranking CS. S***.
242 - trade Charles cows for fish.
243 - I rub my chest and Joao gives us HBR for nuttin. He also agrees to 2 gpt for cows as well as 2 more gpt for rice. research back up to 50% at +2gpt.
245 - silver rush near beijing. Stop. It is 1000AD. We've failed.

In my solo games, I usually consider the game a failure if I don't have maces by 1000AD. I have this shield (hammers for the younger players) fetish which hampers me. I whipped pretty hard and we need to get our pop up. There are some cats on the way to rally point Zara. We need to get some defense into Gzhou. LB's? Joao has jumbos running around and will soon have maces. We need more cities. We need pikes to counter the hefalumps. We really need to take the AP and spread Christianity. We should (within the next three sets) have a discussion about civs. We should also soon declare on Zara (5-15 turns away). I didn't get the war set up as nicely as I would have liked and we prolly need some more set up turns, but we should be good to go soon. The economy should recover as the population grows. Placate Joao at all costs. The combat settler slowed us down, but I really want a city SE of the gold.
In other news, Buckwheat is still dead (yes I'm really old; bonus to whomever can give the name of the actor who played Buckwheat), chicken stuffed with artichoke hearts and fontina is really good, and vodka is best served out of the freezer and mixed with ice although JD reserve has its place.
No pix. Not much changed. Mr. Bull settled a city that I think we should keep. Poor record keeping and computer illiteracy forbade a screenie. My bad for no screenie. Someone will fix this.
If you look carefully, there may be a small stack ready to assault Massawa when prudent.
Bottom line, we need more cities and markets. We can be rude to Charley, but not Joao. Engineering should be high on the priority list. More war with Zara soon. I really don't want Zara as a vassal.
