Spl02: Noob-Party

Okay, just get started and have a decision to make......

IHT #255 1100AD:
Insert lighthouse for Xian's build queue.
Aksum: switch to a library build (still in revolt)
Shanghai: insert a library for the culture as we seem to be losing there
Guangzhou: insert a library here also for some culture
Nanjing: whip the forge with the overflow into a temple
Chongdu: whip the courthouse with overflow into a Cho-ko
Beijing: whip the market and overflow into a cat

#256 1110AD:
First some good news from our friends:
spl02GoodNews.jpg

Dedre - Zara kills a Cho-ko with a longbow from inside the city! Start the cats on bombarding while the main force moves down from the other city.

Second, more good news:

I tentatively have a chariot queued up for making another super medic with GG, but wanted to get some feedback before continuing.

Also, do we wait for the Confused Holy City to build the shrine or just settle the GP? Settling will not dilute the Great Person points in Shanghai as we only have the Oracle for GP points anyway.

I think we should get that holy city. After all, it will probably save our economy...

I'll concentrate on getting that holy city and setting up a shrine.
Any other thoughts on the GG?

I'll be able to finish this up tonight and get the post/save up then.

Both are viable to me, a 2nd medic is good to have, so does having 5exps unit out of the gate. Either is fine.

Is it possible to get Aksum to build the FP instead? Library doesn't help much ... as bad as market (there are no cottages in Aksum). Or other happy buildings (it is currently sans-redshirt because of the huge stack of army stationed there -- once they moved out, the redshirts are gonna to appear).

For that matter, are we going to revolt to representation? We have the pyramids now, you know.

--

i'll go along with FP in Aksum. also agree we need some serious infra building.

we should have some detailed discussion about city management soon. if i don't get sidetracked, I'll post some screenies after dawn is done since much of what I might say is based on what she does (no pressure ;) )

Settled the GG in Beijing as per the dicussions.

#257 1120AD Lost a cat to Zara's longbow.
Debre bombed to 14%

#258 1130AD Debre bombed to 2%. Ready to attack next turn.

#259 1140AD Captured Debre (lost 1 cat, 2 cats retreated).
Shuffle troops towards Fasil in the southeast.

#260 1150AD Shanghai: cat -> cat
More troop movement.

#261 1160AD AP vote comes up:
splo2APvote.jpg

I voted "no" and continued to move troops towards Fasil. It is guarded only by a sword and axe.
Killed of a longbow lurking around Aksum.

#262 1170AD
spl02apvoteresult.jpg

So we have peace for 10 turns. Forces are gathered at the border awaiting a chance.

#263 1180AD Build the Kong Maio in Debre and do some worker shifts.

#264 1190AD Charlemagne cancels our fish for cows, so I renegotiate for 3gp for cows.
Civil Service -> Aesthetics
Xian: lighthouse -> market

#265 1200AD Chengdu: cho-ku -> cat

The army is sitting on the border sw of Debre.
I did not make the switch to Bureaucracy at the end of the turnset, so the next turns could start with that and the change to Representation.
Be aware of the whip unhappiness just winding down in a few of the cities.

I'm probably not going to be able to play until this weekend, so Quotey, you're up.

I reviewed the save. (scoutsout now dons helmet, chemical warfare protection).

Keep all the EPs on Joao. we'll soon be wanting to steal engineering. we should employ spies where we can do so and keep growing.

Where are the maces? We need to start build them.

We own the AP. Yet we lost a vote? whip the library in Aksum. then whip a christian monestary. Then finish the FP. then spam christian missionaries.

Xian needs a duct before a market. MM for no growth til the duct is built.

War plan.

will do stuff
I like this. while to the point, maybe we should have some discussion. :crazyeye:

I forgot to consider the research path other than to steal engineering from Joao. suffice to say, I'm not sure why we're researching aest. we should have more discussion about this.

EDIT: @dawn - :salute: nice job. dinner tonight is red wine with italian sausage & pasta in a garlic, tomato, cheese white sauce

@all - english is my native language. someday I will be fluent.

Er ... don't you actually mean CONFUSED monastery and missionaries :crazyeye:? Or is the AP christian? Even if it is, with the coming war, Yara's pop will decrease, so his votes would decrease as well. Spamming confused missionary would helped us more since we own the Confucian Temple.

While I can see the workers starting to build the cottages around aksum, I really question the decision to continue with the library while I have pointed out that FP will serve us better at 40% research. A few chops would have completed the FP in no time.

Re AK's warplan: I would keep the copper city as well. Remember we have the colossus which thus far serve us nothing? We could really use it in that copper city working on all coastal tiles.

There is only one turn of research into it.
I have recently been advocating stopping at decision points (such as research/prod completing) rather than entirely superficial "good" number of turns. This is yet again another example. Paper would have serve us better than Aesthetic, since 2 or 3 AI already knows Aes, but none know Paper. Makes a better trading value. Plus it s on the path towards Lib.

nah, I meant christian. AP is christian. I figure if we work really hard we can spam both and pop a GP somewhere. :crazyeye: we'll be taking the christian holy city soon (hopefully)

my whipping suggestions were predicated on Aksum being 99% ethiopian at the moment. It has the food to grow back right quick. and of course if we whack zara totally, there is no problem... Agree the FP would help lots. Six of one, half dozen of another on the build order.

Re AK's warplan: I would keep the copper city as well. Remember we have the colossus which thus far serve us nothing? We could really use it in that copper city working on all coastal tiles.
Saw that too, but decided I wanted it one north for fresh water (the hops do better with fresh water).

Agree completely. If you're halfway thru, stop and we'll discuss and you can resume. if you're a turn or two short, cede the turns to the next person.

Beyond stealing engineering, I still don't have a vision about what to do about joao. i'll have some more wine and think on it; starting to feel an itch that Joao is next rather that Mr. Bull. If we do that, we need pikes cause of the wandering hefalumps.

I neglected to look at the worker actions so I'll go with what grey fox said.

anybody else like fasil for moai?

and what about representation? we haven't discussed that yet.

I will now shut up (splime is sorry he let me in).

I hear you on the "halting for decisions". Will follow that in the future.

The war plan fits into where the army is stationed. They should be healed and ready to move when the 10 turn peace treaty ends. Not sure, but there may be money available to do some upgrades to maces. Is it worthwhile to drop to 0% research to get the upgrade money?

I believe FP is queued for Aksum.

lurker's comment: I thought you're native language was martyfeldmanish and personally feel I'm fluent as well. Who taught you to cook? I need a cook...

Maybe 1 southeast would be better? 1 north would also be good for fresh water.

Agreed. Besides if we meet any civs on caravels then being able to see there world would be good. we are in 1200 ad after all.

Who taught you to cook? I need a cook...
giada, rachel and bobby with a pinch of paula. how much does the job pay? are living quarters provided? Pets?

Re copper city. I was advocating for one north for the fresh water that lets us keep the crabs.

I know I babble a lot, but what about Fasil for Moai? 9 workable water, fish and horses.

we are in 1200 ad after all.
but we are at watching paint dry speed.

To focus: short term, kill zara, preferably with the hansuri hanzu sword after recovering from being shot in the chest with rock salt and buried alive.

I'd vote for building the maces from scratch. took me forever to find the SoD, the planning took into account the need to heal.

On the table for discussion, civics and research.
