[Beyond the Sword] History In The Making

I really look this mod, however I miss the epic Next War play. Is there any chance of adding in JKP's Nextwar mod?

Just in case it hasn't been mentioned, for some reason, 'Regenerate World' is disabled when trying to play.

REALLY awful; any way to fix this or is this a problem for every mod out there?

Regenerate World?

Edit: I also installed the patch and started a new game and have found something I find EXTREMELY troubling.

Civics. My god, the civics.

+3 Culture per specialist for Representation? Well, goodbye Specialist Economy! An entire strategy of the game eliminated. I can't even understand how +3 culture per specialist applies.

I honestly hope this is a typo or a mistake in the code because this makes zero sense and really kills off the specialist economy.

Civics are being redone.

Yea I have moved the HiM mod to my My Games, and the pythons are in the private maps folder of the HiM directory, but still no joy.

I didn't change anything with the map scripts, but they both work just fine for me. All I did was download them and include them with the mod. Have you tried playing the maps scripts with another mod or vanilla game?

Grave:- Small point, first game I try, I get Barb Galleys, Axes and Spears appearing in 2800BC (I hadn't even built my 2nd city!), not sure if you intended this, but its a big change from the normal warriors and archers, and even meant having to take 3 archers ( 2 for semi-sacrifice), just to found my copper city......

2800BC and only one city!?!?! Sounds like you need to step up to the barbarians!

They have certain techs immediately that, when they finally spawn, get those units. Bronze Working is one of them. That was from the Pirates Mod. So if you go to the CIV4CivilizationsInfos.xml, you'll see their starting techs.

I don't plan on adding any more eras. This is History in the Making, not Future in the Making. ;)

However, if somebody was able/willing to create an add-on module with Next War... I'm all for that. :)

Grave, I just started playing this mod and I like all the changes thus far. However I am getting a CTD on turn 297 playing as Rome on the earth map you have available in post #1. I also noticed that when double clicking to enter a city (don't remember what this screen is called), the growth/production bars and the health/unhappiness levels are not being shown.

Let me know what what else you may need other than the save file.

Add on for next war units, buildings and tech are being worked on is beeing worked on. It'll probably be ready tomorrow! it needs some finnishing touches!

There seems to be some kind of error with this savegame... I can't even get it to load! :(

I'd hold off for a couple days at least... I'm going to be releasing the next version here, today sometime. :mischief:

ALOT of changes... more than v1.04.

Allright no problem but I don't quiet see why it schould change so much unless you're changing a lot of late game tech but then again I'm quiet the modding novice so I'll do what you say looking forward to the update!!! no teaser?:mischief:

Regenerate World?

When you hit 'escape' or just open up the options menu of the game, when you start, don't you see the button for 'Regenerate World' ?

Maybe it says 'Regenerate Map', not 100% sure.

But it allows you to re-run the mapscript and just create a new map before you start moving your initial units around. (if you dont like your start)

Seriously. This is just about the only thing stopping me from playing this mod more often. Ill post screenshots if for some reason you don't have this option already

You mean this? (see attached screenshot)

It works just fine for me. Actually, I never even noticed this neat little feature before. Thanks for pointing it out! I actually use it now! :goodjob:

If that's the only thing that's keeping you from playing, I dunno... sorry? :dunno:

Works just fine for me.

** UPDATE **

I'll be releasing the next version later today. Was going to do it last night, but didn't have enough seat time infront of the computer to do that.

Grave,

I think there is a problem with well. Oil requires well, and said well requires combustion. I'm building well without combustion tecnology.

Is it just me or does everyone get a ctd when exiting to main menu? If it's just me, i'm gonna delete everything and redownload until i get it right the first time.

Hi Grave and all!

Looking forward to 1.05!!! Your mod is best!

Btw, played a game as Stalin, Prince, Large Map, Adv start and hat a graphic error in the game (reloading was useless).
The scoreboard dissapeared and (no matter you were outside a city, the city frame kept on screen - but you could more ore less play like normal, changing turns, editing building queues, but the . .. .. .. .ing city screen didn´t dissapear).

I enabled python error messages, see the attachment.

This problem happend first in my Civ4-career. don´t know what caused it...
(I was playing with my modified xml-files - some unit values, buildings and the traits changed, don´t know if there is a connection).

Maybe it is just an isolated case, has anyone encountered the problem yet?

Yours Zoid

Sometimes I had issues just like that. Tons and tons of python error message windows popping up. In two games, those errors came around quite late in the game, and even though I could reload the autosave, I would have plenty of graphic glitches... the scoreboard window no longer there, the side bars of the city screen remaining even after leaving the city examine screen... basically the game was not playable anymore.

With new games, it all was fine again.

I never announced these problems because I could never reproduce them so far.

Yep, seems to be the same with me.

Let´s look forward to new games, new challenges, 1.05 and so on.. :)

No, the Well requires Refining, as does Oil.

You're not going to get it right by downloading multipule copies. You'll be downloading the exact same mod as you have before. Nothing is going to change between the first time you download and the 100th time. It's still the same mod.

Best thing is to actually save the mod to your hard drive and not delete it, then if you need to re-install the mod again, you have it saved away.

Ugh... well, that's going to postpone v1.5 indefinately until I can figure out why that's happening. Can you post up your savegame files when you experience these python errors.

It looks like it may be BUG mod related... I don't modify or alter the BUG mod in any way, shape or form, since I don't like messing with python.

I'll see what I can dig up over there.

** EDIT **

See this post I made over in their bug reporting thread:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6424447&postcount=417

Seems like you guys weren't the only ones getting this...

Any spoilers for v. 1.05 Grave?

Re-worked the Civics, removed alot of un-needed Religious Wonders, modified the Traits (again) a little more, new interface color options, etc...

But first and foremost I need to find out if these python errors are my fault, or because of the BUG mod. If it's BUG mod, no biggie... I'll patch it as a new version is released.

If it's my fault... well... v1.5 may be delayed until I figure out what I f#$&ed up!

Grave:- its either BUG mod, or a fault with the graphcis of the units you or others added, pretty sure its not something you specifically did for Hitm thats caused these guys' problems.....so rock on with any adjustments.
