While We Wait: Part 3

PS: Anyone interested in a super-low-budget sim city (2000) NES? (Just curious, as I dont have much free time left at the moment :) )

Sounds interesting. What would it be like?

Also, what tileset is that? It doesn't look standard.

I'd mod a Sim City 4 NES myself, except for the fact that I have no time. Neither do you, Daft, so don't. :p

I prefer not to keep track of how many hours it takes me :) It can take a suprising amount of time even for simple things. Then again, sometimes it all comes together easily. It all depends.

Seeing that makes me wish that I had Sim City 2000 again. :(

BTW, Spore's coming out in September, w00t!

Anyway, that reminds me of Nesopolis, my old partially-abandoned project. It was a lot of fun. I'd join this!

Igs, how would you deal with people expanding exessivly into the wilderness my nes map creates?

There are many fun options dependent on exact conditions, but basically the rule is to make their troops die one way or another. Occasional limited gains are possible, but when they are made where they are clearly untenable it's fair game to have them lost after a little while.

The Achaemenid Empire in particular had many fun cases of sending armies where it clearly wasn't supposed to do so, and losing said armies in various amusing ways (Central Asian nomads are popular, but my personal favourite has to be the Siwa Oasis). One of the main things we moderators could learn from real history is how to punish players. ;)

I always find - "That doesn't work" covers most eventualities ;).

Still, it may be better to let rulers waste armies on utterly futile campaigns when that's physically possible, given the existence of OTL precedents.

It's just GIMP does them retardedly.
I might be a horrible person because of it, but i laughed really hard at this. Oh wordplay, what would we do without you.

As testing the waters idea, and in no way does this imply intent to mod/create/help with, would anyone here be interested in a US Politics NES where what you can be isn't limited OR a nes where you play the leader-and solely the leader- of a new nation on OTL Present Day Earth.

The second idea would be that the player is the head of state of a new nation that formed between 2008-2012, like a successful secessionist movement or rebellion. All things would be kept realistic(well, sort of realistic in that in the modern day, the likelyhood of a bunch of new states popping up for NESers to take over is kinda slim.)

Either idea would try to incorporate Symh's FP idea and would include intra-update events, where in something would happen(like *gasp* in the real world) and you would react to it, between updates. It would be fine if you didn't, the only penalty would be your non-participation.

OTL=Our TimeLine, i.e. the real history that really happened in this real timeline on this real world. Also, I suggest that we add an official, exhaustive glossary of NES terms to the NES guide if it isn't already there; I have officially been asked this question in these forums often enough.

There aren't that many actually, and they're well-covered in the Wiki. ;)

"...call this place, 'Outer Heaven.'"

The subtle message was any political game will invariably devolve into weirdness anyway, so why use a real world example and let it degenerate to that point, when you can just start there? Saves everybody some trouble.

yes, it does. Howver, why cant we ever come up with something totally unique?

Because whilst invariably 1-2 people come up with things that are unique, the others come up with ridiculous rip-offs of their favorite TV Show or video game.

Also, Cradle NESes and random map fresh starts do allow totally uniqueness, and yet somehow Hinsa Hinga still exists...

So. Who here destroys their free time like myself playing World of Warcraft?
