CIVIL WAR IN EIRE. Dublin, Eire. A series of events beginning with a threatening leader to President Kennedys government in Eire has culminated in civil war. After a series of investigations pointed at several prominent anti-American politicians and military officials, attempts were made to detain those responsible. With the support of more conservative elements of the military, a coup was attempted by the fascists on the right. However, a significant part of the military has remained loyal to President Kennedy and the rebels were driven out of Dublin. The rebels have established the Irish Army of the Republic and have seized control of Cork and most of western Eire. Attempts to establish control over northern Eire failed after the Protestants declared support for the Kennedy government.
CIVIL WAR CONTINUES IN LITHUANIA. Vilinus, Lithuania. Heavy fighting has continued between Fascist and republican forces in Lithuania. WAR IN IBERIA ESCALATES. Burgos, Castile. Combat in the Iberian states has escalated following a series of events which has increased the scale of the war. The war has been symbolized by incompetence on behalf of both sides and poor communication. Early in the year, Euskadi fulfilled threats to enter the war on behalf of Catalonia and Castile, seizing the main passes in the Pyrennes and cutting off French military forces. A desperate French counteroffensive failed to reunite the armies with the French mainland. This was followed by heavy fighting in Catalonia, as the Catalonian government ordered a fight from the hillsides. The militia forces of Catalonia refused to follow orders and remained to defend the capital. After a brutal 3-month battle, the city fell to the French and has become besieged by Basque, Catalonian, and Castillian soldiers. Though the Catalonian militia remains embroiled in the fighting in Barcelona, the regular military forces launched a large but futile attack over Pyrennes into France. French armored and local forces easily defeated the clumsy attack. In the skies, the Iberian nations have easily taken control of the air thanks to superior forces provided by Euskadi and Catalonia, and wiping out the French air force. For unknown and possibly foolish reasons, the Catalonian government ordered a bombing of Rome by the entire air force. Only two planes ever made it to Italy, the rest having ditched into the sea on the way. Both incurred only minimal damage upon the Italian defense forces and were shot down soon after. The Italian populace have been angered by the attack and have demanded retribution.

ELECTIONS IN DAR-AL-ISLAM. Baghdad, Dar-al-Islam. Elections in Dar-al-Islam have had surprising results. The Pan-Islamic Party has once more acquired leadership of the nation, but many regions have seen the rise of yet another party. The Party of Mohammed has at last arrived in Dar-al-Islam. Spearheaded by Persian radical Muslims, the party calls for conversion of all infidels to Islam and the use of violence to achieve that goal. At the moment the Party of Mohammed retains only 39% of the vote, the party grows with each passing day.
CRISIS IN THE RED SEA. Djbouti, Abyssinia. A group of Abyssinian and Islamic ships clashed in a minor naval skirmish in the Red Sea after Abyssinian forces attacked believing the Muslims to be smuggling in arms for rebels and agitators in Abyssinia. The Abyssinian task group was easily defeated by the Islamic force. A group of destroyers were sent to the bottom of the ocean, though it is believed that most of the crews survived and have been picked up by other naval vessels. (-1 Destroyer Group for Abyssinia)
WORLD WAR FOUR ERUPTING? Mogadishu, Somalia. Heavy fighting has occurred throughout Somalia as an international coalition, spearheaded by the Afro-Asian Alliance, reacts to the Somali revolt against the Abyssinian government. However, the coalitions efforts have been stymied by the arrival of over 200,000 Islamic volunteers, including enough planes to support ten modern air force squadrons. For the first time in history, a rebellion has had air superiority over its masters. The planes from the Dar-al-Islam air force have devastated several Abyssinian armored columns, held the CSA forces at bay, and sunk several major South African ships. Tanks and militia fielded by Somalia and the Islamic volunteers have held most advances into Somalia, and have even threatened to launch raiding offensives into Abyssinia itself. Atrocities have been committed by both sides, as in Addis Abba, Islamic agitators attacked and slaughtered innocent civilians at Easter worship. After hearing of the Easter Massacre, Christian Abyssinian soldiers in Somalia ran rampant over several villages, slaughtering all Muslims they could find. Only after deployment of armored forces to restore order did the rioting end. The obvious Brotherhood of Islamic Nations involvement in the increasing crisis in Abyssinia and Somalia has dramatically increased tension between the Afro-Asians and Muslims.
