The Kuruan War Council

The young unmarried king stared out of the Yarl Tent, awaiting the arrival of his council. For weeks now the halls, ships, and hunting parties of his nation have been in an uproar of the worst kind, ever since the Gotians princess Raviella had stolen away from Lord Lausamen's castle at night, after the paying of the dowry, and the Gotians refused to return her.
Lausamens bride leaving him after marriage was insult enough to his pride sensitive people. Them refusing to return the ( If the king had to say so,exorbitant) dowry, was at least to his people was the equivalant of spitting in his empire's face. The people claimed their swords and their bears thirsted for war. It was time to see if his counsel thought likewise.

Before anything could be brought before the grand counsel or to be decided by the king alone, it first must be brought before the triumvirate. It was the council of the three highest Yarls in the lands, with the largest territories to boot. It consisted of Alkrak the proud, by far the most powerful, strong, ambitious, loyal, and jealous Yarl of them all. While fiercely loyal to the young king he also was not the kings favorite. He was a bloodthirsty man with innumerable children and wives. He was also the extremely proud and fierce founder and captain of the Kurean Bear Riders. Also his son, Pyrhas the strong owns his own yarl plot and counsul seat, formerly unheard of outside of the nobility.
Then comes Itscot the Bold the kings uncle and kin. He is one of the feeblest and most un assertive of the grand counsel( many attribute this to his shaming in the battle of Tarvits by the kings late father). He is known to follow Alkrak in all counsel matters.
Finally comes Marsid the swift. His father was one of the leading generals during the final Kuruan unification wars, killed in the great sea battle. He was the kings best friend, and to be frank, one of his only companions. The king trusts him above all others, much to the bemoaning of Alkrak. He is a notoriously fast runner and rider, owner of one the few horses that reach these northern lands.

The first to arrive was Alkrak. He strode in on mighty footsteps in his ironclad boot. They welcomed each other with the customary show of devotion to the God of War and sat down.
Then came Itscot. He came in, shivering at the sight of Alkrak staring him down. The King thought to himself that he probably should try and do something to stop Alkrak getting in his uncles ear before the vote.
Then finally arrived Marsid, confidently striding in, confidently late. Alkrak opened his mouth as if to question him but, thought better of it. He and the king exchanged a friendly glance.

The king addressed. '' My Yarls. I proclaim that no matter the results of today's vote, we must stand by the decision. Know I will say no more. Begin to make the vote.''. First, Marsid strode to the front, waving of Alkrak and Itscot. '' At this time '' he haughtily proclaimed '' I know, and you all know that peace is by far the most prudent course of action at this point. We cannot afford to be bogged to down in a pointless war for pride! Lausamen can deal with his loss. If not, we shall make him ''
Then unconfidently Itscot strode to the front. He simply raised his white paddle, signfying peace. Alkrak let out a growl, and he scampered back to his seat.
The king emmited a groan, knowing what was going to happen next. Alkrak strode confidently to the front, picked up his axe. ''WAR!!! This would take it to the grand counsel.

The First to arrive was the peace party of Silvertongue along with Krazen, Harold, and Skamand. They seated themselves around the Grand Counsel Tent. Then boisterously striding in came the War Party led by the begrudged Alausamen and his first mate Urlach. The King continued to appear nonchalant, desperate to not force his opinion on any of his subjects.
And then immediately as the sun set, all was quiet and the counsel began. The First to stride up was Lausaman. '' Let us take back what is ours!'' he shouted, and cast the black paddle for war.
After him in their order came Urlach and Nolek each casting the paddle for war. Then came Harold the Heavy. His face showed obvious signs of indecision. ''Damn'' whispered Sran Silvertongue. He contemplateted the black and white paddlle. Then showing signs of decision he raised the black paddle. '' To War! ''. But then it was time for Silvertongue and Krazen the black to each cast their vote, each raising the white paddle. It was 4 votes war, 2 votes peace.
Then up stepped Torgaddon. He cast the black paddle and in succsession came Ironfist,Vitar, and Nolek, each casting the black paddle. And finally Skamand the Seaman cast a white, setting the record 7-3

It was time for the Yarls to cast their votes of two. First up stepped Alkrak, delivering the typical "WAR!!!!'' and casting his two black paddles. 9-3. Then Masid stepped boldly to the front, shaking his head while casting his white paddles. 9-5. Finally Itzca stepped up the front. Masid found himself hoping he would just cast his paddles for war so the king would not have to get involved. After a moment of indecision, he picked up his black and white paddle, and cast one of each. The assembled loudly boo'd the king damning his uncles indecision. 10-6

The King stepped to the front and nodded, prepared to cast his three votes. If he cast them for peace war might be delayed, with them not having a large enough majority. But it could not be stopped, and he did not want any more of Alkraks inconfidence. He realized what he must do. 13-6

TO WAR AND DEATH TO GOTIA!

This is my creation story:

In the beginning of time, there were two gods who were brothers. Their names were Infinitus and Caelus. They lived in the heavens and after a while, Caelus grew jealous of Infinitus, claiming that he wielded more power than himself. "You definitely wield more power than I, Infinitus, for you sit on the throne of heaven while I bow at your filthy feet, doing what you command." Infinitus responded, "You know as well as I, Caelus, that I wield no more power than you do. I merely wish to keep peace between us so that the heavens aren't unsettled." "I challenge you, Infinitus, to a fight to the death. This will determine which of us is stronger and fit to rule!" Infinitus calmly responded, "Strength is not in fighting, but in creation. No blood need be shed. Let us see who has the ability to create a better planet."
Caelus agreed to this and hurriedly began to create his planets. Infinitus, knowing the impatience and temper his brother held, took pity on him. Infinitus carefully created his planet, putting his time and concentration into every little thing; the rocks and grass, the worms and beetles, even the veins in the leaves of the evergreen tree. He used brilliant colors; bright greens and dark reds. He did indeed have the makings of a truly magnificent world underway.
Caelus however, did not have Infinitus' care and grew impatient when creating. One thing took too much thought and time. He grew angry and destroyed his creations, then realizing he had to create them again, abandoning one world to go create another world. The abandoned world became the planet of Uranus. Seeing Inifinitus' world, Caelus' burning feeling to outshine Infinitus grew and developed a burning fire within him, creating contempt and hate for his brother. He would create a bigger world than Infinitus; its size should surely startle him, disrupting him from his work and discouraging him. Caelus fed off this idea and created a truly huge planet, Infinitus' planet did indeed seem extremely small next to Caelus'.
This, however, did not bother Infinitus, for he knew that size would not matter, but the material put onto that planet. Caelus was so pleased that his planet was so enormous, that he left most of the land barren, creating small plots of trees and water every 50 miles or so. When compared to Infinitus' planet, it paled, especially the colors used by Infinitus. His temper rose yet again, and he abandoned this planet as well, which later became Jupiter.
He moved on yet again, and grew tired and lazy. He created a very small planet so he wouldn't have to create too many things and he failed yet again. This planet became Pluto. Meanwhile, Infinitus was nearly done with his planet and it was truly beautiful. Caelus wasn't aware of this fact yet, and realized that as long as he had more planets than Infinitus, he would surely be more superior for power did indeed come in numbers.
So, he set out to create more planets. Venus was quite similar to Uranus, abandoned due to frustration, barren and lifeless. Caelus had created a ring around Saturn in an attempt to make it look better than it was. However, below the ring it was again, barren and lifeless. Saturn didn’t come out too badly, having been created with many magnificent colors. Caelus was quite angry now, but managed to keep it under control while creating Mars. He did create some volcanoes that erupted quite often, just as a way to let out the anger he couldn’t keep bottled up, but the land was as ugly as Uranus and Saturn. Infinitus realized that his brother had no interest in creating living things and even if he did have interest, he wouldn’t be able to create them right. He wouldn’t create them for their beauty and complexity, but for their ability to worship him.
Caelus let all his anger erupt when creating Mercury, for he could no longer keep it in. He created several volcanoes and made the air both hot and cold due to his anger and hatred towards his brother. The air would change abruptly, and at any given time, therefore leaving the land lifeless and barren once again. While creating Neptune, Caelus had cooled off and created quite a lovely planet, demonstrating his brilliant colors that were used in creating Saturn, except he repeatedly included no life. Caelus was done with his creating and went to see how Infinitus’ planet was coming along. He was highly confident that he would win this contest.
At the sight of Infinitus’ planet, Caelus was utterly amazed at what he saw. Beautiful greens flowed with the valleys as blues did with the rivers. The flowers were a variety of colors and the animals were simply stunning. Caelus hated himself for the amazement he felt when he saw Infinitus’ planet. He went to Pluto, and felt his feelings of depression and anger wash over him. He had lost. Bigger and more were not better. It was what was on the planet that mattered, what created the beauty. Caelus lost and he knew it. He couldn’t argue he won, for before the competition had started, each had placed a blue fire within them, letting the other know what the other felt about his planet and his brother’s. Infinitus knew that Caelus was jealous of his abilities. Caelus let the reality wash over him.
“I lost…,” he croaked, while crashing waves of sorrow, jealousy and anger hit against him as though throwing him against a sharp area of many rocks. Then he remembered Infinitus’ rocks, how beautiful they were. “No!” he cried, “No I must not think of that! I shall put myself out of my misery!” He erupted violently and turned into a cloud of cosmic gas. Now, every time there is a supernova, it’s Caelus advising his brother on improvements to the universe.
Caelus’ body turned into the essence of soul and light, which became the stars. Infinitus created humans to worship him and to forever remember Caelus. He taught them that when you rush through things, it always comes out worse than when you take your time, and not to be selfish but caring, that everyone can change, and become something beautiful.

What do you think?

Well title it differently. Something like:

The Creation of the "nation name"'s people universe.

Myth implies it is not the truth. Also, change the text to a readable colour!

anyone care for any comments on my war counsel?

True. Some diplo perhaps?

Dear Supusi, would you care to open trade with my fine nation, the Cuetans?

An Brother Numidia, I trust no agreesive feelings? Perhaps trade as well as a pact of non-agression against one another?

Finally, to my cousins across the sea's, Iberia. You will not stop our landing and settlement across the waters will you?

To the Esteemed and Wisened Mehesh Kesuknit

We will enjoy having your goods in our nation. Our Holy Words accept to the trade agreement.

Not that I don't appreciate the pages upon pages of spam already, lets keep it down to a minimum? lol

Thanks Iggy for the named map, though there are a few things out of place. Pylos is actually the eastern Peloponnese nation (the green one) and switch the Seneca and Wampanoaga (though if Jacobite likes it this way we can keep it, up to him). Hopefully that clears the map up.

@all: you can just put the name of your capital in your orders, that will be fine. And remember this is bronze age...no swords. you fight with spears, clubs, slingers and archers.

@Abaddon: Yes you have contacts with those around you, plus any far fetched nations that I mentioned u had contact with in the update. In your case, its just Supusi, Iberia and Numidia.

@terrish: a minor mistake, I assure you, there is no conspiracy :).

Very nice stories everyone. keep it up.

Yes, let peace reign between our two peoples.

To Cueta
From Iberia

Stay on your side and we shall stay on ours.

To Patwaris
From GUJARAT and HARAPPA

Yes, we do not expect to be fighting eachother anytime soon. An NAP and a deal to allow traders commence business is favorable. What is this "technology" you speak of, though?

To Canfre
From Ravenna

We rather like ruling ourselves now. We do not expect to return to your broken empire.

To Chief Otola of Talomato
From the Mohegan Tribe

We have only heard of your people in legends and stories. We will accept your gifts, but I am afraid we will be unable to conduct any trade ourselves, as we do not possess the ability to reach your people within reasonable time. Perhaps an exchange of technology may help us better trade?

OOC: Halash is in the stats twice and in one of them it has a stronger army then everyone else. :p

Good update! My capital is Venice and is situated more western than the current one.

Question: How much ep does a country get every turn.

Read. The. Rules!
Never ever ask this question again, unless you've read the rules and there is no mention of economy. And if you look at the other nation's stats, you can get an idea. Remember, only post if you think it's necessary. If it's unnecessary, it's spam.
