JNES: Civilizations

To the Honorable Tribal Council of the Attalusca

Our ships will pillage and burn your fleets until you can no longer feed yourselves. We will burn your homes and sell your families as slaves in distant lands. However, events do not need to occur as such. We offer you your lives, freedom, and property. Your leaders will be placed in positions of power throughout your realms and some of the finest slaves and lands will be offered to you. We ask merely that you recognize Chief Otola as your leader and acknowledge your subservience to Talomato. As for your people, we promise none shall be harmed or sent into slavery. We await your answer with much interest,

Chief Otola of Talomato

To the Great Sachem Kesukqut of the Wampanoag

We bear you greetings from the southlands of Talomata. We offer you friendship, trade, and prosperity. We offer you twenty-five of the most exotic concubines available within our empire. We hope our future together will be an amicable one. Sincerely,

Chief Otola of the Talomata

To: Saxon Barbarians
From: Kurugean Empire

Hail fellow warriors! We would like to make contact with your mighty empire nd see what might you have to trade with our great and superior empire. Perhaps even a tribute in return for protection!

OOC: I have a strange feeling in my gut that the city that has yet to fall to any nation in Italy will become Rome. :mischief:

To Ravenna
From Canfre

Barbarians are on our borders, while you may seem perfectly capable of defending yourself from such vile creatures, but should you decide to join us and become a part of Canfre, we can provide a more stronger front to deter the barbarians.

Also, we have squashed our rebellions in the south, only one measly city still stands against us, they will be no match for our army. Yet another reason for you to join us again, for once we are done in the south, the entire army will march north and believe me it will not be pretty. Think of the children, do you want them to see their parents hung by their entrails?

To Apuli
From Canfre

I have recieved news that we had a minor skirmish on the Aegian Coast, I sincerely hope this will not escalate into a full scale war. Therefore I propose that we agree to a trade agreement and Non Aggression Pact for the next 3 turns. Agreeable?

First I'd like to begin a breif lecture on coquina. Coquina is a time of stone which is indigineous in quantity only to the region of St. Augustine, Florida. This stone was used to construct many of the permanent buildings of the town and the massive Castillo de San Marcos which dominates over the town. Coquina is unique and possibly the best form of rock for fortess construction for the following reasons:

1. The rock's geological quality allows for the containment and flowing of cool air, an attribute much desired in Florida and in any construction before the invention of air conditioning.

2. The rock is easily molded. Unlike the harsh stone used to construct the Pyramids and Stonhenge, for the first week it has been removed from the quarry, it can be molded into any form with ease.

3. Coquina does not shatter. If hit with a projectile, the object merely sinks into the coquina and adds to the fortification. If the projectile penetrates, it goes all the way through, leaving only a hole, not breaking the wall. The finest example was in 1904, when a modern cannon was being removed from St. Augustine's fort and the crew decided to test fire it after hearing of the fort's strength. The modern round stuck in the wall and remains there to this day.

Without further introduction I present The Bastion. This will be the center of the capital city's (Talomato) political power and intellectual growth. The Museum inside is a museum such as that int he Great Library at Alexandria, more of a forum for intellectual discussion than looking at old stuff. The library of course is the library.

@Jason, i present it to you to decide the cost and benefits of this project. Below is a "blueprint" of The Bastion.

To Chief Otola

We gladly accept the friendship of the seafaring Talomata. We wonder if perhaps a deal can be reached to teach our people your great naval skills?

To Ashanti
From Golohm

Shall we fight or shall we trade?

ooc- Ashanti has no stats, and I have no population stat.

Charles: I assume you mean will I change the economy rules any time soon? No. But the rules for trade and "golden ages" will soon be presented, giving even more economy opportunity.

EQ: so really it would be an increase to your education (a stat that will soon be added) and an added defensive bonus for wherever you build it. But the opening of those mines may be an even better benefit than the actual building of the Bastion. Also expect it to take 4 turns, and cost 4 EPs.

From Igar of the Saxons (about a 1/3 of the Saxon barbarians)
To Halash

We see how you treat other tribes. We will never allow our people to become slaves of the Halashi despot! Lodz shall burn to the ground before we are finished!

From Rarg of the Saxons (about a 1/3 of the Saxon Barbarians, near Jutland)
To Kurugean Empire

We are listening. Please explain the terms more. I wish, in exchange for our service to the Kurugean crown, a nation be created for my tribe south of Jutland, fully protected by the Kurugean nation.

To Canfre
From Ravenna

We have said before, we can take care of ourselves.

To Canfre
From Apuli

Make sure your armies mind their borders. We will not take another skirmish so lightly.

To Talomata
From Attalusca

You may be able to defeat us on the sea, but our armies shall rape and pillage your land should you not cease your hostile actions! Attalusca is not a weak tribe and will not submit to your demands.

To Golohm
From Ashanti

That remains to be seen.

To Taronlia
From Asotin Tribe and the Chinook

Yes of course. We are great friends of the Taronlia!

To: Igar of the Saxons
From: Halash

Lodz will not be burnt to the ground. Barbaric Saxon homes will be what is burnt to the ground. King Hall looks forward to taking Igar of the Saxons as his own personal slave.

We will continue to allow Saxons who do not resist Halashi rule full citizenship and rights within Halash.
