Fall From Heaven Leader's Tale - Valledia the Even

Coffee Talk:
I was going to say something, but then i got to feeling too perclemped so i'll just give you a topic to discuss:

What are we going to do with our new great scientist? I suggest another academy at our soutern city. Its on a river and has lots of grassland- it will make a fair science city once we burn/chop the woods/jungles.

I.

TheJopa, feel free to play some turns if you can (I think an open roster might be the way to go). Patch e should be fine (it was started in d but I have since upgraded with no issues in this game)

Okay, thanks. Count this as got-it then. I'll try to be quick (and also not to mess up :p)
I think the Academy would be the best choice, unless GS can bulb something critical.

Academy away. Long-term thinking is good in a long game.

Ricamros Firesoul (Yr. 148. – 165.) Sage and politician

Regency of Ricamros

Ricamros Firesoul was a wizard born in Cevedes at the Year 96. Age of Rebirth. He displayed great magical aptitude so he was taken from his parents, in the Amurite tradition, and sent to Amurite training camps. He was learning quickly, so when the NuValle Academy was founded in Cevedes at the Year 128. he was ready to take the position of vice-headmaster. Being only 32 years old at the time, he was by far the youngest wizard on such a high position, which spoke enough of his power.

He was as skilled in politics as he was in magic. The Amurite nation was formally a republic, even if Valledia had unlimited control over the nation. Senate of 100 members was still existent, but it had no real power, or better said, it's power was limited to giving out the advices to Valledia. Being one of the most powerful mages in the nation, Ricamros became the Senator in Year 140. He was part of the party known as Radical Academic. Radical Academics were a party dedicated to loosening the government restrictions on necromancy and entropy research. They wanted to fully explore the world of ether, and were furious that the Valledia restricts their efforts. Radical Academics were often looked down upon with despise, especially by those who were outraged such foul research was allowed at all. Still, Ricamros managed to assure Valledia that his policies will be beneficial to the Amurites. In the Year 148. he became Head of Senate and a Regent, holding practically full power in all internal affairs, and partially even in the army.

A band of warriors was trained in Cevedes. Ricamros ordered library to be built, as it was his goal to boost the Amurite knowledge. Construction was, however, interrupted as it was necessary to train two more warrior divisions.

During his reign, Ricamros made an achievement that the people will remember for generations. He personally founded The Amurite Arcane Academy of Nimarail. He also stopped all work on Nimarail monument, as the Academy was something even better that citizens had to boast about. Instead he started to build the hall were elder council will assembly.

News came that west of Nimarail mountains lied truly immense amounts of mana.

Warriors sent to explore eastern valley found that it had no other way out. They were ordered to return home, but it wasn't an easy task. They defeated a bear, skeleton and two groups of goblins and still remained in the valley, waiting that the passage becomes safer.

Perpentach offered open borders agreement, which Valledia personally signed.

Our cities were under heavy attacks but they are safe now. Every town is defended by two divisions of warriors. Udernat is training adepts, under personal training of Ricamros.

Bronze working, as Valledia ordered, was discovered.

Reign of Ricamros was abruptly ended in Year 165. Ricamros was assassinated while personally examining mana sources in the fields near Udenarat.

He was killed by fanatical mage who was devotedly loyal to 'good cause'. Assassin claimed that Ricamros wanted to tap the mana sources to power death magic. Other people whisper that Valledia personally sent assassin to stop Ricamros's growing influence, which could eventually drag the nation into demonic pact, even if Ricamros personally only wanted to exploit demons as creatures bound to the Amurite cause.

Looks good and i like the political story.
Seems like Amurite society is full of intrigue and danger.

Tech-wise, i suggest we either get calendar or tech towards hunting.
Calendar is available immediately and in conjunction with our adept (available in four turns) burning down jungles and our workers (who can chop new forests) we can work the dyes near Nimurail. The dyes and academy will really boost our research. Best of all though, one dye is on the river and the river connects all three of our cities. It will allow us to grow further in all cities (currently our capital is unhappy and starving).
Alternatively, we might want to consider teching towards hunting- this is a much longer route but it would let us connect the ivory for +1 happy. It would also give us some tougher forces in the field.

Alright, if I'm reading the roster correctly, with all of the current changes, then Rex Rgs o' Ter is up and Stuge is on deck.

Thats assuming Evernoob is still out of the loop...

OK, finally catching up on this sorry.

Some great stories there. I think Calendar is a better choice as the extra happiness and commerce would be good. Hooking up the bananas in Cervedes would allow us to be able to work more mines (that we can chop now). Is Catacomb Libralis worth chopping out?

Rex is UP, stuge ON DECK.

Catacomb is good...bonus science plus every one of our citys can build adepts without the necessary building.

Lurker:

Just have to say I appreciate the efforts going into the posts. These have been fun to read. Keep it up!

On behalf of all of us, thank you Rumbold.

Another Lurker:

Second the Rumbold statement - only disappointment is that we have to wait for the next installment.

I just recently discovered FfH2 and must say that I am extremely impressed with the quality of the mod!

Cheers,
Nan

The Story of Henri of Argenteria
Lord of Argentaria, Fugitive, and Head of Mage Guild in Udernarat

The Lordship of Argentaria

Henri was the second lord of Argentaria. The previous lord, Jaque the Old, was mysteriously poisoned. No doubt Perpentach was nehind it, he did like too keep his noble quick and suspicious. It was a clear day when I had saw the Merrymen in the distance, I knew immediatley what was happening. Perpentach had found out about his dealings with Valledia.

Valledia's courier, Arsius the Young, had approached me secretly four months ago. He offered the secrets of their land, their magic, their ways in return for insights into the chaotic magics that existed in the Balmasque lands. I had accepted, reforming his lands from chaos to the ordered Amurite way. It was hard to see Argentaria would soon outgrow Jubilee. Perpentach was not pleased. The merrymen were only a few miles away.

I ran into my centeral chamber in my palace, begining a Charm Person spell. It worked, and the Merrymen, upon arrival helped me to escape Balmasque.

Among the Amurites

Both Valledia and I knew Patrian, and we could communicate well. The land was mourning the death of an extraordinary mage, Firesoul. She told of of the things that had happened in the Amurite lands since he was found dead.

"Little happened directly after his death. However, only a few weeks later, Remus, the star student of Udernarat became fit for magical usse outside his guild. He is learning Metamagic and fire magic. He is moving to discover the enterance to the Valley of Magik."

"Remus used his metamagic skills to create a floating eye, which scouted the Valley of Magik. HIs results were not pleasing. An Orcish city is to the south of it, and thousands of barbarians are there."

"Once again, the enchanted eye flew, but this time to the east. He saw maro hordes, but also a small patch of ice. Perhaps the Illians live here, and they know of Kylorin's existence."

"Then the sages of Cevedes discovred a Calendar, and we can now grow things more efficiently. Remus mastered Body magic, and can now speed himself and others up."

"Remus's eye also found another great thing. the Tomb of Sucellus. He and Kylorin both fought Mulcarn, so we will search there for answers."

"Your magic in the way of the Mind is amazing, and we would like you to replace the ailing Patron of the Udernarat mage guild. I hope you will be able to impart your knowledge to the adepts. Goodbye Master Henri."

With that she left, leaving Henri to find a ride to Udernarat.

I guess I'll get Calendar, but we should consider getting exploration soon. Also, we need some farms around Cevedes, whoever cottaged it is causing startvation. Any other comments?

Thats because its unhappy.
