C3C Redux: Six months with no patch.

"Nonstandard means" refering ONLY to waiting until Civ6 is in the pipeline so we can buy the bundle of Civ 5+expansions, and then download the unofficial patch required to get it to work. Or possibly getting from a friend who is sick of it because of the lack of patching.

Otherwise never justified

I think it probably is a good idea to just stick with Civ 4:BTS unofficial patch until Civ 6 is in development.. at which point the Civ5 and all non-obsolete expansions, ie no Warlords although I liked the barb senario, can be bought cheap and the unofficial patch should be able to solve most problems (unless Blizzard picks up the rights to make Civ5... in which case it will be something like 2020 when it gets released, but it will be properly patched)

Thanks for the feedback Jon-and thanks for the game.

(and now the questions on when will commence)

Well I am glad, although it may still be useful for us to hold off on Civ 5 until Civ 6 (or Civ Rev 2) is in production (just change the unofficial part of my earlier statement to official.)

For those of you who remain skeptical, a BTS patch is indeed still coming... :p

Jon

Before or after I'm retired? I hate to sound like a complainer but I think we've been waiting long enough. Thanks for the reassurance though, at least we're getting some communication on the issue. Maybe you'll be really nice and throw in some extra content as a bonus for making us wait? Maybe?

No hurry, No worries. Bhruic's patch will hold me over just fine. :D

Speak for yourself. I'd like to get on with modding my game but I don't want to get too carried away in case I have to start all over again when the patch finally comes out.

I always do. ;)

Good to hear something from a Firaxian on the patch. Thanks.

Bolded is mine.....

Same as in the last 6 months.... Still coming ;)

But it is good to know that it is being done.

Maybe they are adding extra content with the patch and not just patching bugs.....
That is for sure, giving that they asked permission to various map script makers and to Refar ( for his Random Map chooser ) to include them in the next patch.

Yep... and it'll still be coming until it comes, in which case it will have arrived. ;)

Jon

and once it has arrived, will it fix the bugs, or will someone like Harkonnen, Solver or Bhruic have to fix another crappy patch?

That is the main question ;)

Then let me rephrase it:

I know that in programming it is hard to make schedules ( you can stumble in a dificult bit of code pretty easily ), but , unless you are not allowed to do so, can you give a educated guess ( I'm not asking a promise ;) ) of how much work is missing so far? 20%? 30% ? 80% ?

Otherwise, and with all due respect, we are here still :p waiting for Godot.....
