SGOTM 08 - Smurkz

I would actually argue that we settle the bloke, and use the next GS, expected on turn 144, to bulb Education.

Paper costs 897, Education costs 2691 (I think, I could have rounded wrong). Bulbing gives 1500 + 3*pop, so slightly below 1600 likely. If we bulb Education, we'd still need to research roughly 2000 beakers manually. If we don't settle, and assuming 2:1 research/gold, we could be there on turn 143. At least I think so, I'm not fully up to date on where we stand research-wise, but I'm pretty sure that's a minimum. If we do settle, we might be there faster, but we could time it by running more turns at 0% to save gold for a longer research streak after we have Unis and Oxford.

I'm happy to hear there's a plan :). So, settle, finish Civil Service, revolt to Bureaucracy, start Paper over the next few turns, and kill Shaka. Who's going to play next, and when? I feel I've had a full turnset now, but for what it's worth, I'm taking tomorrow off from work and could play another hour or two if people are in favor.

Methos has asked for a skip, so rolo is up.

Roster:
  • r_rolo1 - UP!
  • unkle - On Deck!
  • ChrisShaffer - Warming up

  • Xcalibrator - Just played
  • Methos - skip

rolo? :)

It looks that CFC is joking with me , since this is the third time I'm trying to post a got it to this :(

Anyway if we have a plan ( need to skim the weekend posts, since I passed most of it of buying Xmas presents or taking care of my 7 y old nephew :run: ) I can play it tonight.

Yes, that would be good. I'll try to have a look at the game and update the spreadsheets be up to date, can't do for a few hours yet though.

Where is rolo?

Rolo had to restore the OS and has a ill lil sis to take care of :p Not mentioning that CFC was down all morning .....

Well, I'll play today ( hopefully :please: ), but I'll wait for mr anal MM ( aka Niklas :p ) to post the spreadsheets ;)

Well, I lost some time discussing with niklas and I think we have a rough outline for a plan for the next 2 turns:

Workers:

#1 and 2 will move next to kwa next turn to star chopping all that malaria-infested jungle as soon as the city is ours

#3 will continue doing his road to nowhere in Rockport area ( later he'll chop the forests for AW )

#4 will move now to the cottage next to hari and road it ( a waiting compass while CS does not arrive )

Now city tiles arragement will be virtually untouched, except switching the Pura pHill to Hari before even playing and the assignement of the 6th citizen of rockport. Same for queues.

About teching: We'll maintain at 100% this turn and then maintain enough :science: to get CS in the end of next turn.

About military action: here me and niklas disagree. Niklas wants that we kill all the units on kwabut one now ( after spashing a cat first ) and I would prefer to wait until next turn to make a all-out attack. Niklas does not want to give a chance to that still to promote impi to get his stars and I prefer to have a healthy army in case shaka manages to bring enough reinforcements to give us trouble ( a very remote consideration.... ). Well, both the ideas will probably give very similar results, so most likely this is a bizantine discussion :p

Well, this is just for 2 turns, because we'll need to reassess the situation after capturing kwa.

Since we've already discussed it, it should come as no surprise that I approve of the plan. I'd like to hear what others have to say about the attack though, but I don't feel strongly about it either way. All the units will have +5% fortification, and we'll have another badge on the Impi next turn, but on the other hand if we leave the Impi for last he might just as well heal-promote before next turn, so...

This is one of the moments where this smilie is well deserved: :wallbash:

Kwa is in pop 1. The city will auto raze in capture :(

That doesn't change much of our current plans, but we'll need a settler more soon that we were expecting

I decide to let down the test save I used for this. Pop 1 Delhi will autoraze in spite of being legendary. Add pop in WB and city will not autoraze

unless Kwa already has a wonder, I think we will not wait for shaka's next stack... If there is one coming. Of course if we could have an idea wether it will grow next turn, that could change...

It likely won't grow next turn. It was size 2 last turn, whipped down to 1 to produce an Impi on this turn. We could of course look back and see how long it has been size two, but it's really a long shot. But I still think we should wait until next turn, the nets will stay where they are even if the town is razed.

Bah. Stupid scorched earth auto-raze-inducing whipping by Shaka! Given the perversity of this game, I don't really expect Shaka's workboat to net the clams for us, but I still like the idea of leveling up our cats by letting them have two whacks at Kwa. That probably won't work out either, but I vote for giving it a shot--knock him down to one unit this turn, then attack again next turn.

Play. Play now.

It looks like I got the first crown of military glory of this game :p
