I've never seen combat odds so low against animals. That's probably because I've only played 2-3 games on Prince or higher. 
The mountains make Ari's move interesting. 3,2 to go around the mountains to the south, 3,9 to go around them to the north, or 9 now?

I think the picture was cropped because the resolution is so high it would be enormous otherwise. Here is a non-cropped view.
BTW -- HUSch, if you were asking for a way to resize images and you have Windows XP, then the XP Power Toys include a resizer.

We get a 'crossing river' pentalty (25%). I usually let animal attact me to gain some defence bonusses.

I think we should do 9, to get a goed view before we go back.

We are the last team in the turn order. If you turn on show hostile actions/movement (and not fast hostile movements...), you could have seen where the lion retreated.
