Flag of Bohemia-Bavaria

The traditional Bohemian flag was adopted as the flag of Bohemia-Bavaria, although the Bavarian flag is often used in its place throughout Bavaria.

A Golden Bull

"There is precedence for such an action, your Majesty," he said. He was some minor noble, easily tractable and with no ambition. The world needed more people like him.

"That is true. Many of the other European kingdoms have similar contracts between the King and the nobles," said Alfred III Wittlesbach. This plan of Hans' was brilliant! And to think he had thought the House of Sponheim would never amount to anything in Bavaria...

"I don't see where that matters, sire. Meeting these demands is essential for the well-being of your kingdom!" Normally Alfred would have been offended, but this was all part of the plan, the grander scheme, as Hans would have called it. They required a minor noble to instigate these "complaints" so they would have a reason to move forward with the compromise.

"Very well. You will have your guarantees, but you must be willing to accept compromise on a few points." If this little noble only knew what those points were, he would never have raised this issue. But that was another thing that had been sought in the instrument needed: a lack of intelligence. If only they were all like him, it would be so much simpler.

"Of course, your majesty, of course. So long as it meets at least that which we require, we will not complain to a few concessions."

"It will meet your requirements, I'm sure. I shall issue it all in writing in a few days." Without any consultation, of course; once put forth, there would be no withdrawing it, and the support of the more powerful noble families would be ensured by the body of the contract itself.

Little more was needed but a little force to begin what Hans ensured him would be the complete homogenization of his kingdom. The eviction of a few petty nobles and the shifting of some of the peasant population was hardly an intolerable price to pay for such a reward...

When are the next orders due?

Florence,-panoramic-view.jpg

July, 1503

Vincenzo Pazzini was one of those people who had the unique ability to get along well with life. Indeed, much to his little brother’s frustration, things just seemed to fall into place for Vincenzo. He had done well by the family business, a quarter of all imports in Firenze were now managed by the Pazzini family. As Vincenzo sat on his new balcony sipping wine and watching the midday sun, he pondered, as he often did, about what the state of the business might be had Guisseppe decided to follow into it, instead of pursuing childish goals. It was a pitty, he decided.

He turned at the creak of an opening door and smiled as his wife Adriana emerged from the house, her dark hair dancing in the breeze. She returned his smile as she approached. "They’ve arrived" she said. Vincenzo stood up from his chair, nearly knocking his glass of wine to the floor.

"Are they down stairs?" He asked excitedly.

"Yes, they’re just greeting the children now."

Vincenzo gave her a kiss and hurried into the house and through the main hallway, dodging servants as he went. He ran until he reached the top of the main staircase to the foyer, nearly falling over the railing in the process. He looked down to see his three children excitedly buzzing around two huddled forms frantically trying to keep them at bay. For weeks they had been looking forward to the uncle they had never met coming to visit.

"So you finally decided to wisen up and take my advice, eh?" Vincenzo said from his perch atop the stairs. Immediately the children stopped their play to looked up at their father, as did the faces of Roberto and Guisseppe.

Vincenzo could barely recognize his brother. Though younger than Vincenzo, Guisseppe’s face was creased with the hard lines of age. The youthful glow in his eyes had somewhat diminished, replaced with a cold sense of experience and hardship. His bushy moustache and unkempt stubble made him appear for all the world like the rough merchant seaman he was. It seemed by his looks as if he had been away for fifteen years, not six.

"Ciao, brother" spoke Guisseppe quietly.

Vincenzo bolted down the stairs, threw his younger brother into a vicious bear hug and kissed him on the cheek. Guisseppe groaned as his sibling squeezed the air out of him, and returned the hug tentatively. Vincenzo let his brother go and shook Roberto’s hand, welcoming them to his estate.

"You have been gone too long!"

"So it would seem. Why didn’t you tell me about them?" said Guisseppe gruffly, jerking his head in the direction of his nephews and niece. Vincenzo looked away briefly and scratched his head.

"Father insisted" he said at last. If Guisseppe had been affected by the statement, he gave no sign.

"How is he?"

"Not well, he has fallen quite ill lately. His condition worsens and improves with irregularity."

"I should like to see him."

"I thought as much, so I told him of your intent on returning. But-" Vincenzo paused in order to scan his brothers face, but he found he could no longer read the man. "He seemed unwilling." That was the nice way of putting it, Vincenzo thought.

Guisseppe’s brow furrowed and he was about to say something when Roberto interrupted him.

"Uhm, Guisseppe? Have you seen at how big young Cecilio is?" Roberto said as he yanked the bigger of the two boys to his side and messed the young boy’s thick brown head. "Go ahead, Cecilio. Tell your uncle Guisseppe how old you are."

Cecilio, who had moments before been a mash of energy, suddenly became shy.

"Quattro" the boy said at last. Vincenzo watched as the anger on his brother’s face faded. Guisseppe knelt down to the lad’s level and smiled.

"Quattro" Guisseppe repeated to himself. "Here, Cecilio. I have something for you." Guisseppe fumbled through his pockets for a moment. "There it is," he said as he removed the short tube from his front pocket and held it up to the light. "It’s a telescope," he said, flipping it out to its full length. "It will let you see farther than you ever could without it, better than a hawk even." Cecilio’s eyes widened as his uncle handed placed the worn metal object into his hands. "It was a gift I received from a friend of mine while I was in Damascus. See the writing here?" Guisseppe ran his calloused fingers along the intricate inscription which ran up the side of the telescope. "It’s Arabic. I think it says ‘God walks with the victorious’, if I remember correctly. Memel was an odd fellow." Cecilio didn’t say anything, instead he remained entranced by this strange artifact from a distant and mystical land.

"Well," said Vincenzo with a sigh. "do come with me. I do not want to keep my associate waiting much longer"

When are orders due? I might miss this one as I attempt to figure out what exactly I am going to do with Wales. I need a grand plan before sending orders. Not just invade England and leave. :p

I might get them in tonight, if I am lucky, as my truck's brakes are out and needs to be repaired before I can work. So that will give me time to work out a plan.
Orders are officially due tomorrow, Sunday, at 4:30 PM U.S. Central Time, GMT -6, but I can take them later from you if need be.
Have you talked to Josef yet? It is vitally important that you do.
Quite right. Germanicus, do talk to Josef before sending orders.
This is a personal preference thing, but I would really appreciate it if you didn't use the word 'gay' as a pejorative. It's not a big deal, but just please avoid it if you could; thank you.
Oh well, looks better with six anyways.
I quite agree.
When are the next orders due?
Orders are due tomorrow, Sunday, at 4:30 PM U.S. Central Time, GMT -6. If you have serious problems making this date, let me know and I can take your orders a little late.

In all honesty, no. I would suggest you either: a.) chose another nation, or b.) wait a turn or two for the collapse of the Majapahit and the emergence of successor states.

No worries, just don't delay it any more than that.
Also, congrats on 4K posts.
Wow, I missed that. Thanks!

Next time, be a little quicker... :p

No problem.

There are two numbers in the line for your eco stat. The first one is your base eco, which is how many eco points your country generates from the normal workings of the economy; the second number is the total eco points, which is the base plus eco points generated by special cities and more random, generally one-time bonuses. The number that you are allowed to spend each turn is the second number.

Isry, please switch my spending from maintaining my navy to sending tribute to the Ming Empire.
No problem.

Would it be possible for me to drop Tibet and join as Bengal?

Can we bank eco points?

Would it be possible for me to drop Tibet and join as Bengal?
If you insist. I hope that you will be able to turn orders in for Bengal on time if you do change.
Can we bank eco points?
As of now, no. I will consider it for future revisions of the rules.
